EVE'S POV
After the incident with Claire, Mr Gray stopped making advances towards me. He no longer called me to his office frequently or offered to help me with my work. This convinced me that he had given up, and I was finally able to relax fully.
But now, it caught me by surprise when he approached me one evening after work and asked me to join him to have dinner with a client.
My heart.sank as I realised that he had not given up. Instead, he had been biding his time.
"I'm sorry, but I cant join you," I rejected his invitation politely, hoping he would let it go.
I gathered my stuff into my bag, wanting to make an escape quickly. But Mr Gray stepped in my way.
"You should come with me, Ms Luciano. I want to introduce some resources that can help you a lot here at work”,
"Thank you for the consideration, but I really can not go with you. I have urgent matters to attend to, so I have to leave right away", I told him.
"Do you think I wasted my time coming here to ask you to come with me because I have nothing better to do?" he asked, his tone becoming stern.
His sudden change in demeanour surprised me, and I clutched my bag tightly.
"l am your senior, and if l ask you to come with me to meet a client, you should come. I have even told you that this meeting can benefit you in your work. What do you have to do that's more important than your job?",
I swallowed hard.
"I.."
"It's either you come with me or lose your job," he said resolutely.
"If you think you can do whatever you want, then I guess you have no place in this company”,
"I'll come with you", I told him, having no other choice.
It was just dinner. I wasn't going to risk my job because of this.
Mr Gray nodded curtly.
"Wait for me, we'll leave shortly”,
********************
When we got to the restaurant we were meeting the client at. Mr Gray led me to a private room.
The moment I stepped inside, however, I wondered whether we had gone into the wrong room. This didn't look like the kind of setting I was expecting for dinner with a client.
There were several men in the room, all sitting with skimpily-dressed women in their arms.
I stopped in my tracks and took a step back.
"What is this?", I asked.
Mr Gray wrapped his hand around my arm and pulled me forward.
"Come inside" he told me.
I tried to remove my arm from his grip forcefully, but his grip was too strong.
"This does not look like a client dinner",
No, in fact, I was sure it wasn't. This was just a private room full of men entertaining themselves with the women in their company. I was positive that the director had lied to me about a dinner with a client just to bring me here.
While we had been making our way to the restaurant, I had cheered herself up with the fact that we would be in the company of the client, so Mr Gray wouldn't try anything Inappropriate.
In such a setting, I would have found a way to get through the evening without engaging his ulterior motive. But now, in this setting, there was no telling what his plans were.
"Tonight we'll have fun, just you and me," he told me, leaning in close to my ear. His voice and his breath disgusting me and causing my stomach to turn.
Now that he had revealed his true intentions, I fought him without holding back.
"I don't want to be here," I said loudly,
"let me go back”,
"Do you want us to go somewhere more private?", he asked, walking further into the room and dragging me with him.
"I wanted to spend some quality time with you, anyway”, he added.
"Let go of me!", I screamed, digging my nails into his hand.
At that moment, the door opened and a waitress stepped in, carrying a tray of drinks.
As she placed them on the table, l addressed her.
"Please call the security, this man is harassing me!",
The waitress only gave me a cursory look before walking out of the room. I was completely shocked that she hadn't bothered to help me, and that's when it truly sunk in me that Mr Gray had brought me to a shady place to take advantage of me.
My panic grew as he continued dragging me towards another door and none of the other occupants of the room paid attention to my plight. They were all busy drinking alcohol and laughing as they cuddled their partners.
Tears welled in my eyes and spilled onto my cheeks as I realised that no one was coming to my aid.
"Where are you taking me?", I demanded.
"l already told you"' he said, finally getting to the door and wrenching it open.
"Somewhere we can be alone", he said.
When he had the door open, he jerked my arm roughly and pushed me forward, forcing me to stumble into the next room.
My fear tripled as I saw the bed in the room. Mr Gray closed the door behind him and leered at me, reaching up to loosen his tie.
"You have been avoiding me at work, haven't you? Acting like you are too good for me. Let's see about that now;" he said, taking slow steps towards her.
l shook my head, determined to fight ny way through. I wiped the tears beneath my eyes and shook my head.
"I have no idea what you are talking about",
He let out an evil laugh that made me skin
crawl.
"Don't pretend to be innocent, I made it quite obvious that I wanted you. That stupid bitch almost ruined everything with her loud mouth, but finally, here we are. I dont have to wait anymore”,
"I'll report you", I threatened, taking a step back to create more distance between us.
"If you do anything to me, I'll make sure to report you to HR…",
He cackled as he released his sleeve cuffs.
"Who will believe you? You are just the newbie who has been involved with rumours about her promiscuous nature from the moment you stepped foot into that company. I have been with the company for many years, and I can easily make everyone believe that you're making false accusations because I refused to sleep with you for favours at work",
Listening to his words, tears of frustration fell down my cheeks as I realised he was right. Nobody would believe my word over the word of a department director.
"You have already come with me this far" he told her.
"So let's get this out of the way. I promise you'll like it",
He took large fast steps towards me, giving me no time to get away. Gripping my arms, he threw me onto the bed. I fell on her back and crawled away from the edge, trying to get to my feet and make a dash for the door. But I got nowhere as he threw his body over mine and reached for my jacket.
I thrashed beneath him as I tried to topple him while also trying to keep him from removing my jacket.
A sob escaped my throat as I realised how much stronger he was than me.
Mr Gray put all his focus on getting rid of my jacket, make me wish I had worn a dress instead of a pantsuit. My jacket was a small obstacle in his path. No matter how much I tried to push him away or cried, he wasn't going to let me go until he got what he wanted.
When it proved too troublesome to get rid of my jacket, he gripped my blouse with both hands, intending to tear it open. But before he could, he received a heavy blow to his face that caused him to fall backwards onto the floor.
GRAY'S POV I cursed and turned around, wondering who it was that had the nerve to barge in the room to interrupt me. In front of me was a tall dark-haired man giving me a cold glare. He wasn't familiar to me. And I was sure none of the men who were outside drinking with their dates would have interrupted me. He also didn't look like a security guard, I mean he was wearing a suit and a long coat like an office worker.Supporting myself on my hands, I got up and faced him, sneering. "Who the fuck are you?", I wasn't about to let anyone ruin this for me.EVE'S POV When Mr Gray suddenly released me and fell backwards, I shot up from the bed, thinking that perhaps one of the people in the room outside had finally come to help me. But when my eyes fell on Morgan instead, a happy cry left my Iips as I crawled over the bed and to him.He took me in his arms and held me close as I hid my face in his chest, sobs causing my entire body to shake. I could hardly believe he was here, but he t
EVE'S POV Morgan let go of my face and looked away. "I was in the company of a friend”, he replied to my question."Oh", I muttered, remembering how the men in the private room had all been there with women in their arms. What was Morgan doing there? Had he also been there with a lover? Did he flirt with the women there? These thought botherede, but I didn't let it show on my face."I'll go and take a shower", I told him, getting to my feet. He nodded and shifted to let me leave the sofa.In the bathroom, I stood under the shower for a long time, enjoying the feel of the cascading water over my skin. Even though Mr Gray hadn't succeeded in touching me the way he wanted, I still found myself scrubbing my skin thoroughly. Somehow, I felt as if washing thoroughly would not only wash away any trace of his touch on me, but also wash away the memory of what happened.By the time I was done, I felt a lot better. My body had also stopped trembling. It wasn't until I was stepping out of
EVE'S POV When Morgan’s finger tugged on the towel and it became a little loose, I snapped out of the trance he had distracted me into. My face flushed fresh, and as my mind rattled back into work-mode, I realised how precarious my situation was. I had let this go too far.Pushing Morgan's hand away, I ducked under his arm and reached for my door. This time, he didn't stop me as I twisted the handle and pushed the door open. I slammed it closed behind me, as if to further emphasise that I was not up for whatever he had in mind.Rushing to my mirror, I pressed my hands to my face and took deep breaths. I had no idea who I was more pissed at, him for teasing me in my state of undress, or myself for giving him any sign that I liked it.It seemed that I was getting too comfortable with him and forgetting that not only was he my pretend husband, but that I was also deceiving him about my identity. Nothing could happen between us, as long as I was living a lie.MORGAN'S POV Outside the
EVE'S POV On my way home from work that evening, I came across Morgan jogging in the community. He was dressed in a pair of running shorts that left his long muscular legs exposed, and a t-shirt that made it easy to imagine the muscular physique hidden beneath.Soon enough, my thoughts went to forbidden territory, and I stopped them and focused on the matter that had been on my mind all day. Morgan was the only person from last night who knew my identity and who took the incentive to stop Mr Gray. So there was a high probability that he was the one who had reported him to the police."How was work?" he asked when he got to me and fell into step with me on our way home."It was good”, I said, and then looked up at him."Some officers came in the morning and arrested the director. Are you the one who went to the police with the surveillance video from last night?","Oh, they did?”,I nodded approvingly. "Good. Yes, I'm the one who gave them the video”, "Thank you so much. You won't
MORGAN’S POV The moment Eve pressed her lips to mine, the little restraint that was keeping me from doing something that could have her running into her room snapped.Even if I was determined to not do such a thing, the frenzied passion that surged through my body the moment she kissed me made sure that my efforts were futile.Wrapping my arms around her body,I picked her up and walked to the sofa, our lips still pressed together. The fact that she didn't pull away or push me away through all that, assured me that she wanted this as much as I did.I only separated us as I lay her down on the sofa and hovered above her. Her eyes fluttered open to look at me, and then she nibbled on her bottom lip shyly. Had she known what accepting my request for a kiss could lead to? Or had she thought it was an innocent request?."You're too naive," I whispered as I brought my lips down to hers. This time, I kissed her urgently, my firm lips prying her soft ones apart. She submitted to my kisses,
EVE'S POV Muffled sounds, filtered through the door of the room on the first floor, a mixture of groans, moans, and grunts. Inside the room, a man drove his hips between the legs of his lover, chasing an orgasm."Keep it quiet" Jake groaned as his lover's moans took a new high tone, as he drove deeper into her. "Someone can probably hear you in the hallway!"The woman looked up at him. "Who cares? Maybe I should scream so Eve can hear us. It looks like you need a little help in breaking up with her."Jake squeezed his eyes tight and focused on the pleasure building in his abdomen. I clearly was the last thing he wanted to talk about while making out with my sister."Why are you still with her, anyway? You have me. why do you still keep that worthless woman around?"Jake pulled his strength out of Cindy, and when his tip was on the very edge, thrust came back into her. A loud gasp left her mouth as he picked up the pace of his thrusts. She threw her head back as he took her hard.
EVE'S POV I twisted my fingers on my lap, and casted another look past the seated guests at the entrance of the gardens, where my wedding was taking place. My brow furrowed slightly when there was no sign of Morgan Caruso or any of his family members. The ceremony had been supposed to start two hours ago. All the guests from my side of the family were already here, but not one from the groom's side. Now, I was reduced to nerves as I sat and waited. Was he going to make it? I had never met him, but I had heard that he was an idler. What if he decided to not show up? Firstly I was been forced into marrying a stranger only to have him ditch me at the altar… All this not long after what happened with Jake and my sister. The two were seated on the front row, and I was doing my best to ignore them. Cindy had been stuck to Jake's side since they arrived, and a few comments had been thrown around about what a beautiful couple they were. But I tried not to let it get to me. While it stil
MORGAN’S POV I noticed the moment she noticed my brooch and frowned. I looked down at the pricey jewellery and smiled."Do you like it?" I leaned in, getting closer to her ear. Lowering my voice, I whispered, "It's actually fake, borrowed it from a friend"She nodded and pulled back, her face flushing."Yeah, uh, it looks real;"' she said, pulling her hand from my arm and stepping away.I was happy my little lie had worked. Otherwise, how would i explain wearing a brooch worth two million when I was trying to pass off as poor?I was also confused as my bride withdrew from me, as if suddenly shy of our closeness.Mh. Was she putting up a show? According to my source, the eldest daughter of the Luciano's family was anything but demure. I had expected to meet a bold seductress. But my bride seemed to be doing her best to avoid my gaze, and now, she was putting physical distance between us.Before I could think of a way to draw her from her shell, the woman who had attempted to waylay
