Alpha Logan:
Alpha Logan leaves to catch up with his flight. After sitting at the airport shortly, trying to understand what happened between me and Logan; I go home.
On getting home, I see everyone at the living room. My dad consoles my mom we cries uncontrollably. Mason sits on the couch with both hands buried in his hair and Clara rubs his shoulder.
“Hi, everyone. Surprise?”
As soon as my mom sees me, she runs to me and embraces me.
“My baby, you were going to leave your family again weren’t you? And this time you weren’t going to let anyone contact you”
“I’m sorry mom, I’m sorry I just…”
Tears decorates my face and leaves me unable to sleep. My dad sighs in relief and smiles at me.
After some minutes of tearful embraces, Mason helps me take my bags back to the bedroom. He stands by my door and leans against the frame.
“What made you change your mind?”
“Well, I don’t really know. Let’s say I ran into an angel.”
“Angel huh? I’m curious. Layla stopped you?”
He smiles deviously.
“Not really, I haven’t texted or called her since yesterday”
“What could it be then?”
“I just had a change of heart that’s all”
“Well, I’m glad you had a change of heart. Our parents were devastated.”
“Like you weren’t”
“Oh please, like I’d ever be devastated over you leaving.”
We laughed briefly
“I’ll leave you to freshen up now, come out for breakfast in a bit. We haven’t had breakfast.”
“I’m sorry about that”
“It’s fine, I’m just glad you’re back home where you belong.”
He leaves the room and closes the door.
I sit on my bed, the events that happened earlier today is something difficult for me to comprehend. Logan and I… we really did something like that.
“I should probably text Layla. She must be worried sick about me.”
My memory flashes back to when I threw my sim away. I am unable to make a phone call.
I’d go over to her house but there’s no way I’ll go there, I don’t know if she still lives with her brother.
Thoughts flood my head as I enter my bathroom and turn on the shower. I graze my lips with my fingers and smile carelessly.
“Ruby dear! You have a visitor”
“My mom’s voice comes from outside my room.”
“Visitor? I wonder who that could be”
In the living room, Marcus sits waiting as I walk in.
“Hey, Ruby!”
“Marc! Hey, it’s quite a surprise seeing you here.”
I grab a bottle of water from the refrigerator and sit by next to him
“Well, I haven’t really seen much of you since you returned.”
“I know, I apologize for that, I haven’t been giving you any time. I’m really sorry about that.”
“Ruby”
“Yeah?”
He gives me an intense stare for some seconds before speaking again.
“Why are your eyes swollen?”
“Nothing gets past you huh? You’re still as observant as you were during childhood.”
“I’ve been sleeping a lot, there’s nothing much to do since I haven’t gotten a job in town yet.”
Marcus laughs and grabs my bottle of water, he gulps it down and gives the bottle back to me.
“You’ve always been a really bad liar you know”
“Have I now?”
“Remember the time when you threw a rock and it broke my dog’s leg and then- WAIT minute, you’re trying to change the topic.”
“Caught me”
I laugh nervously trying to turn my face away from him.
“You’ve been crying a lot, why have you been crying? You look horrible.”
“It’s nothing I can’t handle, you don’t have to worry about me. It’s my problem and I’ll be fine.”
“How could you say that? You don’t wanna share things with us anymore?”
“Us?”
“Layla has been worried sick about you. We’ve called and texted you over a hundred times. The only reason why Layla isn’t here too is because she’s busy with work.”
“Oh, I see.”
Marcus never gets upset and he never raises his voice. The fact that he raised his voice at me shows how worried about me they really were.
“I’m sorry, Marcus. I’m sorry for making both you and Layla worried about me, I’ll be fine; I promise.”
“Swear?”
“I swear to the moon goddess.”
He smiles at me and nods his head.
“You still like ice cream?”
“Like I’d ever hate ice cream.”
“Then we should go out and get some. “
“We should. You’re buying”
“Of course I am, it’s my treat. But first, we need ice cubes to get rid of those swellings around your eyes.”
“Do they look that bad?”
“They look terrible actually.”
“I’ll get the ice, you’re so mean!”
He laughs as I get up and walk to the refrigerator to get ice cubes.
Immediately I open the refrigerator, a loud scream is heard coming from upstairs
“the baby is coming!”
“Mason! Mason”
My dad calls out to Mason and he runs inside the house and gets to his room.
“Clara is in labor, your baby is coming!”
Screams can be heard from Clara as Mason supports her and brings her downstairs to get her in the car.
“You’re going to be just fine honey, you’re going to be okay.”
Mason tosses the car keys to Marcus and he understands immediately, he rushes outside and opens the car door. Marcus starts up the car and waits for Mason to bring Clara in.
After much struggling, she gets in the car and it zooms off. My parents drive out in my dad’s car and I’m left at home.
I contemplated going with them but I am not properly dressed for going out.
“So I’m gonna be an aunt?”
I jump for joy and celebrate. A part of me dislikes Clara but I’m gonna have to put my differences with her.
“I should dress and go to the baby store. I should buy them baby presents, I’m gonna be an aunt!”
The baby:The new parents bring their baby back home, Marcus, Layla and I Make arrangements for the baby shower in seven days.As Clara and enters the house with the baby in her arms, I rush to embrace my brother and congratulate him on becoming a father, I also congratulate Clara.“Mason! You’re a father now! I’m so happy!”He chuckles.“Stop yelling so much, you’re an aunt now, you’ve got to be a bit more quiet”“Oh, I’m sorry about that, congratulations, brother.”I whisper and giggle. The house is filled with friends of the new parents and Mason has a lot to attend to so I help Clara upstairs to her room“She’s soo cute, can I hold her?”“Sure, of course.”“Carefully she hands the baby to me as we walk upstairs.”“It’s a he”“What?”“You have a nephew, not a niece.”I marvel at her words as I stare at her with eyes wide open.“You mean…”“Yes, in a few years our pack will have an alpha candidate to take over the Reid pack.”“I can’t believe this, he’s not beta blood?”“He’s not, w
Kissed:“Logan!”“Surprised to see me?”“I just…. Didn’t know you were back.”“I told you I’d be back soon didn’t I?”“I don’t remember you saying so, I’m just surprised.”I stare at him in amazement, the way my heart feels is something I am unable to understand.“You’re just gonna stand there like that?”“Oh? Forgive my rudeness, please come in.”“That’s not what I meant, did you not miss me?”“Miss you? I don’t think I did.”In actuality, I missed him very much and I try to cover up my feelings by smiling nervously.“You’re mean”“Because I didn’t miss you?”With fast movements, he plants a kiss on my cheek.“How about now?”My face and body feels hot but I try to deny it.“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Alpha Logan.”“Okay then, aren’t you going to let me in?”Please come in, I’m sure my brother would be surprised to see you.“Not really, he called me.”“Is that why you’re here?”“Partly, there’s another reason.”“What other reason is there?”“I’m looking at her”He stares
Mr. ReidMy parents never knew the details of what happened between me and Logan, they thought we just had a quarrel before I left for America five years ago. I was trying to keep it that way, I didn’t want the drama to escalate. My parents had asked me several times about why I don’t have a mate and I’ve been telling them that the right person hasn’t come.I had to pretend in front of everyone to make sure that drama didn’t take place.“Hello, it’s been a while, Alpha.”“It’s really been a while, you’ve changed a lot.”I descend the staircase and walk towards him.“How have you been?”“Good, I’m in excellent health.”“I’m glad to hear that. How ARE you?”“I’m good, spent a few years studying in America.”“I see, why’d you suddenly chose to come back?”“You didn’t miss me?”“I didn’t, but I can’t say I didn’t think about you”The whole time, I wear a bitter smile on my face as he spouts his rubbish.“You thought about me? I’m flattered.”Layla who stands beside me, could tell from my
The Truth:“Where are we going?”“I don’t really know, you pulled me away”“Logan! You’re bleeding so much, how could I not?”“It’s nothing, it’s just blood”“Just blood? If you lose much of it you’ll die.”“Where are we going?”“Well, there’s a hospital up front where I can get a stitch”“You needn’t worry about that. Let’s just stop somewhere. I have a first aid kit on me.”“Do you know how to use it?”“I told you I’m a doctor remember? Please pull over.”“My house is just by the corner, there’s no need to pull over here.”“You have blood all over your face, how are you so calm?”“This is nothing. I’m an alpha remember?”“You really want to take me home? You didn’t ask if I’d be okay with that.”“Are you not?”“I have no problem with it.”After 30 minutes of driving, Logan stops the car in front of a building. It doesn’t look like a mansion despite how rich he is. The house looks small and simple, a comfortable place.“Can you walk? Do you need support?”“You don’t need to worry abo
The Scent:I open my eyes in an unfamiliar place, my windows which I open every morning are not the same. The room doesn’t smell the same, this scent…. It’s Logan’s….“Oh, that’s right, I’m not home. Wait…. Last night.”I get off the bed and notice that I’m wearing a big shirt with my bra and panties underneath, a shirt that doesn’t belong to me. “Where’s he? Where’s he?”I search but I don’t see him anywhere in the room, not even the bathroom. As I attempt to leave the room, he comes in with a tray of coffee and deviled eggs.“Um.. Good morning”“Good morning to you too.”My eyes are unable to meet his without me becoming embarrassed so I divert my eyes.“Did you sleep well, Ruby?”He drops the tray on a small table close to then bed; then sits at the bottom of the bed.“I think so”“I’m glad. I made you breakfast in bed, too bad you weren’t in bed when I came in.”He laughs nervously and strokes his hair backwards.“Logan, can I ask you something?” “We didn’t do anything, if that’
Clara:Music from my house echoes through the street, the party had already started and I wasn’t there.I take to running and sprint with full speed to get home.On reaching the house, I realize that I’m sweaty and my hair is a mess; I didn’t get to comb my hair over at Mason’s place because he has comb for women.I take the backdoor that leads to the basement. My room is the first destination I reach, I manage to enter my room without anyone noticing me.I’m lucky I entered unnoticed. Mason must be worried, I left my phone home so no one would know my whereabouts.I talk to myself as I shut the door.“You’re right, Mason is very worried about you.”Shock goes down my spine as I hear the voice of someone other than me in my room. The voice is one I recognize so I don’t bother turning around.“Marcus, how did you know?”You’ve always had the habit of escaping into your room straight from the basement whenever you did something wrong.“I guess they don’t. But I did nothing wrong this ti
Call the Doctor:My eyes open and close as nurses pushes me to the Intensive care unit on a stretcher.Members of my family occasionally comes into my sight as my sight goes on and off. I am unable to hear anything other than a sharp ringing sound which feels like it’d drive me crazy.“Will she be okay? Please tell me she’ll be okay.”She’s losing to much blood, if we don’t do something about it immediately, we’ll lose her. These are the only words my ears catch before I pass out totally.“She’s waking up, her fingers are moving.”This sound comes from a distance and I don’t quite recognize the voice of the speaker.“Call the doctor, her vitals need to be checked.”“Where am I? Wasn’t I just at the….oh, that’s right; I’m dead. This must be the afterlife.”“Ruby, Ruby! Open your eyes honey, open your eyes for me.”That voice I do recognize, it’s my mom’s voice. Are my eyes closed? It explains why I see total darkness.Slowly I raise my eye lids. The intensity of the light causes me the
Layla's Brother:Layla’s brother walks in the room unannounced. His entrance is followed by an awkward silence from my family members. Even I am too weak to tell him off.I try to get on my feet but my legs still feel weak, I sit back down on the bed and turn my face to the window.“Um…if I could get everyone’s attention please. There’s something I’d like to say.”Layla stares at her brother intensely.“Go on. Tell us”Layla says to him.“I’m sorry for everything that happened tonight. I’m sorry for everything that happened the other day too; I believe it’s partly my fault.”I look around the room, the atmosphere is cold. He gets no reply from anyone in the room“Could you guys excuse us please?”I ask politely and everyone leaves the room.“What do you want? Alpha?”He shuts the door and sits next to me on the bed.“What I want? Forgiveness; I need you to forgive me. I’ve done a lot of awful things to you and I regret them all.”“You must think this is some sick joke, Alpha; you’ve r
LoganHe’s ripping into me like a ravenous hyena, all teeth and jaw as he tears flesh from bone. He doesn’t like his position threatened. But he should have thought about that before coming to my doorstep. Now all I want is blood.Tarus and I circle each other. Eyes never leaving each other, always at attention. Muscles contracting, vibrating fur with the need to lunge. He snarls at me and I smirk. He lunges at me.A full-on assault. His wolf has no problem showing why he’s the Alpha. Instead of taking the offensive, Tarus is reduced to taking defensive tactics in a need for self-preservation. He has become weak He tries to eat away at my flesh slowly, making it hurt. The trail of blood saturates the ground, unable to be absorbed by the frozen earth. Paws drip, painting the mosaic of red abstract art on the canvas of life. My wolf doesn’t relent. He shows that the wrong decision was made. Sometimes you just have to learn the hard way in order for things to sink in. He had no chance
Logan The inability to move, fingers gripping into the earth as if I could hold on to it. Trying so hard to just hang on the fact that Logan would never leave me, he will come back.My tears stopped hours ago, yet somehow I just can’t seem to pick myself off the ground. I can’t get up. This is what love does. When it’s broken, it tears you apart. It ruins you in the end. “Ruby, it’s time to get up.” Layla is behind me, urging me to pick myself up. I wish somehow I could. I have done this to myself. I have no one to blame but me. I should have been stronger. I should have stopped it, fought harder against it. I was weak. “Take a step for me, Ruby, one foot in front of the other.” Layla sounds like her voice is cracking inside her throat. The only male that has ever loved me is gone and I ruined it. I threw it all away because I wasn’t strong or quick to stop Ethan. All I have left are memories now. That’s all I will ever have of him…memories. Logan saw me with Ethan, his dick
Ruby“I need to go home and pack, Ruby. I don’t have very much left here. You should start packing. tonight you and I could go visit you’re your friends in the pack to say goodbye.” I laugh slightly. “All right, Logan, we can go together.” “I won’t be long, okay? Just a few hours. Then we can just leave.” I give him a quick kiss, and he leaves to get his stuff. Taking my suitcases from out of the closet, I start packing everything I own, which really isn’t very much. While eating my meal, the wine is hard to swallow for some reason. I then jump on my bed a little before putting on the TV. I watch a couple of shows before my eyes start to feel droopy. I look at the clock and find it’s only been an hour. I decide to nap since I’m done packing, then wait for Logan.Sighing, I get up and walk towards the TV. I turn it off, and I’m about to walk to my bed when a knock on the door sounds. I frown, wondering who on earth it could be. Maybe it’s Logan, but the way the wolf approached w
“you know what your problem is, Ethan? I don’t think you know if you keep on going against me and doing stupid shits that ruins my reputation and the pack’s reputation. Why are you such a stupid shit. Good for nothing”I hate it when my father calls me that. He only does it when he’s very angry and that seems to be a lot now. He always angry at me these days. No one calls me stupid shit or useless. But those are his new names for me, it has been so for a while now.I just can’t get why he would do this, I get that he adopted my sister and I when we were just pups. I mean he doesn’t say shit like that to my sister. I guess I’m just the exception. And he always sneers it. Because my given name wasn’t his idea. It was my nanny who was more of a mother to me but sadly we lost her too early. She insisted on the name an it stuck.“Well? Do you?” There’s a bulging vein sticking out the side of his neck. “This a real question? You really want me to tell you what my problem is now father. Bec
RubyI make it to my Layla’s house. “I figured you’d show up.” Layla smiles as she uses the spatula to lift the cookies off the tray and put them on the cooling rack. I go for one, and she warns me like a mother hen, “Careful.” “I love when you make cookies. It makes the house smell wonderful and gives it a homey feeling.” That’s not here much anymore, and I’m not sure if it’s ever going to come back. “ I’m actually starting to hate this place more and more every day. I don’t know if it’s out of resentment because I’ve been kept here alone, and that’s because my mate is always busy with Logan now. No offence Ruby, to your mate, he pretty good to. but you need to tell him to cut my mate some slack. We have a young pup.” Layla says. “I’ve been dealing with the handful of a pup, so I had to do something. You know how baking just calms me.” She points at one of the cookies, letting me know it’s okay to pick up. I take a bite and think that six months ago I would have said nothing tast
RubyI ran to where Logan and Tarus were still fighting. Tarus spots me and tries to go after me but Logan stops him with a punch that sends me back a few paces.“ Come here mate” Tarus says. His words repulsing me.For Pete’s sake, Tarus. How many times do I have to say I’m not yours, I e never claimed to be yours?” I’d thought once Logan confronted him that would be end of it. Nope. He keeps on coming to destroy my happiness. I never imagined he will be this obsessed with me.“As if I would have listened. You and I are meant to be.”“No we’re not. Im not yours, never was. I’m with my mate now.”“shut up” He practically hissed the word.I froze. “How do you know about Layla?”“Because I’ve been watching. It took me forever to find you, and then I had to be careful lest they try and keep us apart. Didn’t you get my messages?”“What messages?” I asked through stiff lips, even as it hit her. Those emails I'd been getting, those texts, they must have been Tarus. I never mentioned them t
People of the pack had given them a wide berth. Watching the two alphas fight. If he didn’t win today, whether killing the motherfucker or sending him running with his tail between his legs then, my mate would be in bigger trouble. I walked up to the middle of the clearing to meet my enemy in the middle of this battlefield and see which one of us was going to die first. I watch my enemy prowl to meet me from the other side of the clearing. When they had initially faced off Tarus must have thought he would win in two seconds flat. But from the look of his face now, he was angry. Had he really thought it would be over that quickly? That he would just seize my throat five seconds into the fight and leave him there to bleed out. If Tarus was going to kill me in front of everyone on the island, I was damn well going to make him work for it. Given the grueling nature of the fight, it had seemed obvious to shift and fight in wolf form. I had dodged Tarus’s claws without parrying, danced ou
Im heading to the site where we are building some new buildings for new pack members and those from my pack who will help stay here to protect this pack till it can stand better on its own tow feet. I round the bend heading to the new houses when I see trucks pull up.Two of them. All filled with wolf shifters from Tarus’s pack.I clench my jaw as my wolf starts snarling inside. I grin when I taste how eager he is for a fight. What the fuck were these fuckers looking for?Good wolf. We’re going to need all that aggression. The doors open and five wolf shifters spill out. Some of the guys are young, but they’re all big, except for a scrawny kid with wild messy hair. I have my eyes locked on their alpha Tarus. He actually came here himself. He tormented my girl. He’s a dead man.“Who the hell are these guys?” Marcus asks from behind me. I watch my crew walk closer to me.I’m feeling better as they stand by my side.“These are the fuckers who have been after Ruby,” my beta growls. “And
LoganI didn’t sleep at all last night, but it wasn’t because I was longing for my mate but for the fact she will spend sometime in the present of that idiot, Ethan.I’m up before the sun, showered, and dressed in clean jeans and a dark button-down collared shirt by the time the sun first cracks over the horizon. My mate Ruby had to head out to the pack house so she and Mason and Ethan could go see his supposed new mate. I had driven he there and bid her goodbye.I can’t stop thinking about her. I look at my hands, squeezing my fingers in and out of fists, knowing that they were on her body. They were on her gorgeous face. I can still taste the ripe sweetness of her mouth. The softness of her tongue.I waited for her for what feels like hours, but it’s only been two hours since she left. She arrives at about three hours later and when I see her standing in front of my office, I race over to greet her.“Hello,” she says shyly as she comes in. “Welcome back,” I say as my bear starts pac
