Closing their laptops, putting away their documents and all the notes they had taken during the meeting, the doors of the meeting room opened as the personal went out.

Finally, Diego had the chance to breath out. Everything had been a little more complicate since that night where he saw desperation in Cameron’s face and he did nothing. He couldn’t concentrate as he did before, the way he ran his meetings was no longer the same. He even had to ask help to his secretary.

With his mind full of thoughts he couldn’t clearly read, Diego sat on his leather chair. The personal had already left.

Diego had become who swore he would not be.

Leaning his head on his right hand in a worried and exasperated way, he closed his eyes.

Once again Cameron appeared in his dreams. It was like a curse. He couldn’t be alone. He couldn’t close his eyes to recompose himself just for a couple of seconds. He had to keep doing something otherwise, Cameron seemed to come to him like his karma.

But that wasn’t th

With her eyes lost into nothingness, her mind full of memories and the words of that man who swore to come back just for her, Cameron had sat up on the bed. There were no words to say. There was no reality to trust. And that worried Bastian, who was looking through the window two meters away from Cameron’s bed, and Ace, who didn’t know what he had just heard.“I looked for you, Cameron,” Bastian insisted, turning to face her. “I thought you could be her, I wanted to make sure of what my eyes were seeing every time I was with her. I didn’t know you had a twin sister, Cameron. I did not know it.”“Why don’t you just shut the fuck up?” Ace raised his voice.“Okay, man, I’m not talking to you. I’m talking to Cameron, my girlfriend, Okay?! So, if I bother you, why don’t you get the hell out of here?” Bastian said.“Why don’t you come and-““That’s enough!” Finally, Cameron spoke.Bastian and Ace looked at her. She seemed too weak that all Ace could think of was to stay by her side and supp

“You have to eat something.” Ace insisted for the fifth time.Lost in her thoughts, Cameron just looked at him. Last night had been one of the toughest in her life. She couldn’t sleep. She had spent all her night crying, imagining and taking back memories that seemed to just be a lie. Her grandfather had lied to her. Her grandfather had negotiated with her like she was a kind of an object, he made her marry to that heartless man who never touched his heart to humiliate her. “Cameron, Cameron, please.” Ace said.“I don’t want to eat. I-I… Everything seemed to be a lie now. I don’t know where I’m stepping on. Suddenly, all my plans to go overseas are smashed just for a person who wears m own face like it was of her.”Ace could perfectly understand that the more time it went by, the harder it’d be to believe she had a twin sister that no one talked about in her past.“I want to see her,” Cameron whispered. I need to talk to her. I need to make sure she’s not lying.” Cameron stood up ou

Walking back and forth with a hand on her waist, Cameron couldn’t understand how that could happen. It seemed like destiny was trying to force her to face him after all what he did to her and what he said to her.“How come he can be that kind of man?” Cameron asked.“You don’t need to go to him if you don’t want.” Ace supported.“Oh! Really? What about my family? My grandfather is all I have in this world. Ahh! I don’t know what to do!” Expressed Cameron exasperated at the same she took a seat.Ace had no much to do for her. Just when Cameron had made the decision to finally see her sister after having digested the fact she had a twin sister, it’d been enough for Ace to go to the mall that morning and buy all the things they were going to need for their travel when a couple of men dressed in black told his presence was required. They’d escorted to one of the loneliest halls in that mall until he saw him. He knew what it was all about.Diego had been clear. If Cameron didn’t decide to

With her eyes still closed, Cameron heard Diego’s giggle. Slowly, she opened her eyes just to find Diego separating his lips from hers between a mocking laugh. For an instant, Cameron felt stupid.“What’s so funny?” Cameron asked.“No matter what, buy you won’t change. No matter what you’ll still be just a damn table dancer!”Those words hit Cameron hard.“What?”“Such a prostitute dreaming of kissing princes.”Diego was never going to change. Not even in her best dreams Diego’d be a different person.Denying with her head, clearly hurt, Cameron wiped away her tears with the back of her hand and walked off.“Run! Run, Cameron! Run into Ace’s arms or the best bidder!”Without knowing Diego had chosen his path. If no one in his past had made him regret his decisions, if no one in the past hadn’t had the guts to become his karma, Cameron would. Sonner or later, but she will. Walking by the sidewalk, the enormous buildings of the city imposing power, the dark sky and just

After some minutes Cameron knew the way her sister had lived for all those years. It hadn’t been easy for her. It was clear that Camilla had to work in many places to survive in a world like this. It wasn’t necessary for Camilla to describe ever single job she had until she ended up being a dancer in a cabaret, and that was where the doors of a new life opened. There she discovered a better way to get more money. In a way, she started to like that new life, where she felt she had control over men. It was enough for her to move her hips as they liked to get some bills.Cameron sighed countless times. She didn’t know what to say. Cameron knew her life had been difficult but at that moment, she felt such a stupid knowing the problems she’d gone through had been nothing in comparison of her sister’s.The real problem was when she asked about the baby; whose baby was it? Camilla was speechless.“Please, tell me, you can trust me, Camilla. You can tell me what happened. I want to do things

Just when Diego had made the decision to tell him the truth, it seemed like it was going to be easier than he thought it’d be.All he could see in Mr. Milan face was anger. He was really mad at his son-in-law for not telling him what that was all about.“Stop with your lies. I do know she hasn’t been with you for the last 30 days! Where the hell is she? Why did you want to breach the contract before?! I’m sick of this! I’m sick of her being my granddaughter! I should’ve kept her sister and not her!”Diego frowned. Had he heard him well? What sister? What he was talking about?“What did you say?” Diego asked. At that moment Mr. Milan saw confusion in Diego. He’d made a mistake.“Sister? What sister are you talking about, Mr. Milan?”Federico denied with a gesture. “No, it’s nothing. I was just… Forget it, Diego! Don’t even try to change the subject, okay? With a hand on his waist, walking back and forth, listening to what Cameron was telling him between tears, he couldn’t believe destiny was too unfair to do that to him. He didn’t want to be stuck with a woman like her. Someone who had stepped on his pride, but there was something in his heart that didn’t allow him to throw her away. There were nights were he still remembered the first and last kiss, the night he went to look for her just to find her with Ace. She was so drunk that night that all what happened then must’ve been a consequence of such thing. Even thought, Diego didn’t have the heart to take advantage of that. Unlike Cameron, he indeed succumbed to her. After what Cameron had declared to him, he immediately asked her to wait for him in the meeting room since her grandfather was there and she didn’t want him to know about it. According to her, she didn’t want to provoke him any bad.“So, that’s all, Diego. I can’t tell my grandfather that I’m dying because I want to believ

As time went by, Cameron started overcoming her problems, she started leaving the past behind and focused on her real present where Ace offered everything she needed to trust better things were coming. Of course it hadn’t been easy for her to raise that child she prayed for every single night. The more time she spent with him, the more connected she felt to him. He was such a kind baby. She was sure if she would’ve been able to have babies on her own, they would’ve been exactly like the woman who began to walk and pronounce certain words.Ace had seen her struggle every night. There were moments where nothing was easy and perfect despite the love she felt for him even when he wasn’t her son. The little Gadriel had come down with a flu a couple of times and there she had discovered the little Gadriel was kinda delicate when it came to being sick.Slowly, Ace started seeing deeper in her. It wasn’t the beautiful face she faced the world with, it wasn’t the need Ace had to make Diego pay

With her look clouded, Cameron and Renata were accompanied by each other, feeling the same pain. By that moment Renata knew the boy was her sister’s son, but it was Cameron the one who loved him as his own mother. The same went for Tita. They didn’t care if Tita was adopted or not, Tita was their baby. And very soon, Cameron’s baby as well.Around ten cars, counting patrols where Ace and Diego were travelling, they arrived to one of the loneliest forests. Ace had indicated them to drive there. He knew Camilla was going to take the kids there, since he’d talked to her some minutes ago like he agreed on the plan. The truth was police was with them. Ace was going to confess everything. When they found Camilla, she was with the two kids crying and screaming at the edge of a cliff. Tita and Gadriel were tied up. Police were there.“Please, Camilla, give me the kids. You can’t do this to them. You were the mother of two. Please, we can start over. Give me the kids!” Cameron begged on her kn

With tears in her eyes, Cameron begged for Susan to have mercy on her. It was pointless to still saying that she had nothing to do with that when it was clear that it was her handwriting that had been printed on those little pieces of paper. The following day after the wedding that didn’t take place in reality, all Cameron did was look for Susan until the next day she found her. And now they were, Cameron running behind her over the hallways, trying to talk her in the declaration against Ace if he was guilty of course. If police didn’t find anything against Ace, Diego was going to carry the heaviness of another five years for faking information. Cameron wanted to save him. Cameron wanted to be justice, the justice that didn’t reach Eliza earlier.“If you know something, you should say it!” Cameron said.Susan turned around. There was way she could declare against Ace. Ace had been a real friend to her, if Susa did that it was going to be like betraying who did his best for her; like a

“Ace was fated to be with Eliza, but I was the one who came into their way. Ace and Eliza were the real protagonists of this story.” Diego started saying. “I fell for her just by silly conversations one day that Ace asked me to take care of his chat since he’d already had a fight with his soon to be wife, at least that was how he wanted it to happen. It was my mistake. I made her fall for me and when we met, I already knew she was going to come to me since I’d told her Ace was the real intruder, the friend of mine who was doing that favor of talking to her while I couldn’t. I changed the roles, Cameron. I married Eliza and wanted to make up to him, so I decided it’d be a good idea if he became one of the major shareholders until he could make his company one of the biggest not far from mine. Cameron, I wanted your family to take responsibility for that and your grandfather never knew that.”The more Diego said, the harder he was hitting in her heart. Tears came down. Cameron denied co

You know that the man was in some dirty business, right?” “Yes, I knew it , but I don’t think they could have done something like this.” “You know how that people could be. Even if you owe him a single buck that can be paid with your life.” Edmund sat down across his friend. “Something here isn’t okay.” “Of course; delinquency.” “No, I’m not saying so. What I’m saying is that we should find out who was the killer here.” “Come on, Edmund! That’s not easy! They’re all criminals. We can’t just simply…” “What are you trying to say? The sun rays could not shine any brighter for her as it was the happiest day of her life. Finally, after so much, having traveled that path of roses and thorns, dawn was breaking. Strong and clear rays of light. At least, that was Cameron wanted to think. She had to know this time she was marrying because she wanted to, not because someone was forcing her to do it. In a moment like that Cameron needed of her family, but sooner she realized her family was reduced to Camilla. This time her grandfather wasn’t going to take her to the altar where the only one should be waiting for her. They were going to be a happy family, that was all she wanted to think.“You look beautiful, Miss Cameron! “said one of the women who served her for that day.The white dress together with the veil fell like a beautiful white wave over her. When Bastian came back to his cell, he couldn’t help but feel like a relief in his heart after what he’d said to Cameron. Of course he would have liked she had understood what he tried to say, but there was a hunch in his heart that was telling him she just needed some time to think about it and see he was right. Cameron didn’t need to marry Ace when he was giving her the proof they needed to make Camilla get back to her place and Diego also have with he always loved by his side.In front of the cell where Bastian was, the other man who Camilla had talked with started studying him. The man needed to watch every single of his steps if he really wanted to get many things from the woman he’d just met.“Is that him?” One of his men asked him.The man looked firmly at Bastian. “Yes, he is. He’s identical to the photo the woman showed me.”“What do we do now?”“We need time. We need to watch his steps and watch out ours. No one can see us.”The other man beside him giggled. “It’s not like p

Running behind him for more than five streets, Edmund finally got Diego. The man was acting without thinking. All those things going on in his life were driving him wild. When Cameron had said she was going to become his karma, she wasn’t just talking.“Hold on… Diego… Hold on!” Edmund stopped him. His chest going up and down showed how much he’d run.“I can’t let this happen.”“You’re acting wild. You don’t know what’s wrong and what’s right now. You just see what you want to see. Diego, you’re not the hero of the story. Don’t pretend who you can’t be when you don’t even know what to do with your own problems.”“Thank you, Edmund.”It’s hard for people to realize the world isn’t what we want it to be with a single act. It’s even harder to realize we’re not the heroes of our stories.“The saying says if you want to help others, first help yourself. Cameron deserves to be happy after all the things she went through with you.”“Why does everyone think I’m her wrong?! Why does everyone t

Bastian didn’t understand what the woman was saying, or maybe, he didn’t want to understand what was clearer than water raining in autumn.Camilla was evil. What made him think that she was going to help him get the hell out of here? Camilla had been clear enough when she said Bastian was no longer in her interests. She had put the eye on another man. Someone who was more interesting, more powerful or of course, more handsome. For Camilla, all those years, Bastian was her happy moment after having fought with Diego. He was her little break, her better than nothing, but eventually, even that little break he was for her ends up bothering more than the fights she could have with Diego. Bastian’s smile erased. “What are you trying to say?”“Maybe that you’ll stay here for some years if you still want to have power when you come out of here.”Bastian denied with his head. The gaze he was giving her talked the words that couldn’t be pronounced by his mouth. The woman had shocked him with

So, it wasn’t a game? She wasn’t playing at all? It seemed like she was never going to trust him. What else did she need to understand how guilty Diego felt for what he did to her years ago? Now, the one who seemed to be playing with his feelings was her. One night she appeared in the hotel where he had asked her to be, Diego had confessed her his feelings and she allowed him to love every single part of her body and the next day, they were there like two strangers with nothing in common aside from the possibility of Diego getting out of there as long as he didn’t say anything against Camilla. Cameron had to be going crazy. There was no way Cameron could take her sister’s side after all the shit she had made her go through.Getting up from her seat, Cameron looked at him for the last time. “Good luck, Diego Ferrer. I really wish you well.” And walked off before the tears could run down and Diego noticed the truth behind those words. After all, they weren’t destined. Everything had sta
