Two weeks later, I finally recieved the details of my next mission. According to my Underboss, I was to hunt down Gavino, one of our main suppliers who sold us some fake weapons for a large sum of money and then went underground. Apparently, the Boss of Diff'rent Strokes was not happy about his betrayal and wanted him dead as possible.
The only problem is that everyone under my command knew that old man, Gavino and no one was happy to receive this order. He had been serving us loyally for years and had never cheated anyone before. This whole stuff smelled fishy to me so I decided to do some of my own private investigation. If he was innocent, I could take him back to the Underboss and prove his case but if he really was guilty, then I would have no choice but to end him myself.
During twilight, my men and I go to his workplace first where his men unsuspectingly continue their jobs, not knowing what that their boss just offended a very dangerous mafia and had just run away. They would have all been dead if the Underboss had sent a different Capo but luckily for them, I wasn't someone who was keen on taking lives for no reason.
Frederico spots Gavino's second-in-command and brings him to me. He seems a little frightened and uncertain on how to deal with the situation since this must be his first time dealing with someone like me. "Welcome, Capo. How may I help you?"
"I want to know where your boss is, Ryan." I notice his hands tremble slightly at my words which only confirm my faint suspicion. Someone like him may not know where Gavino may have run off to but he would surely have lot of things to tell me about this little problem. "Why don't you take a seat?"
Ryan obediently takes a seat opposite me in his former boss's office and looks at me with fear. I lean into the desk and threaten him. "Tell me everything Gavino has been up to this past few weeks. If you lie or keep quiet about anything, you and everyone here will die before I leave this place. Now talk."
I step out of the warehouse a few minutes after my little talk with Ryan and Frederico who follows my footsteps suddenly stops and asks me. "Capo, do you really think Gavino was that kind of person? I mean... how could he be selling us out to the War Lords?"
I clench my fists and close my eyes in response to his words. Gavino had gifted me my very first gun from his private collection and I knew his family very well. The fact that he betrayed us because of money and greed proved to me once again that no one was trustworthy.
Just as I am about to respond to Frederico's words, one of our men approach us so we halt our small talk. The man bows a little and tells me. "Capo, we just discovered Gavino's location. According to our sources, he seems to be crossing Californian borders."
My second-in-command and I share a look.
We finally arrive at the border where I spot the old man holding some files and talking to some men from War Lord. I step out of the car and call out to the man, trying to perform my last act of kindness to save his life. "Gavino, stop!"
Gavino hears my voice but he seems more frightened than happy to see me as he retreats further towards the border. Frederico looks around and pulls my sleeve to get my attention. "Capo, Merciless is here."
I whip my head around immediately I hear his words and there is Dante standing behind a car watching the scene. It is now clear to me that the Californian War Lords are up to no good with the series of operations they have been carrying in our territory so my hand tightens around my belt. I talk to Gavino. "Don't do anything stupid, Gavino. If you give them those files, you will never be able to leave this place alive."
"T-They have promised my freedom." The old man holds the files to his chest like it's some sort of treasure as his eyes dart both sides. "They have offered me a new life."
"No." I shake my head. "The only thing you will get out of this is a gunshot to your head and a manhunt on your family. Is that what you really want?"
My words seem to get to him this time because he seems more hesitant than before and I spot Dante frowning as he begins to approach us. I quickly turn to Gavino and stretch out my hand to him before this turns into a bloodbath. "Here, take my hand. Let's go and talk to Vincenzo Corsi, I am sure he would spare your life as long as you give him a reason to."
We stare at each other in silence for a while but then he starts to walk over to me. Dante calls out to him but he doesn't pay him any attention as he comes to me in a steady pace.
All of a sudden, I hear a gunshot out of nowhere and Gavino falls before my very eyes. The people around me immediately raise their guns for protection but my eyes stay on Gavino's dead body, his chest bloodied with a gunshot. I finally turn around to see Davide, the last person I expect to see walking over to me with a satisfied grin on his face. He raises an mocking eyebrow and says. "Marcella, I thought the Underboss told you to get rid of the traitor. Good thing, my father sent me to follow you."
He walks over to the dead man's body and spits on the floor with disgust on his face. "Stupid old man. That's what people like him deserve."
I grip the gun in my hand tightly.
When we returned back to Diff’rent Strokes territory, it took the convicting of my second-in-command and everything in me not to put a bullet in Davide's head. He was my cousin but I was higher than him in rank so it was very disrespectful for him to call such a shot in the presence of my men. He had always wanted to outdo me since we were little but it seemed like his plan didn't work out so he thought that he could use my uncle's authority to suppress me. That's why I was hoping that our Underboss, Vincenzo Corsi was finally going to grant my wish of ending this bastard's life this time because it seemed like he was totally pissed by the sudden change of plans. We were both summoned to his office where we stood in the tense atmosphere that seemed to chill under Vincenzo's dark gaze. He stared at Davide. "Who did you say sent you to kill Gavino?"Davide couldn't even lift his eyes as he looked down on the floor with his tail between his legs. "I-It was m-my father. H-He said t-that
Seeing my son playing with his father so happily was the most excruciating pain I had ever felt for a long time. The sight of his tender eyes on our son was all I had ever imagined since I got the news that I was pregnant but now, it only serves to remind me of his betrayal. He wasn't there when Pedro was born neither was he present when he took his first walk or spoke his first words. He left us. He chose his people over us and that thought alone sobers me up enough to wake up from this happy illusion that we are now one complete family. I grab the other hand of our son as we walk out of the amusement park in California he took us to. I spot the men that he had hired as an extra security measure to protect us even though we are in his territory. I still don't understand why he is here, trying to return to us. He clearly has an ulterior motive but still a part of me wants to believe in the illusion that he missed us, that he might be regretting his decision. "Momma, I want to eat
I drove back to Gavino's place where almost all his stuff was gone thanks to Diff’rent Strokes' sacred policy but still I scoured the place looking for any clues to my friend's whereabouts. I already had some suspicions in my heart but I wasn't the type to take useless risks so all I needed at the moment was some kind of confirmation. I enter his office and look around but there is nothing substantial to be seen after searching for a long time. I turn around to leave when my eyes rest at the mahogany table and my memories return to me. It was back when I had just returned to Nevada and my father was already planning to remarry me as soon as possible in order not to lower my price value in the marriage market but he was still unaware of my pregnancy. I remember coming to this place because it was the least expected place and I hid under the table when my father finally came. My eyes tears up at the past but the present where Gavino is no longer around so I continue to walk away when a
He looks down to me lying on the floor before his eyes starts wandering around the place and spots Rossella who runs away into the back room, his eyes widening in shock. "So....it's really true? She is really alive?"I grunt in pain as I hold my stomach in pain as I struggle to stand on my feet. The last person I expected to be following me was my own cousin but I know the repercussions this could bring if he opens his mouth. "Davide, let me explain...""You traitor bitch, what exactly do you want to tell me?" Davide raises his gun and hits me on the forehead mercilessly, causing me to stumble back on the floor as I groan in pain. I slowly feel a warm wet liquid trickle down my forehead as he comes over and looms over me. "That you helped your friend escape and killed our uncle? You helped our enemies shame us!""That's not what happened.." My whole body racks with pain from each hit he gives me but I hold onto his body, telling myself not to allow him leave this place. My whole life,
My uncle's smile falters on his face after everyone hears my words but I don't give a damn. He is the one who tried to sell me like I am some sort of goods on a market but he made the wrong move. Any other woman might allow this insult go........but not me, Marcella Andreotti. I meet his glare eye to eye as the room is still drowned in silence until someone approaches us with a friendly smile. He stretches out his hand and says to me. "It's nice to meet you, Miss Marcella. You are as beautiful as they said.""Hey, were you f*cking deaf when I said I was married? Who is the Miss here?" I bristle at his comment and ignore his hand sticking out to my direction. Although it seems like I am acting a little bit rash in the eyes of the women present, I have my reasons. There was no way I was going to marry this man. Of all the Capos in Diff’rent Strokes, Aurelio Zanetti was the most ruthless and most merciless one. He was also the Underboss's favourite and he only worked on special missi
My men continued to search for the missing girls for days but there was no progress in the investigation. I had already ordered Frederico to talk with the immigration officers nearest to us to ensure that they didn't try to flee the country so that only meant we need to find them as soon as possible before they snuck off through some illegal means. Meanwhile, Aurelio continued to keep an eye over my operations and businesses as he searched for clues to help him discover where those girls had gone. I didn't intend to make things easy for him at all so I made sure that none of my people cooperated with him and his tactics. Although he tried not to show it, I could see the frustration in his eyes and it delighted me.When I entered the office to begin my work for the day, a man suddenly barged into my office rudely and threw some papers on my table. He growled at me. "My Capo wants information about the girls' families. I don't understand why you are making things fucking hard for every
My soldiers and I were no longer disturbed by Aurelio's unit after the incident. We both managed to keep the little fight we had from leaking out of our territories because we didn't want the Underboss to find out about it. We kept looking for the girls in places that we would find them but those ones were smart enough not to leave any traces behind. When I had just come out from one of my warehouses in the evening, I saw a familiar figure waiting in front his car at the parking lot. Frederico who had also seen the guy immediately brought out his gun but I stopped him with my hand and said. "Let's not cause any bloodshed today, I will go and talk to him. You can go ahead without me. "Frederico was a bit hesitant to leave but at the end, he nodded his head as he withdrew his gun and tucked it back to his pocket. "Yes, Capo. I will go now."I watched him walk away before I approached the car that was waiting for me and said. "I thought I told you not to follow me, Aurelio. What are yo
"You promised me that you would listen to my orders." My gaze hardens on him as he continues to point his gun on a young woman who is currently curling in a corner with fright. The last thing I need is for him to go back on his words that's why I was being so nice to him these last few hours. Our eyes meet as I convey my resolve in my words as if they are a command. "Aurelio, I want them alive."Aurelio seems to waver a bit, lowering his gun and angle lower from the girl's head. I can see his confliction in his voice as he sighs a bit. "You know that there is nothing I can do about it. My orders were to kill on sight.""You had your men follow us?" I arch my eyebrow at him but he mistakes it for anger and retreats a little upon hearing my tone. I smile a little as I now realize that he was probably using me the same way I was using him. "You are really something else, Bloodthirst.""Anything less would make me unworthy of being a Capo of Diff’rent Strokes." He returns my smile with on
