Chapter 4: A date for her

Padgett POV. 

"Cam! You should not try to force me, I don't want to..."

"Please! Remember you always say, I will do anything, just for you to be happy." 

"How does me dating someone make you happy?" 

"Of course, it will, every girl your age in school, has experienced it but I never said have sex with them, I will have your head on a plate if you try it." For the first time, in his words, I could find humor in it as we talked.

“Alright I’ll try if you stop being a player," I said knowing he could never, agree to that, judging from what I heard about him, I could tell, that girls were part of his everyday life, so this could turn out to be my lucky day and then we could forget all about the conversation. 

“Deal," He said making me jump out of my seat shocked, I stared at him all confused, I couldn't possibly believe what I was hearing. "What did you just say?" 

"I said deal, which means you go on a date with Sutton and I promise the next relationship I’ll try to make it last I’ll do anything for you, you should know that by now." He said grinning, then I looked at him. 

"Don't you have any relationship for now?" I asked, he ran his hand on his neck, then frowned a bit. 

"Come on, I wasn't... Fine, I was...But she is not my type, I am going to break up with her next week, so after now, I promise I will pick someone I could stay with..." I look at him, as he tries to place all his words together to make sense, I can see he is trying to make me understand, it seems he doesn't want me to judge him. 

"So creamy we have a deal right you’ll try and fall in love."

"Um! That girl behind you seems smitten over you she can’t keep her eyes off you." I said stuttering trying to change the topic, he pressed his lips together, he wanted to turn but still kept his eyes on me waiting for an answer. True to my words the girl behind me was staring intently at us, not me, it's just the man crush of hers, Cameron. 

In less than twenty-four hours, I could not stop hating every girl that had her eyes on him. I doubt if I could ever get used to the fact that, girls will always ogle at him. 

Then again my thoughts wander to his lips, imagining if he had ever kissed any girl before.

"Creamy! Back to Earth, can you stop wondering, I really can't get your pace." I gave him a faint smile as he dragged my nose, now that girl over there is going to kill me, she is sending me killer glares as he keeps playing with me. 

"I am not wondering, I am only feeling sorry for the girl over there." I lie through my teeth, the thing is, I was thinking about myself. 

“Oh really is she pretty, hot, sexy? You Know I like them with perfect curves…" He asks grinning

I looked back as my heart tore into tiny pieces she was not just pretty she was gorgeous perfect curves beautiful smiles, she fit into that perfect description of the type of girl, my beloved best friend likes.

"Congrats to you, Miss No Name, my crush just found his new catch for the week…" I thought sarcastically, with a clenched fist and bitterness running right in my veins. When his eyes didn't leave me, I parted my lips.

"Yeah, she’s really pretty," I said trying to keep myself from breaking down once again

"Really?" I gave him a weak nod, then he touched my head. "You should stay right here, I will be back before you know it, hope you won't mind?" He asked with pleading eyes. 

"Nope, just catch your fun," I said trying to sound normal. I watched him dash towards the girl, I have no idea, what made me, bring her to his notice, inside of me boiled, I just didn't feel comfortable with it anymore, I closed my eyes and tried not to act too possessive, I just arrived here, making enemies isn't part of my thing, I can't create enemies for myself because of a boy, whose father have everything, while my mom have nothing. 

It didn't take much time before the girl left, just when he was about to come back to me, I saw the girl, he was with earlier, it was no other person but Cassie, amid two other girls, they too happened to be in same class with us. 

Right before my eyes, she sat down on his thigh, and one of her hands came behind his head and drew him closer to kiss him deeply

As their lips met, a rush of jealousy swam through my veins, I felt like I was stabbed, with a sharp knife that pierced right into my heart. 

I don't know, if it's hatred, jealousy, or possessiveness, all I wanted right now, was for them to stop it, I felt cheated on. 

Do I have the right, to be jealous? He is just my best friend, I should be grateful that he still regards me, as one, even after I left him for three years. 

"Hey, you don't want to corrupt your eyes, do you?" I heard that voice, so I turned, I stared at him blankly. 

"Idiot! You should introduce yourself to her, I am Alex Jason, Cameron's best friend and he is Sutton Ramsey, the saint among the sinners." He said pointing to the first boy, who spoke to me, I ran my eyes on him, which meant he was the one, Cameron wanted for me, he was not bad, he was way handsome too 

"Nice to meet you, I am..."

"Padgett Ryan." The two echoed, causing me to give a weak smile. 

"Here!" Another voice comes from behind, he is holding an ice cream, taking me unaware, Ice cream in a bar. "Go on, I wouldn't dare to poison it, if I still love my life." I smiled, as I took the ice cream from him. "Ray Craig, that is my sweet name." He said then tried to place a kiss at the back of my hand. 

"You don't want to die, do you?' Cameron's voice startled him, he pulled away from me. 

"Hey man, who was that girl?" Alex asked

"Cassie!'

"Come on, you should know we are not asking about Cassie." He rolled his eyes on Ray. 

"Some girl, she is new here, I got her number, so probably my..." He paused and looked at me.

"Your last date." I completed it for him. 

"Last date!!!" The three screamed while he closed his ear. 

"Go on!" Sutton urge him

"Isn't that, what you always wanted, you should be grateful that you have one vote more on your side, so I will try to make it work." Sutton gave me, a nice smile, I don't get the reason, he kept smiling at me but the truth is, it was so uncomfortable, probably because of Cameron's words, I will have to date Sutton, to keep my promise, if he is keeping his. 

"I hope, you could with all these pretty things around with lovely ass to press."

"Hey, stop talking dirty, you don't want to corrupt my baby sister." Cameron pushed Alex's head as he scolded him. 

"Anyways, you all know she is in our class but she is my best friend, my childhood friend, more like a sister, we practically grew up together before she jilted me since she is back, you all we have to treat her like a queen, if anyone bullies her, you all know what to do, you should protect her." 

"Does it mean, we could take her out?" 

"No Ray, you can't take her out, I wouldn't want my baby to get raped, Sutton is the only person that could." 

"What if I want to date her?" Alex is the craziest one among them, they were talking like I was not there. 

"Not in this life." 

"Are you by chance, saying I don't suit her?"

"Of course, I don't give my precious stone to pig." Cameron grabbed my hand. "This is the only person, you could go out with, if I ever see you going out with these two, I will personally kill you." They all laughed as he pulled my hand and dragged me through the crowd, leaving his buddies behind

Finally, it was time to go home the party was nowhere near over they usually go on till late at night sometimes even up till dawn but thankfully my curfew was almost up which meant I had a solid excuse to get out of this party as soon as I could. 

"Let's go home already, mommy will get mad at me if I don't return home on time." We came here in his car and we had to leave with it, back then I went everywhere with Cameron and he was practically my driver taking me to school and back and then forcefully dragging me to lame places every Friday which has become a habit of ours, that was when I started falling for him. My mom was working for his parents, and we had a good relationship, so spending the night at his house was no big deal I’ve gotten used to it, even though, I was separate from him for three years, just today, I could feel, we will still be like we were before. 

“Okay creamy let’s go," Cameron said grinning! 

"Are you okay?" I asked

"Cathy Kyle," he said still grinning

"Is that her name? I asked chuckling nervously. "Who was that girl?"

“Oh Rhonda, she is Cassie's friend, she is also in our class." I pinned my lips together. “I got her number you know we’ll be seeing a lot more of her in the future, she said she is planning on moving to our school and I think I like her. She is not so bad not bad at all come on let’s get you home I’ll drive." He said grabbing the keys and leaving me stunned
