HAZEL

I'm lying in bed, feeling weak and exhausted. The taste of dinner still lingers in my mouth, but suddenly, my stomach churns, and before I know it, I'm vomiting it all out. It's been happening more frequently lately, and I can't help but feel frustrated and helpless.

Arnold rushes into the room, concern etched on his face.

“Hazel, are you okay? What happened?”

I shake my head weakly, unable to find the words to explain. The nausea and dizziness wash over me in waves, leaving me feeling dizzy and disoriented.

“Ethan, come quickly!” Arnold calls out, panic evident in his voice.

Ethan appears in the doorway, his eyes wide with alarm.

“What's wrong? Hazel, are you alright?”

I try to nod, but another wave of nausea hits me, and I'm left gasping for breath. Arnold helps me sit up, concern written all over his face.

“We need to get her some help.” Ethan says, his voice urgent. “Call for the healer immediately.”

Arnold nods and as soon as he is about to go out of the ro

ARNOLDThe tension in the room is palpable as Ethan paces back and forth, his brow furrowed with worry. Hazel's condition hasn't improved, and we're running out of options. With each passing moment, the weight of uncertainty grows heavier on our shoulders. “We need to do something.” Ethan mutters, his voice strained with desperation. “We can't just sit here and wait for her to get worse.” “I know, Ethan!” I reply, my own voice tinged with frustration. “But what else can we do? We've tried everything.” Just then, a thought crosses my mind. The witch. She might have answers that we haven't thought of yet. Without hesitation, I reach for the phone and dial her number, my heart pounding in anticipation. And we sent for her already regardless. “Hello?” Her voice crackles through the receiver. “It's King Arnold.” I say quickly, my words tumbling out in a rush. “We need your help. Hazel's condition is worsening, and we don't know what to do.” There's a brief pause on the other

ETHANHazel's form was not easy to contain, she was so big and massive, my brother and I got scared. The witch has been trying her best to make things work and help Hazel's current situation but it has been futile for a while. "I thought you said you were good at this?" Arnold snapped at the witch. "Why is it that you have not been of help since?" "With all due respect, your majesty, do not take that tone with me. You can see the improvement that I have made. I can't have you in this room, if you would distract us!" The woman yelled at my brother. "Please, he is just worried and he is letting his emotions take control of him. I promise to make him quiet and he will just watch with me from a corner.” As I stand at the front of the room with Arnold, the weight of the witch's confession hangs heavy in the air like a dense fog. We've all been on edge ever since Hazel fell ill, desperate for answers and solutions to the mysterious affliction that's taken hold of her. But now, as

HAZELThe witch has been visiting us more often than not lately, and the excitement in her eyes tells me that she’s not only here to help me, that’s just part of the job. She comes here like she currently lives for it and asks me questions about any issues that I might have or changes that I might have been noticing ever since, and I’ve exhausted all my answers. She keeps on asking more that I have half a mind to make up replies just for her since she is never satisfied by what I give her already. “Has your temperature been like this, or did it go high or low once, your majesty?” She would ask. “It has been like this, although I did feel cold for a few minutes earlier today.” I would reply, and she would widen her eyes. “Oh wow, did you check your temperature then, your majesty?” She would ask, and I would shake my head. “I didn’t see the need for it, I just felt a little bit cold.” I would say, and she would sharply suck in air through her teeth. “Your majesty, that i

HAZELAfter eating, the witch starts talking about what she knows about me. “At this point, your majesties, I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think that her majesty is ill. The probability still exists, because I don’t know how Dire wolves came to be, but I know that that is what she is.” The witch says, and the entire table is silent as they watch are. “Alright, so you said that you don’t know much about the Dire wolves, right?” Ethan asks. “Yes your majesty.” “But that means that you know some things, isn’t that true?” He asks again, and the witch nods. “Yes your majesty. I know that they are big wolves when they shift, and they can easily track down anyone simply using their sense of smell.” The witch says. “Legend has them to be evil and dangerous beings who show no mercy to their enemies.” She continues, and Arnold cuts in. “I think that should be all werewolves, depending on what the enemies have done.” Arnold says and Ethan chuckles, agreeing with his brother.

ARNOLDThis is more serious than I had initially thought it was. Hazel fell asleep in the middle of the conversation that we were having at the table, and Ethan took her in earlier. Currently, we are talking about preventive measures with the witch. The gravity of the situation weighs heavily on my mind as I sit across from the witch, exchanging worried glances with my brother. Hazel's condition is more serious than we had initially thought, and it is clear that we need to take immediate action to protect her and those around her. “So, what do we do now?” I ask, my voice tense with worry. “How do we keep Hazel safe?” The witch sighs, her expression grave. “Your majesty, I humbly suggest keeping her powers hidden from everyone else.” She replies. “If word gets out that she's a Dire wolf, it could put her in grave danger. People fear what they don't understand, and they may see her as a threat, although the possibility of her being fatally harmed by them if she doesn’t want to

HAZELI wake up to the soft rays of sunlight streaming through the curtains, a nice sense of warmth enveloping me. For a moment, I'm lost in that blissful state between sleep and wakefulness, where reality and dreams blur together in a haze of beauty and peace. I’m still savoring it when I remember.. As consciousness fully returns, I'm hit with a wave of confusion. The events of yesterday flood back into my mind, the weight of the witch's words settling heavily on my chest. I'm a Dire wolf, a creature of legend and myth, and there's no going back. I sit up slowly, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as I try to shake off the remnants of the dream that still cling to my mind. It had been a happy one, a rare moment of peace amidst the chaos that has become my life. In the dream, I had been running through the forest, my wolf form free and wild, even as big as it was, and the wind dancing through my fur as I raced through the trees. It was exhilarating, the sensation of speed and freedom c

HAZELEthan shakes his head, determination shining in his eyes. “We'll come up with a cover story.” He says. “It will just be something to explain your absence without revealing the truth. It won't be easy, but it's worth it if it means keeping you safe.” I'm touched by their thoughtfulness, their unwavering dedication to my well being. But as grateful as I am for their efforts, a sense of sadness washes over me like a dark cloud. “But what about me?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. “What about my wolf? Don't I get a say in any of this?” Arnold's expression softens with sympathy as he reaches out to place a comforting hand on my shoulder. “Of course you do, Hazel.” He says, his voice gentle. “We just want to make sure that you're safe, that's all.” I know they mean well, but the thought of being confined to a small area of the forest fills me with a sense of claustrophobia, even if I’m sure that the space would be big enough, I want everything. • Two Mates and A Descendant    Chapter 92

HAZEL The days pass by in a blur, each one blending into the next as I adjust to my new reality. Ever since I successfully shifted into my wolf form, life has taken on a whole new meaning. But with this newfound freedom comes a heavy burden, and that is the constant presence of guards. Not just that, there are more guards now. Why do I need seven guards following me around in sight? Are there anymore hiding? It's not easy having a small army of guards following me around at all times, their watchful eyes tracking my every move. At least six to seven guards are stationed with me at all times, making it feel like I'm living under constant surveillance. I understand the need for security, especially given the potential danger posed by my powers. But that doesn't make it any less frustrating. It's hard enough trying to navigate this new world of werewolves and magic without feeling like I'm constantly being watched. One afternoon, as I'm sitting in the courtyard of the castle, tryi

Their smiles shine throughout their nursery and their light shines through and lifts the spirits of our kingdom.Arnold and Ethan watch over them with vigilant eyes, and I can feel their relief as we witness our children return to their normal selves. We gather as a family in the evenings, sharing meals and stories, cherishing each moment like a precious gift. One evening, as we sit together, basking in the warmth of our living room, with Zena and Kamila nestled between us, I make a vow out of fierce determination and love."I promise," I begin. My voice is steady despite the emotion that threatens to overwhelm me. "That I will protect you both with everything I have. No harm will ever come to you again."Arnold looks at me with trust and agreement in his eyes. Ethan nods in a

HAZELThe decision weighs heavily on my heart as I stand before the cell where my former taskmaster is held, shackled, and guarded. His eyes widen in fear as I approach, and his voice trembles with desperation when he speaks."No, please!" he pleads, his voice cracking. "I didn't mean for this to happen!"I meet his gaze firmly with my hands clenched into fists at my sides. "You poisoned my children," I say through gritted teeth. Each word I say is laced with fury and pain. "You will help us save them. That’s the final part of the ritual required for them to heal completely."The taskmaster recoils, and his face is pale with terror. "I… I don't know how," he stammers."You know more than you're willing to admit," I retort. My voice is low and dangerous. "And if you don't cooperate, I will make you regret every moment you spent plotting against us."With a wave of my hand, the guards unlock the cell and drag him out into the harsh light of day. His protests fall on deaf ears as I lead

HAZELOutside our suite, the pack house buzzes with tension. Alphas from packs send healers and messages of support. Members of our kingdom stand vigil, their faces filled with worry and grief. Kamila’s fever breaks first, followed by Zenas’s, but their bodies remain weak.Relief floods through me and tears of gratitude blur my vision as I embrace them. "We made it," Arnold whispers hoarsely as his hand finds mine."We're not done yet," Ethan adds. "We still have work to do."The twins' recovery marks a turning point, but the scars of betrayal still run deep as questions linger in our minds. Who orchestrated the poisoning, and why? How could we have missed the signs? In the days that follow, we strengthen our security measures, monitor every meal, and go through our alliances. The maid remains locked in the dungeons, and right now,

HAZELThe days pass and I bask in the comfort of motherhood and preparation. Each moment is filled with the gentle cooing of Zena and Kamila and the careful planning for the upcoming coronation. I find solace in the quiet moments with our daughters, even as decisions about the coronation swirl around us.Ethan and Arnold are diligent in their duties, and they consult with advisors as they attend to the needs of the kingdom. Meanwhile, I’m consulted on matters that require my approval, from the design of my coronation dress to the arrangements for the ceremony itself. One afternoon, as I nurse Zena and Kamila, I review sketches and fabric samples spread out on the table before me. "This one," I say, pointing to a sketch of a dress adorned with intricate embroidery. "I think it’s perfect."Arnold leans over my shoulder as he studies the design with a thoughtful expression. "It’s beautiful," he agrees softly. "Just like you."Ethan nods in approval too, and I can see that his eyes are

He and Arnold spring into action, and their faces are filled with confusion as they rush to my side."What’s happening?" Arnold asks. There is panic in his tone. I struggle to speak, but the pain I’m feeling makes talking impossible. Another wave of pain crashes over me. It’s stronger this time, and I cry out again, unable to contain the agony that rushes through my body. And then, as I try to stand, there is a sudden rush of warmth between my legs. It’s the unmistakable sound of my water breaking. The realization hits us all at once in the midst of the chaos."The baby," Ethan whispers. His eyes are wide with disbelief. "The baby is coming."The room fills with movement as Ethan and Arnold spring into action. HAZELThe sun hangs low in the sky, and it casts a glow over the serene water of the lake on the outskirts of the pack. Ethan, Arnold, and I spread out a blanket under the shade of a towering oak tree, and the gentle breeze brings the scent of wildflowers and pine to us."This is perfect," Ethan says with a contented sigh, as he settles down beside me. "This is just what we needed. A break from everything."Arnold nods in agreement as his eyes look over the peaceful scenery. "It’s been too long since we’ve had a moment like this."I smile as I feel a sense of peace settle over me too. "I couldn’t agree more."We unpack the picnic basket. It’s a simple but rich spread of assorted sandwiches, fruits, a pitcher of lemonade, and a jug of cool water. Ethan pours us each a glass of lemonade. It’s moments like these, where we can simply be together, that remind me of everything we’ve fought for and everything we have to look forward to.As we eat, laughter fills the air, mingling with the di

HAZELPreparations for Ethan and Arnold’s coronation begin immediately. Despite the kingdom’s recent turmoil, there’s a sense of urgency and excitement in the air. The Great Hall, which still bears the scars of battle, is now buzzing with a different kind of energy. It’s filled with hope and renewal. The maids bustle around and they work diligently to transform the hall into a fitting venue for the coronation. It will be a modest ceremony because of our limited resources, but its significance cannot be overemphasized. This coronation represents a new beginning for our kingdom."Hazel, these are flowers that were requested for. What do you think?" one of the maids, Elara, calls out to me. I join her, and together, we arrange the wildflowers into simple yet elegant bouquets. Their vibrant colors bring a touch of life to the otherwise somber hall."They are beautiful," I say, breathing in the floral scent. "They remind me of the strength of our people."Elara smiles, and her eyes reflect
