Sera
I had three days of excruciating training with the Starlight squad before I realized this may not be my jam. Every time I tried to hit the pads or Spar with one of the girls, I got so nervous that I apologized way too many times after I hit them. I started to think my heart wasn’t made out to be a warrior.
Reed’s sister Naya took me in and worked with me the most these past few days. She seemed friendly and eager to get to know me, so it was a great way to bond and talk while also trying to train me. Even though she was a great teacher, I still needed to get my footing right. I was a dancer, dammit, I should get this easily!
“It’s okay, Sera. You’ll get the hang of it soon enough. It takes a while to learn,” Naya told me over and over again.
“How long did it take Ari to get the hang of it?” I was curious to know how she played out with all of this.
“Well... I wouldn’t compare yourself
Kamari Every day, I practiced and trained. When I wasn’t working with my magic, I exercised or danced. I needed to keep my body and mind vital when it came time to escape. Every day that passed, I could feel myself joining with my magic more. At first, I thought it was just about connection. But after an outburst of anger manifested into flames that turned the curtains to ashes, I realized it was more of an extension of me. My magic felt what I felt and did what I wanted to do. I was angry when I scorched the curtains and walls. My father had come back in to try and force me to shift. He knew I was bluffing, but I wouldn’t budge. He became eerily quiet before walking out again. That was a couple of days ago. I was so angry when my magic lashed out. It felt good to burn things down. A little too good. That was what my mom warned me about, the power craze. “It can consume you if you let it; the power is addictive. The more you have, the more you can bend th
TheronFuck, fuck, fuck, FUUUCCKKK! These assholes are everywhere! For two days, they’ve been nonstop. We’ve had to take shifts from fighting an enemy that doesn’t seem to tire. I realized too late they had another pack fighting alongside them. I didn’t recognize their scent from packs around us, but they were vicious. The bomb they set off at the campus would have decapitated us if it had gone off an hour earlier. Thankfully, most of the team and squad had already left, except for a precious few.Naya was still in a coma at the hospital. Shay said she would pull through, but I haven’t heard any improvements. Reed was a wreck because of it; he almost tore the damn door off when he stampeded into the hospital carrying his sister’s limp body, his young mate close behind. That was two days ago; Sera had stayed to help at the hospital while Reed had been on a killing spree ever since. We’ve all gone head to head with the two packs
ReedTher, NO. No, no, no, you can’t. You’re not allowed to! I knew that look; Theron was dying. I screamed inside; this couldn’t be happening. I cannot lose him, too. Think Reed, Think! If we can’t go to the Hospital, where can we go that can help? Where would Kamari go? Suddenly, the visual popped into my head like I had always known to go there.I know where to go, Rune, help me carry him. Rune and I grabbed each arm and hefted him up, grunting at the dead weight in our arms. Theron didn’t have the strength to even hold his head up. I knew he was fading fast; that knowledge propelled me to get there quicker. We threw him in the backseat of my truck and sped off down the road. Fighting was still happening all over the town, and a part of me knew I should be out there fighting with the pack. However, if Theron died, it would be all over for the pack anyway. Rune had gone eerily quiet these past couple of days. He
“I know you also sensed something with me. I could feel your anger toward me. When you start learning medicine, you get a feel for people’s energies, sicknesses, and emotions. You could call it a sixth sense in a way.” My cheeks grew hot, and I realized she knew exactly how I had been feeling towards her.“It’s okay, and it’s normal for mates to feel protective over their bonded partner. I had wanted to clear the air earlier, but, well, things got crazy around here.” I put my head down in shame. While the whole town had been in chaos, I had allowed myself to be consumed with my jealous emotions. I really needed to work on this with Soraya if we were ever going to be functioning adults again.“I’m sorry,” I said quietly, “If I made you uncomfortable. I’m still learning how to live with my wolf.” I didn’t want to make excuses, but I still needed to apologize to her.“No need,
ReedI sat by Theron as he slept all night. The only time I had gotten up was to answer a call from Sera saying Naya was awake and well. At least one thing had gone right. My heart swelled at the news until I looked at my injured Alpha behind me. I didn’t tell Sera about Theron; I didn’t want to worry anyone. No one knew he of his state Except Rune and the cat. Even as Dani and Rune went out repeatedly to gather injured pack members to be healed, we kept everyone out of Kamari’s room. Soon enough, the Ostyn house became a safe house and makeshift hospital. The cat came in around dawn to check-in. He checked the wound that had started healing and put more ointment on it before checking his heartbeat.“How long has he been wheezing?” The cat asked me as he held the stethoscope to his chest.“A little while. Why? Is it a bad sign?” I looked up at the cat to read his expression.“It’s not a good sig
MorikoThe house was full of wolves with injuries; the iron smell of blood filled my nose as I saw wolf after wolf to assess and put whatever ointment I could find on them to help the healing go faster. I was about to head to Kamari’s room when I felt a tremor through the house. I paused, looking up at the creaking ceiling with dust floating down. I stood still for a moment, assessing, that tremor felt different than the ones these past few days. I perked my ears, straining to hear anything unusual. After a minute, I thought it was just another of the house’s spells and began walking up the stairs. I was about halfway up the stairs when the hairs on my neck rose.Something is wrong, very wrong. I ran back down the stairs and looked out the door. Genuine fear I hadn’t felt in ages crept up my spine at what I saw. The Raven witches walked toward the barrier, holding the wolves in a containment spell. It wasn’t just the Phantom Moon wolves either,
Izabele“NOOOOO! You can’t! You can’t sacrifice yourself like this!” I raged while I slammed my fist into the door that wouldn’t open. Whether it was her or the house that locked me in, I didn’t know, and I didn’t care; I was mad at both of them. I bellowed at the door, trying to claw my way out when someone interrupted me.“Umm, Ms. O...Ms. O? MS. O!” I turned to look at him with tear-stained eyes. He took a step back with his hands up, smart boy.“From the feel of her power, I-uh, think she can handle one witch, right? And-”“NO, she cannot. The High Priestess’s power comes not from fighting or battle spells but from healing. She is our greatest healer and greatest seer. She can see...She can see...she saw this. She insisted she came with me when I said I was coming here. She knew...” I trailed off, not wanting to say what I knew was coming next. Her words from a few day
ReedI stood staring at Ms. O as she worked her magic on Theron. At first, nothing happened. fear coursed up my spine when I saw the look on Ms. O’s face. She couldn’t hide the terror and sadness in her eyes. I couldn’t make out his heartbeat or even feel his presence for a split second. I dropped to my knees in shock, sitting there, helpless, beside his bed. This wasn’t happening, this couldn’t-Slowly, I saw Theron’s skin turn from ash to golden brown, and his breathing grew steadily. Without thinking, I burst out in laughter, a tear sliding down my cheek. My joy was short-lived when I heard slamming and hissing outside the room. Ms. O and I both looked at the door at the exact moment. I became alert immediately when Arkyn pushed to get out. He had been reeling the past few days, needing to fight and protect the pack battling outside these walls.“I’ll protect him. Go! Help them, save her, please.” The last
