THREE YEARS LATER

Picking up the call as soon as Diego got into the bathroom, Camilla said;

“Bastian! What are you insisting on the same? I told you I couldn’t talk to you know!”

“You haven’t picked up my calls, dear Cam. What am I going to do, uh? The merchandise is ready to be exported. What am I going to do, ah?”

“Shhh! I don’t need to keep you remind me what I have to do!”

“It’s getting late, Cam. It’s getting late. And if you don’t-”

“Don’t ever dare to threaten me again like the last time. Let me remind you that you wouldn’t as powerful as you are if it hadn’t been for me.”

The laugh of Bastian was heard from the other line. “Oh! Really? Now you’re telling me that you’re the one I should respect because if it hadn’t been for you I wouldn’t be in this place. Well, I think you’re forgetting the part where I found you instead of Cameron and that allow you to do what exactly you’re doing to Diego Ferrer.”

“Fuck you!”

“Hey, hey, madam Cameron wouldn’t say things like that.”

CANADA Arriving at one of the most famous malls in the city, a car stopped in front of the sliding crystal door. From the car a woman in her 30’s got off, and in her hand the little hand of a five-year-old.The brown hair up, the black suit with the black heels. In her right arm the red bag that matched the sunglasses. Even her smooth makeup gave her that touch of mysteriousness she needed to confront to all people who had taken advantage from her. But of course, that day wasn’t going to be the one where she was going to appear in front of her husband and her dear sister, the one who also played her fool. Now, time had changed her. Now, she wasn’t the same fool. Now, three years had gone by and they hadn’t gone away in vain.“Mom, why are we here?” Gadriel asked as soon as his little green eyes danced around.Needless to say Gadriel felt bored by the idea of walking in that mall. Surely, there wasn’t going to be any fun around.Without Gadriel noticing his mother, Cameron just caress

Camilla smiled. Of course she was as shocked as her sister to have found there in such circumstances. But the difference was clear, the real Cameron had nothing to hide, and it’d a pleasure to talk to her and the world she left there three years ago, but she also knew it wasn’t the best moment.Putting on her sunglasses to not reveal her identity yet, she smiled and stood up. Slowly, turned around. She was another woman. There was no way Diego could recognize her. “Daddy!” The little girl said, running to her father.“Oh! My love!” Diego lifted up his daughter.“Daddy, I was lost. This is my new friend. He wanted to adopt me. His mom was going to start looking for you. Daddy, can I invite my new friend to our house. I can ask Rose to prepare us a delicious dessert.”For a strange reason Diego felt the need to pay attention to the woman in front of her and, for the first time, not focus on what he loved the most. His daughter. For the first time what she was saying wasn’t so importa

It was the third time that she tried to contact him but the man never answered.“As soon as you heard this message, call me back. We have a big problem!” Camilla said to the phone, then she sent the message.Walking back and forth in her room, there were many thoughts running in her head. Cameron had come back. The real Cameron was there in Canada. The secrets were about to come out. She wasn’t Cameron. But there was something she couldn’t take out of her head and it was the smile Cameron gave her like she was making fun of her, or she’d told her she was coming for her…. She didn’t know. That smile, that tenebrous smile was the thing she couldn’t take out of her head.Trembling, Camilla looked for the little bottle of pills she always took when she felt nervous, anxious, happy, sleepless, relaxed… The truth was she was already addicted to pills.“You’re not going to take anything from me, Cameron! I swear to God!” When Diego and his daughter arrived at home, Miss. Rose

ONE DAY LATER The meeting room was already occupied by the people who had been asked to assist at that important day. Some problems had come out in the last 30 days and the shareholders were there to listen to new solutions Diego Ferrer had for them.Whisperings and comments were heard there. The shareholders comparing their information set on the documents and opinions as long as Mr. Ferrer didn’t appear. It was going to be a big because if there was something for sure it was the fact that the shareholders were not going to allow Mr. Ferrer manage the company as he pleased. He needed to heard them out. The company had gone through so much and had put up with so much more thanks to the same holders.Meanwhile, in the main hallway of the company and the one which lead to the meeting room, a well-dressed man appeared with three more men dressed in black suits and walkie talkie headsets escorting him. Diego knew nothing good was going to come out of that meeting. The shareholders were m

Relying her head on his chest, Camilla –the real Camilla- was playing with one of her curls while listening to what Bastian had to say. Doubtless to say they were right for each other. Just the white blanket“I told you. You have to be more… you know, right? A little more pleaser to him. You need to let him know you can also be your sister. There’s an important part of Cameron in you.”Camilla lighten her cigarette. “Yeah, I’m not going to lose anything what I’ve gotten in these three years. I need to heritage all that grandpa has for me.”“Well, I see you’re wasting your time.”“Why?”“Because if you’re sister is already here, we should start planning something.”“I need to know what play she’s going to be up. I need to know her after those three years. Then, I’ll be able to make my moves.” Camilla shrugged. “That’s exactly what I love the most of you.” And then, the man got up in Camilla, kissing her neck and making her giggle.Cameron was about to know the real Camilla. A FEW DAYS LATER Some days had gone by since Ace and Cameron as Camilla had arrived at that company. They were the majority shareholders, so they had to be there, and even the second majority shareholder –an old man who saw potential in Cameron to lead the company with Ace and, of course, Diego proposed Ace and Cameron a place in the company where they work side by side with Diego Ferrer and make that work.Cameron didn’t turn down the offer. She needed to be close to that man to make him pay for what he did. She needed to approach her twin sister. Unlike the real Camilla, she didn’t know how her sister would act. With a folder in her hands, she walked to the office where the CEO of the company was waiting for her.Meantime, the same man who couldn’t take out of her head the vivid image of Camilla as Cameron and the way Cameron in his house had become a sweeter woman, that was kinda crazy and hard to believe. In which moment the woman started being all sweet and patient? He didn’t re

In the kitchen where Ace and the little boy were busy preparing the pasta that the baby had promised to his mother to be on the table as soon as she was back, Ace and Gadriel enjoyed their time together. Between laughs and smiles, Ace felt indeed the father of that baby boy. That was exactly what he wanted for his wife. A lovely family. A woman who could love him and his son.It seemed like Ace could finally forgive Diego for what he had done in the past. Now, Diego could continue with his life and Ace dedicate all of his time to the little family Cameron and him had constructed over those three years.“Daddy?” The little boy called his attention.“Mmmm?” Ace replied while frying the meat that was going to accompany the pasta.“Why don’t we have photos of you and my mommy dressed with a long white dress? Walking up the stairs, Diego massaged the right corner of his lip, he was bleeding, his nose, lips and his right cheek was bleeding. It was still hard to think about what he had discovered. There was no way he could put up with that. Regret and remorse. That was all his heart felt. When Diego was on the second floor of that big house, walking through the hallway, he ran into someone. Among all the people who could have seen that day, it had to be her.Her eyes widened. Camilla, stuffed in a white towel, gasped at seeing Diego’s face bleeding.Diego didn’t feel anything good for her. Seeing her like that, with her eyes showing the concern she never felt for him or for their daughter made him want to take that woman right there and put her on her kneels while confessing all the things she had done to be there and take away what was Cameron’s life.He just simply hated her because she wasn’t Cameron. She was the real Camilla. But the stupid one had been him for not figuring it out earlie

With her look clouded, Cameron and Renata were accompanied by each other, feeling the same pain. By that moment Renata knew the boy was her sister’s son, but it was Cameron the one who loved him as his own mother. The same went for Tita. They didn’t care if Tita was adopted or not, Tita was their baby. And very soon, Cameron’s baby as well.Around ten cars, counting patrols where Ace and Diego were travelling, they arrived to one of the loneliest forests. Ace had indicated them to drive there. He knew Camilla was going to take the kids there, since he’d talked to her some minutes ago like he agreed on the plan. The truth was police was with them. Ace was going to confess everything. When they found Camilla, she was with the two kids crying and screaming at the edge of a cliff. Tita and Gadriel were tied up. Police were there.“Please, Camilla, give me the kids. You can’t do this to them. You were the mother of two. Please, we can start over. Give me the kids!” Cameron begged on her kn

With tears in her eyes, Cameron begged for Susan to have mercy on her. It was pointless to still saying that she had nothing to do with that when it was clear that it was her handwriting that had been printed on those little pieces of paper. The following day after the wedding that didn’t take place in reality, all Cameron did was look for Susan until the next day she found her. And now they were, Cameron running behind her over the hallways, trying to talk her in the declaration against Ace if he was guilty of course. If police didn’t find anything against Ace, Diego was going to carry the heaviness of another five years for faking information. Cameron wanted to save him. Cameron wanted to be justice, the justice that didn’t reach Eliza earlier.“If you know something, you should say it!” Cameron said.Susan turned around. There was way she could declare against Ace. Ace had been a real friend to her, if Susa did that it was going to be like betraying who did his best for her; like a

“Ace was fated to be with Eliza, but I was the one who came into their way. Ace and Eliza were the real protagonists of this story.” Diego started saying. “I fell for her just by silly conversations one day that Ace asked me to take care of his chat since he’d already had a fight with his soon to be wife, at least that was how he wanted it to happen. It was my mistake. I made her fall for me and when we met, I already knew she was going to come to me since I’d told her Ace was the real intruder, the friend of mine who was doing that favor of talking to her while I couldn’t. I changed the roles, Cameron. I married Eliza and wanted to make up to him, so I decided it’d be a good idea if he became one of the major shareholders until he could make his company one of the biggest not far from mine. Cameron, I wanted your family to take responsibility for that and your grandfather never knew that.”The more Diego said, the harder he was hitting in her heart. Tears came down. Cameron denied co

You know that the man was in some dirty business, right?” “Yes, I knew it , but I don’t think they could have done something like this.” “You know how that people could be. Even if you owe him a single buck that can be paid with your life.” Edmund sat down across his friend. “Something here isn’t okay.” “Of course; delinquency.” “No, I’m not saying so. What I’m saying is that we should find out who was the killer here.” “Come on, Edmund! That’s not easy! They’re all criminals. We can’t just simply…” “What are you trying to say? The sun rays could not shine any brighter for her as it was the happiest day of her life. Finally, after so much, having traveled that path of roses and thorns, dawn was breaking. Strong and clear rays of light. At least, that was Cameron wanted to think. She had to know this time she was marrying because she wanted to, not because someone was forcing her to do it. In a moment like that Cameron needed of her family, but sooner she realized her family was reduced to Camilla. This time her grandfather wasn’t going to take her to the altar where the only one should be waiting for her. When Bastian came back to his cell, he couldn’t help but feel like a relief in his heart after what he’d said to Cameron. Of course he would have liked she had understood what he tried to say, but there was a hunch in his heart that was telling him she just needed some time to think about it and see he was right. Cameron didn’t need to marry Ace when he was giving her the proof they needed to make Camilla get back to her place and Diego also have with he always loved by his side.In front of the cell where Bastian was, the other man who Camilla had talked with started studying him. The man needed to watch every single of his steps if he really wanted to get many things from the woman he’d just met.“Is that him?” One of his men asked him.The man looked firmly at Bastian. “Yes, he is. He’s identical to the photo the woman showed me.”“What do we do now?”“We need time. We need to watch his steps and watch out ours. No one can see us.”The other man beside him giggled. “It’s not like p

Running behind him for more than five streets, Edmund finally got Diego. The man was acting without thinking. All those things going on in his life were driving him wild. When Cameron had said she was going to become his karma, she wasn’t just talking.“Hold on… Diego… Hold on!” Edmund stopped him. His chest going up and down showed how much he’d run.“I can’t let this happen.”“You’re acting wild. You don’t know what’s wrong and what’s right now. You just see what you want to see. Diego, you’re not the hero of the story. Don’t pretend who you can’t be when you don’t even know what to do with your own problems.”“Thank you, Edmund.”It’s hard for people to realize the world isn’t what we want it to be with a single act. It’s even harder to realize we’re not the heroes of our stories.“The saying says if you want to help others, first help yourself. Cameron deserves to be happy after all the things she went through with you.”“Why does everyone think I’m her wrong?! Why does everyone t

Bastian didn’t understand what the woman was saying, or maybe, he didn’t want to understand what was clearer than water raining in autumn.Camilla was evil. What made him think that she was going to help him get the hell out of here? Camilla had been clear enough when she said Bastian was no longer in her interests. She had put the eye on another man. Someone who was more interesting, more powerful or of course, more handsome. For Camilla, all those years, Bastian was her happy moment after having fought with Diego. He was her little break, her better than nothing, but eventually, even that little break he was for her ends up bothering more than the fights she could have with Diego. Bastian’s smile erased. “What are you trying to say?”“Maybe that you’ll stay here for some years if you still want to have power when you come out of here.”Bastian denied with his head. The gaze he was giving her talked the words that couldn’t be pronounced by his mouth. The woman had shocked him with

So, it wasn’t a game? She wasn’t playing at all? It seemed like she was never going to trust him. What else did she need to understand how guilty Diego felt for what he did to her years ago? Now, the one who seemed to be playing with his feelings was her. One night she appeared in the hotel where he had asked her to be, Diego had confessed her his feelings and she allowed him to love every single part of her body and the next day, they were there like two strangers with nothing in common aside from the possibility of Diego getting out of there as long as he didn’t say anything against Camilla. Cameron had to be going crazy. There was no way Cameron could take her sister’s side after all the shit she had made her go through.Getting up from her seat, Cameron looked at him for the last time. “Good luck, Diego Ferrer.
