Snapping back to reality, he ran over to Jeana. "Jeana, you need to get up. Dad is really rich. He can buy you as many fake butts as you want."

Jeana's expression stiffened at his words. She explained, "Noah, when I said 'work my butt off,' I didn't mean to really work my butt off of me."

Noah didn't seem to fully understand those words. "If that's not what you meant, then what did you mean?"

Jeana was at a loss, unsure how to explain such a metaphor to a child.

However, seeing that Xavier didn't seem inclined to keep her around, she realized that the child in front of her might be the key to her staying.

"It's just a figure of speech, Noah. Would you like me to stay? If I stay, I can make you delicious food every day, take you to school, and even play games with you on the weekends."
