Chapter 4: Caught

Alice quickly tore her eyes away from his. Luckily, a cab stopped nearby. She hastily walked towards it and quickly got inside.

Zade's eyebrows creased as he watched the strange guy get into the car. His friend, Francesco, came down next and pushed his platinum hair backward.

"What are you staring at?" Francesco asked Zade, who seemed to be lost in thought.

"Nothing," Zade said, and he walked into the large building with Francesco behind him.

He had been immersed in finding the little thief who had double-crossed him, but it seemed she had vanished into thin air. That was fine, though; he would definitely find her. It was just a matter of time.

The workers who passed him kept greeting him, but he never responded. He wore a cold and stoic expression on his face, his aura commanding respect from passersby.

He arrived at the front of Enzo's office and entered unannounced, with Francesco behind him.

"Zade," Enzo called, surprised by his presence in his office.

"Grandfather," Zade replied coldly.

Seeing the room become even more tense, Enzo's secretary quickly left the room and shut the double doors behind her.

………..

Alice held her chest tightly as she shut the door and ran all the way to her room. What the hell was that? What on earth was that guy doing at Vclass Mobile? There was no way he would recognize her, though. He wouldn’t. She tried to calm herself.

His words resounded in her ears: "You said you're good at many things; does that include being good in bed?"

………

Alice stood right in front of Enzo, dressed in a white baggy t-shirt and black baggy jeans. She wore white sneakers to match, a black wig, a mustache, and, just to be safe, brown contact lenses.

"A good friend of mine recommended you, but I have to test you to make sure you're fit to become my bodyguard. Do you understand, Simone?" Enzo asked, and Alice nodded.

She believed in her skills and knew she would ace whatever test Enzo was talking about.

Enzo led her to a room on the highest floor of the building. There were various workout and training equipment in the large space. Enzo snapped his fingers, and six armed men entered the room. The worst part was that they were armed.

"Let's see how you'll perform," Enzo said as he walked into a compartment with a see-through glass, where he could watch the show.

Alice gulped as the six men began approaching her, and they were far larger than her in size. Three of them held knives, two held large hammers, and the last one held a long chain.

They all rushed toward her at once, and Alice readied herself for battle. One of them swung a hammer at her, and she easily dodged it. She kicked him hard in the face, and her foot made contact with his eyes, making him go blind. He fell to the floor, whimpering in pain.

Another man nearly stabbed her with his knife, but she dodged the attack and gave him a heavy slap on his cheek. She kneed him in the middle, and he went down. Grabbing his knife, she stabbed the next man in the stomach, and he fell.

She was left with just three of them. One swung his thick chain at her; she dodged it, but it grazed her arm, causing it to bleed.

Alice pulled out the small knife she had been hiding in her outfit and threw it at the man with the chain. The knife lodged into his throat, and he fell. She defeated the remaining two, and soon all six men were sprawled on the floor.

Enzo approached her, clapping his hands with an approving grin on his face. "You've really impressed me, Simone. I must have underestimated you. Good job," Enzo said.

"Thank you," Alice replied in her practiced manly voice.

After that, Enzo's secretary showed her to her spacious office, and Alice loved the space. She was given a black suit to wear, which would be her uniform as Enzo's bodyguard.

Thankfully, Enzo's secretary, Clara, left the room afterward, and Alice sighed in relief. She sat in the plush chair for a while before finally changing into her black tailored suit. It looked quite large on her, and she had to make a few adjustments.

"Perfect," Alice grinned at her reflection in the mirror.

She suddenly heard the alarm indicating someone was at the door. Without waiting for her to respond, the person opened the door and entered.

Alice's heart raced when she saw the guy from the hotel standing right in front of her. What was he doing here? Alice couldn’t deny how striking his appearance was; he was undeniably handsome, far more handsome than Collin. Alice shook the thought away and stared at him with a straight face.

"Who are you? Why are you here?" Alice asked, trying to compose herself so her voice would sound manly enough.

"Pardon me for not introducing myself. I am Zade Vicenzo, Enzo's grandson," Zade said as he stared at her with his intelligent gray eyes.

Alice's eyes widened slightly as the realization that he was Enzo's grandson sank in. Did that mean she would be seeing him often? She hoped not.

"Simone Leonardo. I'm Mr. Vicenzo's bodyguard," Alice introduced herself.

"Did you have fun playing your little game?" Zade’s question made her heart race, and her face paled instantly. Had he found out?

Alice cleared her throat. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," she said, wishing someone would come in to interrupt them, but it never happened.

"Don’t you?" he asked with a sinister smirk on his lips, as mirth danced in his eyes. His cold gaze ravaged her body, making Alice shudder fearfully. He began walking toward her, and Alice’s heart raced madly.

She took nervous steps backward and gasped when her back collided with the wall. Zade stood right in front of her, so close that she became fully aware of his presence.

"Did you have fun playing hide and seek?" he asked, and if it were possible, Alice would have merged with the wall in her attempt to get as far away from him as possible.

"Or did you think I wouldn’t find you, Alice?" His voice lowered dangerously, but she clearly heard him. Her eyes became moist as tears threatened to fall; he knew.
