Chapter 26

He cautioned, confidently and with a sneaky smirk, "You will regret it."

"I have nothing to regret," I answered, my gaze locked with his fascinating blue eyes.

He lay on the ground in the dimly lit classroom, illuminated by moonlight coming through the window, while I stood upright, one knee planted firmly on his chest. My hand was decked with a gorgeous sword ornamented with a dragon motif, its grasp solid. A new blade scar beneath his left eye, a reminder of the fierce battle we had just had, scarred his face.

He displayed his artificial gold tooth, which contrasted with his other white front teeth, between bursts of laughing and coughs. His once-pristine black coat was now ripped and stained with blood, and a missing tooth lay in a corner with broken chairs and his black revolver. I pressed against his chest, and his ragged breathing revealed the anguish produced by my heavy shoe.

He joked, "I'm sure you miss your little bride."

"Bride?" his statements grabbed my interest

Falkor's mocking words reminded me of Raven Elsher, the guy who had betrayed me after I had aided him. "Do you remember Raven Elsher?" Falkor teased me.After visiting the grave of a nameless child with Raven, I never saw him again."You are legally bound to her; without me, you could not reach her." Falkor cleverly utilized Sansa as a shield, knowing full well that she was of considerable interest to me."Is Lucinda Hansley still alive?" I sought proof because her fate had always eluded me."She died shortly after giving birth to Sansa," Falkor admitted openly.Raven had shed genuine tears at Lucinda's burial. Lucinda appeared to have died beside the unidentified infant after suffering great pain while giving delivery in a precarious scenario. This news shattered my presumption of a stillborn child.Falkor saw a
