MORGAN'S POV
My brain caught up with my body a second too late, and I froze, my hands going still around her and my lips freezing against her neck.
No matter how much I wanted her, I couldn't do this, not when she was drunk and asleep...
Cursing softly, I with drew my hands from her body and rolled away, creating distance between us.
Lying on my back, I covered my eyes with my arm and took deep calming breaths.
No matter what she did in her current state, there was no excuse to act on my desire. I would be taking advantage of her, and that's not how we wanted things to happen between us.
Sighing, I turned to my side to watch her. My eyes were drawn to her face, and her beauty stole my breath. Everything about her seemed to be stealing my breath of lately, and I wondered how I had thought, even for a moment, that I could ignore her while we lived under the same roof.
If I had taken time to pay attention to her from the moment I first saw her, I would have realised sooner that I would end up losing in my own game.
She kept drawing me in, making me tear down the boundaries I had built to keep her out as I strived to please her, solve her problems, touch her..
Maybe I should have drawn those boundaries to keep myself in, rather than keeping her out.
I groaned in frustration and sat up, dropping my feet to the floor. Lying there watching her wasn't going to help clear my head.
Reaching for the blanket again, I pulled it over her body, and with one last longing look, i left her room.
Heading into the bathroom, I found that the bath water I had drawn for her had cooled down. It was exactly what I needed.
I started undressing and a minute later got into the bathtub, soaking myself in the cold water. I would deal with the aftermath of the night the next day.

EVE'S POV
When l woke up in the morning, I mean, the light spilling through a crack in my curtains announced that it was morning.
I stretched, wincing when my sore muscles protested. Not only that, I also became aware of my incredibly dry mouth and a dull headache.
"Gosh. I will never drink again", Imoaned, pushing the blanket away and dragging my feet to the floor.
Memories of the previous night flashed through my mind, reminding me of how I had drank most of the bottle of wine I had bought.
What had I been thinking? Or had it been too long since I had a hungover, that I forgot the suffering of the next morning?
Getting to my feet, I stood in front of the mirror, meaning to check my appearance. I had to go to work and couldn't afford to look like I had spent the night drinking.
I studied my face, my skin was dry, but nothing a few products wouldn't fix. My eyes were the main issue, they were puffy, and given the bright light coming through my curtain, I figured I didn't have enough time to do anything about them before leaving for work.
I sighed, pressing a hand to my throat. My eyes widened as they zeroed in on my throat.
Moving my hand, I leaned in close to the mirror, giving a closer look to my reflection. But the close scrutiny wasn't necessary, the red marks on my neck were prominent enough. And they were not just on my neck, they continued on to my collarbone, and my chest..
"Morgan!!!"
I didn't think twice before screaming his name, but there was no need to. There was only one possible culprit here, and it was him.
Now, seeing the marks, my memories moved from my wild drinking to afterwards. I couldn't remember everything, but I recalled that he carried me to a car.
Is that when he had taken the opportunity to leave a map of hickeys all over my neck and chest? Or was it when we had gotten back to the house?.
My door fell open and Morgan rushed in, worries written all over his face.
"Eve? What's wrong?".
I turned to him and glared at him, my finger pointing to my neck.
"What is this?",
"What?" he asked, walking further into the room.
When he got closer and got a clearer look of the marks on my body, the worried look on his face dropped.
"Oh"
"Oh?" I demanded, the simple word communicating how incensed I was.
"What did you do to me?”,
"It's nothing serious, I'm sure they'll disappear soon", he said, fighting a smile that suddenly wanted to attack his lips.
MORGAN'S POV
I hadn't been aware of leaving so many marks on her body. What a nice reminder..
My thoughts got cut off when she pushed me with her hand, her face enraged.
"How dare you take advantage of me?",
I stumbled back and blinked.
"Excuse me?"
She huffed and looked down at her chest, and then returned her heated glare to me.
"I never thought you were the kind to take advantage of a drunk woman, but I guess I was wrong",
My mind finally catching up to her drift, my brow rose. Maybe I should jog her mind a little.
“You were the one who clung to me and started touching me first”,
"Lies" she scoffed.
"When we got into the car, you took off your coat and draped yourself all over me, teasing me..”,
"That's a lie”,she stated firmly, interrupting me.
"Why would I do that? You're only saying that because I was drunk and cannot remember well”,
Sighing heavily, I turned and headed for the door.
"Where are you going?" she called after me, but I didn't look back.
EVE'S POV
Grumbling, I walked back to the mirror to access the damage.
He must have taken his time when he was making all of these marks. Only a pervert would take such liberty with a drunk person.
I huffed.
I would like to see him try while I was sober.
Morgan suddenly walked through the open doorway, a shirt crumpled in his hand. Shoving it in my face, he showed me the bright red lipstick marks that stained the white fabric.
"Still want to claim that you had no hand in what happened?", he said
I stared at the shirt in confusion.
"Or perhaps I should take off my shirt and show you the marks you left on my body", he said, reaching for the hem of his t-shirt.
"No!”, I said.
"Don't!"
Faced with his piece of evidence, my foggy memory suddenly cleared up. Heat from both embarrassment and shame rose up my neck as I recalled that I was the one who had initiated contact first in the car.
As everything flashed through my mind, mortification overwhelmed me and I covered my face in my hands.
MORGAN'S POV
Seeing her new expression, I smirked and dropped my defensive stance. It looked like everything was now clear in her mind now.
I didn't even feel mad at her accusations, infact I was too busy enjoying how cute she appeared as she tried to hide her embarrassed face from me.
I would have loved to stay and tease her further, but the morning was wearing on and we both needed to get to work.
"Tea is ready", I told her, staring towards the door.
"Come and have breakfast",
A few minutes later, she appeared at the dining table, and even as I handed her a cup of tea, she avoided meeting my eyes. I couldn't help but smile, wondering for how long she was going to be embarrassed.
She quickly had her tea and some snacks and then disappeared into the bathroom.
When she appeared a while later, she was all ready to leave for work. I noticed that she wore a dress with a high neck, effectively hiding the marks on her neck and chest.
Even after she left the house, I found that I couldn't help smiling. I was happy that I was no longer being accused of being a pervert, but I was happier that she could remember her own contribution to what had happened between us.
EVE'S POV That morning, my department had a meeting, but my mind was barely in the room as various teams presented their reports. I was busy trying to untangle the puzzle that the previous night had left in my mind. No matter how hard I tried to urge myself to not think about it, it didn't take long before my thoughts slides back to that territory. What must I have been thinking? I have asked myself this question about a hundred times since I left the house in the morning, but I still had no answer. So I settled on the only one reason that made sense, the alcohol. It was the alcohol that was to blame for my behaviour. Otherwise, I never would have dreamed of clinging to Morgan the way I had, let alone kiss him.Its true that he is a handsome man, and I thought him to be attractive, and maybe he was totally my type, but I was in no position to be lusting after him. Or acting on that lust. The alcohol had done away with not only my sense of propriety, but also my sanity, and that was
EVE'S POV As the week wore on, I realised that the man I should be worried about avoiding was not Morgan. Everything at home had gone back to normal, as if my drunken antics had never happened. It was a big relief, because I had no idea how I would have reacted had he brought it up again. At this point, I think the man I needed to avoid at all costs was unfortunately one who was around me all day long, my department director, Mr Gray. After he had called me to his office on Monday morning to offer his help, he had been more and more direct with his advances towards me. He showed me way too much attention in the disguise of work, but he never passed up a chance to make hints about what his true intentions were.I took every precaution I could to avoid running into him, but there was no so much hiding I could do when I worked under him.If only there was a way to put his advances to an end once and for all, I would not hesitate to do it.One day, while I was making use of the restroo
EVE'S POV "Let go of me!" Claire demanded, grabbing at a desk and digging her heels into the floor to keep me from dragging her any further. "What do you think you are doing?", she screamed."What are you afraid of?" I asked, not releasing my grip around her arm. "You said that you saw us with your own eyes. We are only going to confirm with the director”,"You are crazy. This is harassment, I can report you to the HR..”, Claire accused "I will accompany you to show them the video of you slandering me", I informed her. When we were almost at the director's office, the door burst open and Mr Gray appeared, a frown on his face.GRAY'S POV I looked around at the gathered workers, and then my eyes zeroed in on Eve and Claire. "What on earth is going on here?" I demanded.Seeing that I was here already, Eve let go of Claire and faced me"Claire is spreading rumours that you and I went to a hotel together last night”,My face paled at her words. Where on earth had such a rumour come
EVE'S POV After the incident with Claire, Mr Gray stopped making advances towards me. He no longer called me to his office frequently or offered to help me with my work. This convinced me that he had given up, and I was finally able to relax fully. But now, it caught me by surprise when he approached me one evening after work and asked me to join him to have dinner with a client. My heart.sank as I realised that he had not given up. Instead, he had been biding his time."I'm sorry, but I cant join you," I rejected his invitation politely, hoping he would let it go. I gathered my stuff into my bag, wanting to make an escape quickly. But Mr Gray stepped in my way. "You should come with me, Ms Luciano. I want to introduce some resources that can help you a lot here at work”,"Thank you for the consideration, but I really can not go with you. I have urgent matters to attend to, so I have to leave right away", I told him."Do you think I wasted my time coming here to ask you to come wi
GRAY'S POV I cursed and turned around, wondering who it was that had the nerve to barge in the room to interrupt me. In front of me was a tall dark-haired man giving me a cold glare. He wasn't familiar to me. And I was sure none of the men who were outside drinking with their dates would have interrupted me. He also didn't look like a security guard, I mean he was wearing a suit and a long coat like an office worker.Supporting myself on my hands, I got up and faced him, sneering. "Who the fuck are you?", I wasn't about to let anyone ruin this for me.EVE'S POV When Mr Gray suddenly released me and fell backwards, I shot up from the bed, thinking that perhaps one of the people in the room outside had finally come to help me. But when my eyes fell on Morgan instead, a happy cry left my Iips as I crawled over the bed and to him.He took me in his arms and held me close as I hid my face in his chest, sobs causing my entire body to shake. I could hardly believe he was here, but he t
EVE'S POV Morgan let go of my face and looked away. "I was in the company of a friend”, he replied to my question."Oh", I muttered, remembering how the men in the private room had all been there with women in their arms. What was Morgan doing there? Had he also been there with a lover? Did he flirt with the women there? These thought botherede, but I didn't let it show on my face."I'll go and take a shower", I told him, getting to my feet. He nodded and shifted to let me leave the sofa.In the bathroom, I stood under the shower for a long time, enjoying the feel of the cascading water over my skin. Even though Mr Gray hadn't succeeded in touching me the way he wanted, I still found myself scrubbing my skin thoroughly. Somehow, I felt as if washing thoroughly would not only wash away any trace of his touch on me, but also wash away the memory of what happened.By the time I was done, I felt a lot better. My body had also stopped trembling. It wasn't until I was stepping out of
EVE'S POV When Morgan’s finger tugged on the towel and it became a little loose, I snapped out of the trance he had distracted me into. My face flushed fresh, and as my mind rattled back into work-mode, I realised how precarious my situation was. I had let this go too far.Pushing Morgan's hand away, I ducked under his arm and reached for my door. This time, he didn't stop me as I twisted the handle and pushed the door open. I slammed it closed behind me, as if to further emphasise that I was not up for whatever he had in mind.Rushing to my mirror, I pressed my hands to my face and took deep breaths. I had no idea who I was more pissed at, him for teasing me in my state of undress, or myself for giving him any sign that I liked it.It seemed that I was getting too comfortable with him and forgetting that not only was he my pretend husband, but that I was also deceiving him about my identity. Nothing could happen between us, as long as I was living a lie.MORGAN'S POV Outside the
EVE'S POV On my way home from work that evening, I came across Morgan jogging in the community. He was dressed in a pair of running shorts that left his long muscular legs exposed, and a t-shirt that made it easy to imagine the muscular physique hidden beneath.Soon enough, my thoughts went to forbidden territory, and I stopped them and focused on the matter that had been on my mind all day. Morgan was the only person from last night who knew my identity and who took the incentive to stop Mr Gray. So there was a high probability that he was the one who had reported him to the police."How was work?" he asked when he got to me and fell into step with me on our way home."It was good”, I said, and then looked up at him."Some officers came in the morning and arrested the director. Are you the one who went to the police with the surveillance video from last night?","Oh, they did?”,I nodded approvingly. "Good. Yes, I'm the one who gave them the video”, "Thank you so much. You won't
