Everything was a shadowy haze as voices bickered and grew around me. Was this what heaven was like? Or maybe I was with the Moon Goddess now? I couldn’t tell where I was or who was talking. It was so vague, like a quiet echo that had travelled miles to reach me. I was at peace and at first, I couldn’t recall what I had been doing before.

Slowly, my eyes flickered open to the sound of an elderly woman’s voice. “Waking up at last, are you? Good.”

Slowly, I looked around. Everything was blurry. I could barely make anything out of the one eye, while something shrouded my other eye in blackness. Slowly, I found the owner of the voice. A light grey-haired woman with a face full of wrinkles. Her eyes held a familiar sight of blueish green.

“I’m telling you, we should kill it now, not bring it back to health,” a younger woman’s voice huffed out loud. I couldn’t see her, but she must have been somewhere behind a curtain that surrounded the bed I

  • Under the Blue Moon   Worth It

A few days had gone by with me recovering in this room. I wasn’t quite in a hospital, but it had all the required equipment I would need if anything became a problem. Rem visited me often, making sure I was healing up and that none of his family had hassled me, though his aunt - the older woman, seemed very strict in who she allowed in the room with me. In my time recuperating here, I learned that although Rem had saved me from the alpha, he, his luna and most of his pack had escaped. The few who hadn’t escaped had stubbornly fought to the death. That hadn’t shocked me, but I was rather bitter about the situation. I couldn’t side with just one point of view. No matter how I looked at things, the Hunters had put them through so much pain and suffering. As soon as I could walk around again, Rem had permission to take me out and about, so long as he kept me under his supervision and that I did not wander and snoop on Hunter

  • Under the Blue Moon   Lost Without You

After enjoying our snacks and drinks, Rem and I settled down on his bed to watch some TV. To my surprise, Rem enjoyed the odd anime here and there, so we settled down to watch some old classics. No one disturbed us, likely for fear of irritating Rem. Even among his own family, he was rather short with them and would confront them if they made him irritable. By now, I had become accustomed to his nature of being cold, yet caring deeply about people.“So do you think your heat is finally over?” The question seemed to come out of nowhere, throwing me off guard.I could feel my cheeks grow warm, but I played it off smoothly. “I think so, but we haven’t been able to satisfy it since we last spent time alone, so who knows?” Glancing at Rem from the corner of my good eye, I could see him flush deeply.“Well, I don’t feel strange, or didn’t…” Rem tried to say, though he was floundering a

  • Under the Blue Moon   Everything I Wanted

What started with little nips and kisses to Rem’s neck soon turned into a full-on makeout session. I leaned forward slightly, pressing my chest up against his. I knew he was trying to be mindful of the wounds on my face still, but he was slowly growing needier by the moment. My actions were certainly not helping his case, either. As I trailed my lips down to Rem’s chest, he let out a breathless moan, which he broke with a bite to his lower lip. He was struggling to keep his body in check with what he was telling himself. It was cute how hard he was trying to hold back, for my sake. After a moment, my teasing had become too much for Rem to handle. With a gentle push on my shoulders, Rem mumbled out a soft, “if you keep this up, I won’t be able to hold back anymore.”I glanced up at Rem,

  • Under the Blue Moon   Elder Roz

The next morning, Rem had permission to take me to see the werewolves that they had taken into another building behind the mansion. They used it for the extended family if the main estate had no room left open, but it was still large enough for quite a large group of people. Two guards stood outside of the building. At first, I thought they were Hunters from a distance, but as we got closer, I could tell that they were actually werewolves, though they seemed to lack any scent that gave them away. The younger ones I had met had enough of a scent that I could tell what they were with easiness. The guards seemed wary of Rem but allowed us passage with no fuss. They appeared to have been expecting someone to come around today. The werewolf on the right said, “one of the younger ones will be with you shortly. The elder has been waiting for your visit.”Rem nodded and entered the entrance and motioned me

  • Under the Blue Moon   Legend of the Moon Goddess

With the information of Rem being my mate, Elder Roz invited us both to sit down near her. “There are many tales of different werewolves throughout history that have been born special compared to the rest of us,” she explained as she was trying to recall the old legends that were passed down through the generations of her pack. I nodded slowly as I listened intently to the older woman. “When I was young, Hunters killed my pack. My mother was human and could escape with me, but because of that, I don’t really know a lot,” I explained quietly. “All I know is that as a half-blood, I sometimes only half transform, so my wolf ears and tail poke out, but I can fully transform as well. Oh, and that the Moon Goddess gives us each a soul mate upon birth,” I added. Elder Roz nodded her head slowly. “Jake, get us all a nice cuppa tea,” she asked with a warm smile. “Or coffee if the Hunter prefers coffee,” she added. “Tea is fine,” Rem said with ca

  • Under the Blue Moon   Children of the Silver Moon

After Elder Roz explained her tale, Rem’s phone rang. His family needed him for an important meeting. I could remain here with the other werewolves, hoping I might learn something else from them. I saw Rem off, then returned to Elder Roz, who was now napping. Jake had put a blanket over her lap to keep her warm. With a glance at me, Jake looked up and asked, “you’re really mated with the Hunter?”I nodded my head slowly and showed him the mark on my neck that Rem had left. “It was really strange when I first found out, but he’s actually very kind,” I said with a soft smile.Jake rolled his eyes. “The old Hag said I’d understand that crap later, but I have no interest in all that mushy stuff,” he said with a wrinkle of his nose. “Still, I guess if he accepted you, then maybe the Moon Goddess wants to remind humans we’re supposed to be getting along? I mean, humans someh

  • Under the Blue Moon   Tale of Woe

Visiting the other surviving members of the other packs, I learned a little more about the ritual from their elders as well, though they could tell me little more than what Elder Roz had already told me. I could feel their sorrows over the loss of their alpha and luna just as much as I had felt Roz’s loss. This other pack had been sure to not harm the elders or the younger pack members, likely because they posed no threat to his power or position as an alpha.Still, despite this, I couldn’t forgive him for even doing this much. Was it because they had refused his ideals? Was he worried they would side with the Hunter’s and track him down for them? Did that leave these packs open to attack now, to ensure this didn’t come to pass, even though they were no actual threat to him and his pack? There were so many questions and I had no answers for any of them. For now, all I could do was try to learn as much as I could and hope t

  • Under the Blue Moon   Talking to the Moon

As the evening drifted into night, Rem allowed me to remain with the packs while he spoke with his family. He hadn’t given away what he was planning in his thoughts or his heart, but I knew Rem was up to something and it was my fault. Truthfully, I could easily venture a guess at what he was actually planning, but I stayed quiet. If Rem did this on my behalf, then I would not talk him out of it. Though I wondered why he might. Was it the bond between us that made him want to do this? I had my doubts, but that only left me with one other reason. Rem had feelings for me.I felt delighted. Would Rem really ask his family to let these packs return to who they really were on the inside? Would they finally be themselves again?I could only hope they’d agree to it.I tried to speak with Rem through our connection, but he told me he was going to lock me out for a while and since then, I couldn’t feel or hear him at all. • Under the Blue Moon   The Last Journey Home

My gaze never shifted away from Arwen as he looked down at me still, the silence deafening. Nothing seemed to happen, and I wondered if maybe I had simply misunderstood what he was implying. The ground had since stopped shaking and the souls had all returned at the Gods’ demands. Taking in a sharp breath, I helped Rem stand up again, but my thoughts did not wane. I kept thinking over what Arwen had said to me. The God seemed to at least have the patience to allow me to do that much, but I knew it wouldn’t last long. Anxiously, I finally dared to look back at Arwen. His arms were folded across his chest, as though he was dealing with a schoolroom full of children. Despite who and what I was, he was still far older than I, by many centuries. Many cultures had their own version of Death, but most of them stemmed from the same legends spread over the world, twisted into their own versions. “What… sort of price?” I finally asked, unknowing i

  • Under the Blue Moon   A Debt Must be Paid

Thousands upon thousands of eyes stared down at me from the black hole atop the shrine. Even with all of my focus set upon my attempts to hold the ritual back, the opening to Annwn was growing larger. The ground was shaking more, to where small pieces of the ceiling were clattering down on the ground below. Whatever glow I once had was practically gone now, and I knew without a shadow of a doubt that was a bad sign.I was feeling drained and knew it wouldn’t be long now before my attempts failed completely. I relayed the news to the three behind me swiftly as the black hole expanded again. There would be nothing I could do to hold the souls back, but with luck, I might still find the strength to stop the ritual from completing fully.Or so I had hoped.A large earthquake rocked the area, causing the four of us to stumble. I couldn’t keep my balance long enough to refocus and the result was disastrous. Souls quickly started pour

  • Under the Blue Moon   Two Steps away from Annwn

The four of us turned our full attention to the shrine ahead of us. Although the tension between Rem and Rakesh hadn’t subsided, they both put aside their personal feelings of the other to deal with the issue at hand. I wasn’t sure how the other two were handling everything, but it relieved me to not have to stress over the issue just yet.The shrine was old, hand-carved from marble stone. Etchings had been carved into it, but it had been worn from time and was harder to see what it had originally been. I suspected it was more of the same markings that had been on the doors and entrance to this place. They had placed the candles in a horseshoe shape on the surface of the marble. Within them was some burning sage.Although these items were important for most rituals, I could tell right away that even if we put out the candles or stopped the burning of the sage, it still wouldn’t stop the summoning.Kayden looked towards Ra

  • Under the Blue Moon   New Family, Old Friends

Finding the entrance wasn’t too difficult, as it was where the Alpha had said it would be. Finding the new entrance, it was obvious that the digging of paws had made it. Therefore, it would require the two of us to crawl to get inside. I led the way, with Rem following close behind me.Despite the trouble that lay ahead of us, Rem couldn’t help but interject with, “at least I get a lovely view one last time.”I couldn’t look back at him, but I rolled my eyes. “Really, Rem?” I chided him for his childishness. Though in truth, I was glad that Rem hadn’t lost his quirky little sense of humour. “When this is all over, we can admire each other as much as we want. Promise,” I then added, a little quieter. I had hoped that after this war, we could finally find peace. Now I wasn’t so sure.Fighting mortals was one thing, but fighting what was essentially a God was something else ent

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Last Journey

Once more, I take my human form. It seems to surprise the Alpha to find me bandaging his wounds. I hope that if we can convince him to no longer seek revenge, then he might turn into a more reasonable werewolf now that he no longer can be the fighter he once was. If we can salvage him and the others, then perhaps we can finally be at peace and no one else has to go to war on the other. Though with the loss of his mate, I wasn’t sure how the Alpha would react. At worse he would continue to seek revenge and at best; he might get locked up for the rest of his life under the Hunter’s care. “Why don’t you transform back now? It’ll be easier to patch you up,” I say to him, keeping my words firm but gentle. Ken doesn’t seem pleased with how kind I’m being to the Alpha, but after he has put silver cuffs on the Alpha to keep him weak as a precaution, he seems much more amicable to leave my side. I don’t even have to ask where he is going.

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Luna's Victory

The pleasant late morning summer sun heated my fur and made me feel rather warm. It would have been an enjoyable morning had my mind not been full of adrenaline of what had taken place and was still going on even now. All around me, people were busying themselves with helping bandage the wounded. I, however, had no time to help. The Alpha had issued me a challenge, one that I could not really back out of.The two of us circled one another, each of us sizing the other up, but not yet ready to strike first. I was well aware of the Alpha’s skill and although he no longer knew the full extent of my own abilities; he was fully aware of who and what I was. He knew I was no longer the same half-blood he had easily overpowered in a fight before and was now much warier about what damage I could do to him.To make this a fair fight, I had removed the werewolf weapon that Rem had gone to the trouble of getting for me.Staying near me to monitor

  • Under the Blue Moon   The Last Battle

It feels like it has been forever since this whole thing started, even though it hadn’t been that long since Rem and I had met and become mates. I had hoped life would have been simple, enjoying life blissfully, but life had other plans for me and Rem and life had sent this Alpha to shake up our two worlds. Now it had all boiled down to this.Looking around the new battlefield, it seemed with the few Ancient Ones having followed and helped with the fight to protect those who could not defend themselves; we had brought down all the Alpha’s pack members. The Alpha was the only one left still able to fight. I stood in front of the others, my tail held up in a challenging display towards him. I was sure that Ken would want to kill him, but I knew that if we allowed him to do that, nothing much would change. The survivors of the Alpha’s pack and allies would merely seek revenge and call our own pack and allies traitors.No. If I want

  • Under the Blue Moon   Broken Bonds

I can feel the gravel shifting under my paws as Rem and I run toward our family. The Hunters are trying their hardest to fend off the Alpha and his pack members, but the enemy outnumbers them. It was strange that this pack would be out this way, as it was nowhere near the direction of the mansion nor the field in which their allies had camped out. Rem doesn’t seem to know the answer to why they would be here either, other than they knew about the exit, but that doesn’t seem too likely. The Ancient Ones following behind us also confirmed that this pack’s thoughts were of a surprise to find the Hunters and werewolves here. So it put the thought that they had known about our plans aside completely now. It was a strange coincidence, and it made me wonder what the real reason was for. What was out this way that would interest this pack, if not the hidden exits for the Hunters? As we grew

  • Under the Blue Moon   Despair is My Destination

I could no longer smell anything other than the blood that had scattered over the surrounding fields. I was breathless from the constant fighting, but far fewer enemy werewolves were now trying to fight back. We had lost a few of our own but compared to them, we had made it out rather well. I felt sorry for those here. None of them had really started this entire war, but all of them had paid some kind of price. Meanwhile, their so-called leaders were still nowhere to be found. With a slight limp, I made my way across the field to where I could find Rem. He had seemed to fair much better than most of us in this fight, but I wasn’t really all that surprised by it. He was a powerful fighter and smart enough to manoeuvre a battlefield. My memories might have returned to me, but I was never a fighter, not even in my previous lives. He smiled down at me and offered my head a few loving scratches behind the ear, which set my tail into a frenzy of
