Ben dares not answer, cautiously cradling the broken wine glass in his hands.

"A woman worth my fear and caution? It's ridiculous," Reginald chuckled, his tone growing colder.

He had restrained himself even when she wore matching outfits with other men, despite the numerous enemies and the public exposure that might make her vulnerable. He had plenty of bodyguards and subordinates—what was there to fear about protecting a woman? But what if, just that one time, he couldn't protect her?
