I thought telling my parents was going to be bad enough.
Now I was sitting at brunch with the Wrenfords and the Windsors and I couldn’t even have any mimosas.
“So, I hear you guys have been having me followed,” I declared.
“It was just for your own good, Scarlett.” Belinda Wrenford assured me. “You know we worry about you. We wanted to make sure that you’re not relapsing.”
“Well I definitely won’t be doing that in the next eight months!”
No one laughed.
Whatever that was funny as hell.
“So when will we find out who the father of these children are?” Hal Windsor asked.
“In a few days, and then this whole mess will be over. I will be with the father of my children.” I said firmly.
“How have you been Scarlett?” Ninette Windsor questioned. “Are you keeping up with your prenatals and getting enough rest?”
“I’m really trying, just with whole situation and work-”
“Well you’re going to be quitting your job right?” Alistair Wrenford asked.
“Um not at all. How am I supposed to pay for things? Babies are expensive, you know?”
“Sweetie, not to be crass, but look at who your prospective fathers are. You will never have to pay for a thing again. Especially if that’s my grandchild.” Belinda laughed.
“Same goes for us,” Hal said quickly. “You will have a more than comfortable life.”
“That’s really sweet and everything, but I want to work. You both know that! Remember you wanted to give me jobs!” I exclaimed.
“Speaking of, if they are Grayson’s, obviously you must come work for us.” Alistair announced.
“We will also have a job for you,” Hal countered.
I couldn’t believe they were competing over me again. I might be carrying the future of their companies in my stomach and I was sure that was exciting for them. The only thing better than me was a literal child that they could teach how to take over a company that hopefully had my brains and their last names.
“I think we should hold off on the money and the job offers until we know exactly who these babies are, okay?” I asked. “We don’t need a repeat of me fainting and getting into car accidents.”
I glanced at the boys waiting for them to say something to their parents. They both were knocking back mimosas while I was being offered jobs.
“I think I just need some air,” I got up and walked to the garden. “I’m so sorry, peanuts. Your family is going to be insane no matter what. Your mom’s a drug addict, your grandfather is an alcoholic. Your other grandparents are going to be nutty rich people.”
I sat down, rubbing my stomach. “But you’re going to be so loved.”
“Mind if I sit with you Scarlett?” Belinda asked. I motioned for her to sit. “You know, Grayson always wanted a future with you. And he’s ready for kids now. He’s stable in his career, he’s already had his fun. He’s ready for marriage too.”
“I know, Belinda. And he’ll be a great father, I’m sure. But you have to realize I have no control over this. I don’t get to choose who the father is.”
“You could.”
“What?” I asked.
“I’m saying that no one else has to see those results, Scarlett. If the father isn’t who you want it to be, no one will know if you say the wrong name.”
“Um, I think it’ll be pretty obvious when the kids come out.” I pointed out.
“Maybe it won’t. You know in your heart that Grayson is the right choice for a father. He can take care of you and these children. I mean women have all kinds of different reactions after childbirth. What if you find yourself relapsing?”
“I wouldn’t do that,”
“But if you did, who would you trust to help you through that? Grayson or Lee?” She asked gently.
“I won’t lie about who the father is.”
“That’s your choice. I’m just hoping they’re Grayson’s so he can finally have the family he’s always hoped for and someone to pass the company on to.” She patted my back and got up.
I looked down at my stomach.
“See what I mean peanuts? Nutty rich people.”

I was happily working on my campaign at work when Rex Adams poked his head in the conference room.
“Scarlett, could I see you in my office?” He asked.
“Of course,” I followed him out.
I was shocked to see Hal Windsor waiting for me.
“Um, Hal….hi.”
“I’m sorry to disturb you during the workday, I just really needed to speak to you about an important matter.”
“I’ll leave you to it. It’s time for my coffee break anyways. Scarlett, do you want one of those juices?”
“Yes, sir, that would be lovely. Thank you.” I smiled. “What can I help you with Hal?”
“I just wanted to check on you. I worry about your current doctor and that hospital in general. You should have the best care.”
“Oh, I love Dr. Conner. He’s the best OB that our insurance has.”
“That’s what I’m saying, Scarlett, I can get you a better doctor and hospital. The best OB in the country, you’d never have to use the waiting room, the labs are spectacular.”
“But why?” I asked.
“I just don’t know if I trust this particular hospital. I would feel better if you were at the one I go to. You know, I know the doctors there. We could get your paternity results done and much quicker.”
“The paternity results are coming any day.”
“Well what if they’re wrong?” Hal asked. “I would rather have my people handle it.”
“So you can fix the results to say the babies are Lee’s?” I asked.
Hal looked rather impressed with me. “You really are brilliant, you know?”
“Yeah, I do. I’m not doing that.”
“Scarlett, just think…you love my son. You told me you wanted a future with him. You fought with me about how amazing he is.”
“He is amazing, but if these babies aren’t his…to lie about it wouldn’t be fair to anyone. Me, Grayson, Lee, my kids! I know I’ve made a mess for myself and I know it’s even a little unfair to choose whoever the father is, but it’s what’s best for my babies.”
“Brantley is best for your babies. And you know he would be with you even if they’re not his.”
“I know, but I don’t want to raise my kids in chaos. Remember how it was this year? The fighting, the competition, the media! I am not putting my kids through that. They deserve an easy life. Just a mom and a dad who love each other.” I stated.
“You and Lee love each other,” Hal declared.
“We do. So do Grayson and I. Hal I’m not gonna play games when it comes to my kids okay? So thank you for the offer, but I will stick with my OB and my hospital and the results that are already on their way. If the children are Lee’s, I will consider your doctors. But only after I've received the results.”
“Fine, that is fair.”
“Thank you now…please I have to get back to work.”
“Of course, Scarlett,”
Mr. Adams entered the room as Hal stood up. They shook hands and Hal left.
“The Wrenfords and the Windsors are insane,” He commented as he handed me my juice.
“Yeah, they are.” I sighed.
“You know if you don’t want to deal with them anymore, my son is available and he’s great with kids.”
**
It was now the moment of truth.
In my hand I had two envelopes. The results of the paternity test. I was about to find out who I was spending the rest of my life with. Who I was going to raise these babies with and marry and love forever.
I was both terrified and relieved. There would be no more questions after this. No back and forth, no juggling. It was the simple, easy answer I’d been looking for. I just hoped the guy who wasn’t the father would still support me and be in my life.
No matter what, I didn't want to lose either of them.
We sat in my living room anxiously. I gave the proper envelopes to Grayson and Lee. Both looked too afraid to open them.
“Um, before we do this and things change completely forever, I just want you both to know I love you so much, okay? Both of you, equally. Whoever the father is, I will be ecstatic. And whoever it’s not, I will still love you for the rest of my life and I hope that you’ll still be my friend.” I stated.
“Of course,” Lee nodded.
“Yeah, Scar, no matter what you’re not getting rid of us.” Grayson smiled.
“Okay, um…then let’s do it.”
With shaking hands, both boys opened their envelopes. I watched them read the papers. I couldn’t tell who was feeling what.
“Oh my god,” Grayson whispered.
“I can’t believe it,” Lee breathed.
“Someone please say something else.” I urged.
“I’m the father, Scarlett.” Grayson smiled.
“What?” Lee asked. “No, I’m the father.”
What the fuck?
“No, it says my probability of paternity is ninety-nine percent.” Grayson stated.
“Mine says the same thing!” Lee exclaimed.
“God, Lee your dad might have been right, they did fuck up the results. They probably just sent the wrong papers, let me call Dr. Conner, okay?”
I sighed as I pulled my phone out. Was anything ever going to be easy for me?
“This is Dr. Conner,”
“Hi, this is Scarlett Watson.”
“I was just about to call you…um, did you happen to see the paternity test results?”
“Yes, and they’re completely messed up!” I declared. “Both Grayson and Lee got ninety-nine percent probability!”
“Yes…and there’s a reason for that.” He assured me.
“And that is?”
“Scarlett, your twins have different fathers. The results are correct. Both Grayson and Lee are the father.”
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuuck!”Lee and Grayson looked at me like I was insane. “Yeah, I thought that you would be your reaction,” Dr. Conner stated. “No, this isn’t…it’s not possible!” I cried. “Actually it is…what are you doing right now? Can the three of you come to the hospital, I feel that we should discuss this in person.” “Yes, please, because this doesn’t make any sense at all to me!”“Okay, just breathe and come now.”I hung up.“So?” Lee asked. “We gotta go to the hospital.”I would let Dr. Conner share the news with them, because if I did it, I might puke.***“No! That’s impossible!” Grayson exclaimed. “There’s no way!” Lee shouted.“Gentlemen, please calm down and let me explain,” Dr. Conner said soothingly. They took a deep breath and nodded. “This is very possible and it has happened before. It’s called heteropaternal superfecundation.”“Try saying that five times fast!” I laughed hysterically.“Basically Scarlett released multiple eggs during ovulation and you each fertil
I was gonna puke. For the first time ever mine, Grayson, and Lee’s parents were all meeting. We were sitting down for dinner to let them know the shocking and inconvenient news. This would end in one of three ways: sobbing, fist fighting, or yelling. And it was possible all three things would occur and even more possible that worse things would happen. And couldn’t have a single drink throughout it.Peachy.At some point I had to go shopping. Clothes were becoming much too tight on me and I was starting to get just a little self conscious. “I’m hideous!” I cried. “Scar, come on, you look beautiful.” Lee insisted. “Why am I wearing a white dress, I look like the Michelin Man!” “You’re way prettier than that guy,” Grayson assured me. “This dress is perfect, babe.”“You’re only saying that because we’re running late,” I huffed. “I mean kinda. We don’t want to be late and deliver the most hectic news of our lives too.”“Fine, I’m ready to go.” I grabbed my purse and stomped out of t
“That’s my boy!” Alistair exclaimed. “That’s that Wrenford right hook!”“Grayson!” I gasped. “I’m sorry, but what the fuck is wrong with him?” Grayson shook his hand out. My dad stumbled up from the floor, his nose bleeding. “Scott, are you okay?” Sophia asked in alarm.Dad snatched the tissue from her hand and quickly wiped his nose before standing up and walking around the table over to Grayson. Oh no.He hit Grayson before tackling him to the ground.“Daddy enough!” I cried. Lee tried to break them up but he pretty much ended up getting involved. The other men finally intervened and it just became a mess of fists and cursing. Every single man involved in this scuffle was going to be in my children’s lives. The most important men in their lives at that. I had to pick a really good godfather for each so they could have some kind of stability. Finally everything simmered down and Grayson and my dad were separated. “You’re never coming anywhere near my child!” Grayson screamed.
“Do you think the house will be easy to baby proof?” Grayson asked.“Can we get carpet on the stairs to make them less slippery?” Lee questioned.“Oh, maybe we can get like an elevator in here?”“Guys, please!” I groaned. “Can you at least introduce yourself first!”“Right,” Grayson laughed. “I’m Grayson Wrenford.”“And I’m Lee Windsor.” He shook her hand.“And I’m Scarlett Watson.”“I’m Mei, so nice to meet you all.”Mei was a very pretty Asain woman with perfectly done black hair. She had stylish glasses over her bright brown eyes and she had a warm smile. I could see how she sold houses so easily. I would buy anything from her.“So we’re thinking about baby proofing at some point. Which two of you are expecting?” Mei questioned. “Oh all of us,” I smiled. “There’s two passengers on board and one belongs to each of them.”That was just the easiest way to explain it. Mei’s eyes widened, before she shook it off. “Wow, that’s um…very new age!”“That’s a fun way of putting it,” I laugh
“You went with house three?!” Lee demanded. “And you didn’t even tell us?!”“Did you even consider the houses that we picked out?” Grayson accused. “Yes I did actually, much more than I should have. I’m the only one who is guaranteed to be living in this house so why the hell would I get anyone else’s opinion on it?” I asked. “One of us is going to live there though!”“Sure, if you’re lucky.”“You went behind our backs and had our parents buy the house!” Lee exclaimed. “You two sure are quick to forget that I told them to buy me a house. Not you two! I’m letting you live in my house.” I reminded them. “I liked house number three and that’s where I’ll live. You two don’t like it? Live somewhere else!”The both looked disgruntled, but there was nothing they could do.I held the babies, so I held the power. --“I’ve never heard a worse idea,” Skyler admitted when I told her about the three of us living together. “I know, but what else can I do? I can’t be carted back and forth on a
“Well this is a PR nightmare!” Belinda cried out.“It's not that bad, mom.” Grayson assured her. “I mean people were going to find out soon enough right?”“Yes, but I wanted us to be able to control that narrative, Grayson. It's not easy to announce that Scarlett is pregnant by two men simultaneously.”It really does make me sound like a slut.“It was that EJ guy Scar, I just know it!” Skyler exclaimed.“No way, he's in the pictures too!”“Who is EJ?” Hal asked.“He's the scholarship kid at Wrenford.” I answered.“EJ?” Alistsair asked.“See they don't even know him!” Skyler stated.“Do you mean Elliot Choi?” Belinda questioned.“Yes, Choi is his last name. He must go by EJ. See?” I raised my eyebrows.“Alright he's cleared for now.”“So what do we do?” Lee asked.“A press conference.” Alistair sighed. “We should tell the public before they find out on their own.”“We’re moving in next week, someone would have noticed we all go to the same house,” I pointed out. “While I’m not thrilled
I walked back into the house.“Scarlett, what is he doing here?” Grayson asked getting up protectively. “I’m not here to fight,” Dad said quietly. “I’m here to apologize. I’m sorry to the both of you for how I’ve treated you.”“Scarlett, can we talk in the kitchen real quick?” Lee asked. “Just one second Dad.” I whispered before following the boys in the kitchen. “What’s up?”“Scar, he can't stay here.” Grayson said quietly. “He’s dangerous.”“He’s not staying, he just wants to talk. Gray…he wants to get better. He said so. I can help him.”“That’s not your job,” Lee stated. “I know but…all my life he’s been sick. I can help change that now. No one can get help on their own.” I declared. “I have to at least try right?”They exchanged looks, but I think they realized I was going to do this no matter what they said. They nodded. “The first sign of him being violent and that’s it.” Grayson said fimly. “The babies have to come first.”“Okay, I promise.” I gave them both kisses on the
I kind of adored EJ’s simple Honda CRV.It was dark green and had funny stickers on the back of it. It was a nice break from the Teslas and Benzs and BMWs I had been driving around in since I got caught up with two rich boys. “So what were you doing there?” EJ asked. “It looked a little sketchy there.”“I was with my Dad. He was attending an AA meeting.”“Oh, sorry. Didn’t mean to sound so judgmental.”“It’s fine. The building is a little sketchy, but it’s nice inside. Thanks for coming to get me.” I smiled. “I thought you would have something better to do on a Saturday evening.”“Oh not me,” EJ chuckled. “I don’t have many friends. I didn’t realize people wouldn’t really like the scholarship kid.”“Give it a few months, you’ll find some great people the way I did.” I assured him as I shifted uncomfortably. “Is everything okay? I’m sorry my car kinda sucks. I’m sure it’s not as good as the fancy cars you’re used to.”“It’s okay, I’m just cramping cuz of the babies. It’s not your car
“Lee, I will never forgive you!” “Don’t be like this Scarlett.” “You are completely out of line!” “He’s my son!” Lee exclaimed. “He’s mine too!” I shot back. “You had no right to do this!” “Oh get over it!” “Hey, what’s going on?” Grayson asked, entering the room. “Look what he did to my son!” I whined. Grayson looked into the playpen and saw that Julian had a mohawk. Grayson laughed. “Woah buddy, you look great!” I gasped. “No, he looks crazy!” “I told you, Scar, he looks good.” Lee said smugly. “He really wanted it too.” “He’s three years old, he doesn’t know what he wants!” “You told me to get him a haircut. You said it was a father and son thing and I did it!” “I didn't know you were going to bring me back a punk rock child!” I groaned. “What happened to my prince?” “Mommy!” Julian smiled. “Look my hair!” “See, he loves it, Scarlett. It’s gonna grow back anyways.” Lee said. I sighed as I picked Julian up. “I guess you’re so handsome, you can pull it off.” “Do
I held onto my decision for two weeks. I know that sounds horrible, but I had to make sure that I was certain in my decision. I didn’t have sex with the guys, becuase that felt horrible knowing I was going to break up with one of them. I had also done something kind of big without telling the guys. I just thought it was the best decision. No one knew I had made a real decision. I didn’t want to jinx it like last time. I just kept going about my life, making sure that who I chose was who I really wanted. Every single night I went to sleep, my choice was confirmed. I knew who I wanted and it was time to tell everyone else too.The babies were asleep and we were having lunch. “Can I talk to you guys about something?” I asked. “Of course,” Grayson put his phone down. “What’s up?” Lee questioned. “So…I did something. Um…I had the house across the street bought.” I announced. “What? Why?” “How?” Grayson asked. “Both of your parents, actually.”“So…why did you do that babe?” “So,
“Are you ready to meet your new best friend?” Lee asked Julian as he got him dressed. “You’re gonna meet Auntie Skyler and Uncle Avery’s new baby. Are you excited?”Julian merely laughed in response and kicked his legs. “I’m so excited to meet this little guy!” I sighed. “I still don’t even know his name.”“Well, Skyler didn’t get to do a baby shower or gender reveal, so this is like a big reveal for her.”“I can’t believe she’s a mom now! I’m so excited for her!” I looked at the clock. “Shit we’re late!”“Scarlett, language!” Lee scolded. “We are in the presence of innocent ears.”“Julian cannot understand me when I say ‘shit’.”“You don’t know that. Children understand lots of things.”“You’re right. Sorry Julian. Darn it all to heck, we are late.” I kissed them both. “Gray? Are you and Joy ready?”“Almost,” Grayson called back. “And now we are!”I went to his room and saw him showing Joy herself in the mirror. She looked quite perplexed with her reflection. “Where did she get tha
“What’s going on now?” Lee asked. “Sophia is also in labor right now. My siblings have started their rivalry very early!”“Oh this is going to be insane.” “I know right? Why don’t you just drop me off and then take Julian home?”“Are you sure?”“Yeah, I’ll be fine. Robbie and my dad will be there. Julian has had an eventful enough day, I think.”“Wait, they're having their babies at the same hospital too?” Lee questioned. “Do they want that hospital to still be standing after they’re done?”“Hopefully they’ll be so busy pushing children out they won’t have a chance to yell at each other. You and Grayson can handle the kids right?”“Of course we can. It’ll be fine.” Lee assured me. “Don’t worry about anything except for your new siblings, okay?”“Alright. Just don’t burn down the house.” I chuckled. We arrived at the hospital and I turned around to look at Julian. “You be a good boy for Daddy, okay? Mommy loves you.”“He loves you too,” Lee smiled. “And so do I.” He kissed me. “I l
Lee or Grayson?Grayson or Lee?Windsor or Wrenford?Super hot billionaire who was the father of my baby or…super hot billionaire who was the father of my baby. No wonder this was so goddamn hard. I was comparing perfection with perfection.Only they weren't perfect right? They had flaws. Everyone did. But I loved their flaws too. I loved their differences and the way they were the same and how much they loved me. I could see two timelines unfolding every time I looked at them. But that was nothing new. None of this was. This was the same old song and dance I’d been doing for over a year.Wasn’t I tired yet?“You sound like a broken record,” Skyler shook her head. “I cannot believe after all this time you haven't chosen.”“That’s easy for you to say. You met your soulmate at a party and there was only one of him. I fell in love with two amazing men who impregnated me at the same time!”“So if only one of them got you pregnant, would you have really been happy with that guy?”“Of cou
I walked over to Grayson quickly. “Can I talk to you?” I asked.“Um, sure. Lee’s got the babies. What’s up?”“No, I need to talk to you alone.”I pulled Grayson out of the ballroom, down the hall to where Faye had gotten ready. I made sure to lock the door before turning to him. “What’s wrong?” Grayson asked. I smiled. “Nothing.”Before Grayson could speak again, I had reached out and pulled him to me for a kiss. He gave in easily as he always did. I pulled off his suit jacket as quickly as I could. “Woah, Scar…are we about to have sex?” Grayson mumbled against my lips. “You catch on fast.”“Here? Oh I missed this side of you.”Grayson lifted me off my feet and I wrapped my legs around his torso as he backed into the couch. By the time he sat down, I had his shirt completely open. I didn’t plan on taking it off, but I wanted to feel his abs. I moved my lips to Grayson’s neck. Hearing him whimper was making me even hotter. I had missed his sounds of pleasure and his eager hands o
Dressing a baby in nice clothes is extremely hard. They move too much and clearly don’t like the restriction of their clothes, so they lash out by screaming. “Joy, sweetie, please,” Grayson sighed. “It’s a really nice dress, why are you so upset?”“I don’t think she likes the socks.” I stated. “But they’re frilly and cute.”“Scar, can you do the clasps on Julian’s shirt?” Lee questioned. “I’m sorry, but his crying is making me feel like I’m hurting him.”“Yeah, one second,” I mumbled. There was just too much going on! I was only half dressed and all I could hear was screaming.I rushed over to Julian who was squirming and crying loudly. “Okay, honey, let’s get you dressed.”I quickly clasped up shirt, trying to ignore how miserable he looked. I knew he was tired, but it was better if he was asleep during the actual wedding. I feel bad keeping the babies awake, but it would be worth it. Then after their little nap during the ceremony, they could be awake and doted on during the r
Lee was smiling like crazy. After he won the coin toss he was giddy and had a pep in his step. Sex really can change someone’s mood, even if they hadn’t had it yet. “I would like to have sex before Faye’s wedding,” Lee informed me. “Why?” I asked. “Because I know how you get about romance and weddings, it makes you horny. But then you’ll feel like doing it with Grayson and not me, since it will have been his mom’s wedding.”“You think Grayson’s birth mother getting married is going to make me horny?” “Yes, I’m sure of it.”I laughed. “Um okay, what about tonight?”“Tonight sounds perfect.” He wrapped his arms around my waist. “Grayson will watch the kids and you’ll watch me rock your world.”I kissed him. “And I’ll be on my back the whole time.”“Just the way I like you.” Lee kissed me again. “What are we doing tonight?” Grayson walked in the living room, causing me and Lee to break apart. “Um, Lee and I are gonna hang out.” I stated. “Ah. So I’m on kid duty tonight?” “Sounds
A year ago I was miserable.I had just checked into rehab and I didn’t want to be there. I was sick and shaky and dying for just one pill. I thought I was going to die. But I didn’t. Now I was a mom of two beautiful children who were my entire life. For the first time in many years, drugs were the furthest thing from my mind. I didn’t crave lines and pills and endless parties. I just wanted to take care of my babies. “Scarlett!” Grayson called. “Come quick!”My eyes shot open. I quickly realized the guys had let me sleep in. Something must be wrong now!I jumped out of bed and hurried down to the living room. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “Is everything okay?”“She laughed, babe,” Grayson smiled. “Joy laughed at me.”“But you’re not funny.”“She thinks I am.”I bent over her crib and nearly fainted. She was smiling as she babbled. “Hi princess. You’re laughing now?” I asked. Tears came to my eyes as she giggled, looking up at me. “Am I funny to you? Do I make you laugh?”“Our baby
