Eon let gravity pull him down, watching the trees upside down as he fell off the cliff. When he was halfway down, he let his wolf take over and leap, grabbing a rocky edge, pulling himself up, gracefully and in complete ease. Elyon and the other wolves were already waiting for him. They all had changed into their human form, waiting for him, cheering with awe.
“At least, you are in much better condition than your sports car.” Grinning with pride, Elyon welcomes him with a big hug. “Your father would be so happy to hear that you’re home.”
“I doubt that,” he whispered under his breath when he opened his arms to accept the brotherly hug that Elyon gave him. “It seemed like the pack had a lot of new faces,” he said as he scanned the men, mostly in their early twenties, standing a few feet behind Elyon.
“Silly! These young men were those boys that were crying behind you as you left us.”
Eon watched them give him a shy smile as if they were embarrassed abou
Eon and his father sat down around the campfire and none could be heard except the chirping of the insects and the tree branches slapping each other as the wind blew. The rest of the wolves went back to their respective task of guarding the borders of their territory. Elyon didn’t have to tell him that things weren’t the same in the past.Eon heard his father clear his throat but he didn’t take his eyes off the crackling fire. The atmosphere between them was painfully awkward and Eon felt like he regressed into his young self, fearing his father’s overwhelming presence.“It’s a surprise to have you here.” He bent down and put another log on the fire. “When Elyon came back with the story of your successful fight over a territory, I had given up on trying to bring you home.”“Did you really?” He asked with a sneer. He knew his father. Giving up wasn’t in his vocabulary. He was about to say mor
“In love?” He spat the words, mockingly and with utter disdain. “I’d already lost my Luna. Don’t make me laugh.” “Son, don’t underestimate our heart with how much it could feel. We happened to be a little different from the other human race, but we are all still human. The matter of the heart is full of mystery that our brain could not fathom. Don’t close your mind and your heart to falling in love.” He scoffed. He stopped himself to laugh at his father’s words. They are more than just a little different from the human race. They are werewolves. It is questionable if they are even human! And yet, his father thinks of them as a little different? He has a lot of things that he can do that would make any human recoil in fear. For them, werewolves weren’t just a little different from other humans just as his father was saying. “I’m not here to hear your wisdom, father. I’m here to ask for help in finding Lina.” He said in a grave voice. He missed this kind of
“You can buy the mining company?” “How many times do I have to repeat myself?” His brows knotted in annoyance. “Didn’t Elyon tell you of the territory that I’m running?” “You don’t have a pack. You have a company—a business.” His father sadly said. “It doesn’t matter what you call it. What I have could save your pack.” He averted his eyes. Not having a pack wasn’t a problem for him for a long time. He doesn’t feel the need to belong in a company of his own kind, however, coming back to his childhood home brought out a lot of complicated emotions on his chest. It must be because he was anxious by Lina’s disappearance. “Now that we are clear with what I can give you, I want the help I came here for.” “I would assume that the way in the city doesn’t help you find Lina?” “Yes.” He reluctantly agreed. He doesn’t like the smug expression on his father’s face. “I need your best tracker to find me, Lina.” He pulled out Lina’s nightdress. It wa
“Breath through your nose and don’t let your thoughts wander away from the person you’re searching for,” Geo said while kicking his back. They had been standing under the cascading waterfalls even before the sun rose and Geo hadn't given him a break since then. The sun is now high up in the sky. “Stop letting your thoughts spill!” Geo gave his spine another shattering kick. He couldn’t help but grunt when he heard his bones crack. Geo's way of training hasn’t changed but he was no longer a child that would cry because of broken bones and freezing water. When the elder told him that he had to train with Geo, he was expecting this much suffering. Geo wasn’t kind in any way when it comes to his training techniques. Especially when he heard that he was just going to train with him for a week. After that, he would be on his own. He tried to talk to his father because he felt that he got cheated on their deal but his father didn
“There is nothing but the wind,” she muttered under her breath and creased her brows. Why do the words don’t feel like they were hers even though they came out through her mouth? ‘Weird,’ she thought to herself but felt glad for somehow it ease the fear in her heart. Those strange noises had been ongoing for a long time now and light hasn’t come back. She wanted to fall asleep yet, she couldn’t. Those scary noises had been making it impossible for her to do so.She pulled her thin blanket closer to her chest. She began to hate this room that she was in. At first, she was glad that they removed the rope tying her to the bed and the fact that she was being fed on time and no one touches her, but glancing at the lines that she draw every time they brought her food and seeing those lines getting longer, her anger brew for they seemed to mock her.She slid down the bed and stared at the ceiling. This should stop. She can’t jus
“You can run but you can’t hide!”Lina didn’t stop to listen to the man that was running after her. Last night, with the strong gust of wind, a tree branch fell on the roof of her room. The tin roop gave up from the weight of it and Lina took the opportunity to run.She was panting and gasping for air. Her feet were full of wounds and her legs were too tired from running around aimlessly. She had no idea where she was. When she crawled out of the room where her kidnapper kept her, she almost fainted when she saw that she was in the middle of a forest. It’s like her nightmares coming to life but she took a leap and ran anyway.“Fuck!” The man kicked a tree and pulled a phone out of his jeans pocket. He was scrawny and wearing a flannel shirt and he was shivering and so was she. She was observing the man, trying to listen to what he was saying from under the tree roots that she crawled into.“The she-wolf ran!
Lina and the two men guarding her rode an old truck. The rain finally stopped and Lina realized that the place where she was kept captive for how many days—she had no idea that it was an old house until she had a good look at it when they were leaving. They rode in silence and she saw nothing but trees for hours. Lina had a good look at the man’s watch that was sitting on the passenger seat because his hand was resting on the back of the driver's seat and she saw the date and time. She had been stuck in that hateful room for five days! It felt like an eternity and now, she’s on the way to someplace and she had no idea what’s waiting for her there but she had already made a decision to escape no matter what. She hunched down, pretending to be asleep but every now and then, she would open her eyes and check their surroundings. She became alert when they finally reached a wider road and the trees surrounding them became thinner. She swallowed nervously wh
Lina blinked and opened her eyes into the darkness. She could hear the faint sounds of the rain as it pitter-pattered on the tin roof. She ran her hands all over her body and she didn’t feel anything strange except for the heaviness of her eyelids. The jerks injected something in her that made her fall asleep on the road. She had no idea where she was but she’s still lying in the backseat of the old truck. She slapped her face to wake herself up and slowly pushed her body up the seat. She had to hurry. If they come back, she won’t be able to escape. Before they injected her with the drugs that drove her into a deep slumber, the men discussed how they had to just put enough to put her down while they were at the house of the other man. They needed her awake when they presented her to the elders of the pack. She had no idea what they meant but it’s not the time to know those things. There are a lot of things that she didn’t know and had no plan of knowing. She pushed the door
