"I'm afraid our plans may have to change," he said, his voice trembling slightly, unsure of how Jerry would take the news.

"How? What happened?" Jerry’s voice was sharp, his eyes narrowing as he leaned forward in his seat.

James took a deep breath and quickly relayed everything—the chaos in the pack, the attack on Diana, Evelyn’s disappearance, and Grayson’s collapse into despair.

"I didn’t expect it to spiral like this. Grayson’s not just emotionally broken, He’s a shadow of himself now." James explained.

"How could this happen?" Jerry scoffed, kicking the air in frustration. "How are we supposed to lure Grayson out of the pack now?"

James hesitated, then spoke, his voice low, almost pleading.

"There’s no need to lure him out. He’s not a threat anymore. He’s weak and vulnerable. You could come in and attack the pack directly. But… I ask that you don’t destroy everything."

A dark smile tugged at Jerry’s lips. "He’s a shadow of himself, you say? That means the poison worked," he said,

Evelyn woke up with a jolt, startled by the rustling of a rabbit searching for food nearby. She had fallen asleep against the rough bark of a tree trunk, her body curled tightly for warmth. Clutching her arms to her chest, she shivered, the chill of the night still clinging to her. For a brief moment, she allowed herself to relax, her heartbeat steadying as she realized the intruder was only a harmless creature. Her dress was torn and muddied, her skin covered in red spots from insect bites. Her lips were cracked, her throat parched, and her eyes red and heavy from her sobs."Evelyn, pull yourself together. We can’t survive another day if we remain like this," Viola urged, her voice laced with concern.Evelyn wiped the tears streaming down her face with trembling hands."I never thought I would spend my wedding night in a forest," she whispered bitterly. "I should have been in Grayson's arms, safe and loved. Instead, I’ve been humiliated, and... I lost my virginity to a stranger. So

Lisa held her neck gingerly, her fingers brushing over the bruises left by Grayson's grip. The sting was sharp, but her lips curved into a crooked smile as she walked out of Grayson's quarters."This time, everything will fall into place. No one will stop me—not even Grayson," she muttered under her breath, her voice low and cold.As she entered Diana's hospital room, her demeanor shifted instantly. Her face softened into a bright, seemingly genuine smile."Hey there," Lisa said cheerfully, approaching Diana’s bedside."Why not just finish her off completely? You have the perfect opportunity now," Missy whispered in her mind.Lisa’s smile faltered for a second but returned quickly. "Oh, Missy, don’t be ridiculous. Diana is our sister," Lisa said aloud, her tone light as she pretended to check Diana’s vitals."Sister?" Missy sneered. "What if she wakes up and tells everyone what really happened? You’ll be finished."Lisa let out a soft laugh. "She won’t wake up, Missy. You saw the d

I checked here too, and you were nowhere to be found,” James countered, his tone laced with suspicion as he narrowed his eyes. “What are you up to, Lisa?”Lisa folded her arms, her demeanor shifting to one of defiance. “I was running some personal errands. Not that it’s any of your business,” she shot back.James raised an eyebrow, his lips curving into a humorless chuckle. His eyes darkened as he stepped closer. “I see right through you, Lisa,” he thought but kept the thought to himself. “Let’s get to the point. Beta Luke rushed into the hospital room, his heart pounding. The room was in complete disarray—chairs overturned, a shattered vase on the floor—but no sign of an intruder. His sharp eyes scanned the area before he spotted Diana in the inner room, tucked safely behind the locked door.“Lisa must’ve moved her,” he muttered, though unease churned in his gut. Something didn’t feel right.Moments later, Lisa burst into the room, her face pale and her eyes wide with apparent fear.Luke crossed his arms and fixed her with a hard stare. “What happened? How did the intruder get in here, and what does he look like?”Lisa hesitated just enough to make her story up. “I—I don’t know exactly. My instincts told me there was danger, so I quickly pushed Diana into the inner room and locked her in. Then this... massive man, with broad shoulders, stormed in and attacked me. I was too scared to initiate a link to alert you because of what happened to me the last time, so I ran to find you.”Luke’s jaw t

Evelyn crouched low, her piercing eyes tracking the small rabbit darting through the underbrush. Her wolf, Viola, growled softly in her mind.“Faster, Evelyn. That rabbit isn’t going to wait for us,” Viola urged.“I’ve got this,” Evelyn muttered under her breath, tightening her grip on the makeshift spear she had carved from a sturdy branch. The rabbit paused, ears twitching, and in that split second, Evelyn sprang forward and threw the spear at the rabbit, the spear landing squarely. The rabbit collapsed instantly. Evelyn exhaled deeply, a mixture of relief and guilt flooding her chest.“It’s survival,” Viola reminded her, her voice firm but gentle.Evelyn nodded. “I know.”She carried her catch back to the small clearing where a modest fire crackled. Working swiftly, she skinned the rabbit and skewered the meat over the flames.
