After school, Rory went to pay a visit to her Nana at her flower shop. She was helping her tend to the flowers, with her apron on, in silence. Taking care of the flowers was easy since the flower shop was very small. Her eyes swept the whole place in one glance. It had a small round dining table close to the entrance of the house her Nana lived in, which was separated by a thread curtain, even her house was small. There was a door and two windows on both sides of the tool that allowed the sun to shine on the flowers lined up in front of them. Nana Clarisse had a bad knee so the size of the shop was very practical, but Roryâs brows creased. Since she arrived there had only been one customer and the customer bought a bouquet for ten dollars. The prices of every other flower were within this range because of the neighborhood they were in. Was it pain? She asked herself. No, it couldnât be. She knew pain; she had felt it over and over again that it was like a sister to her more than her real sister ever was. Daniel, who had never been speechless and caught off guard, was in a state of shock.She was inexperienced and her soft, pink lips moved brashly against his. Chapter 3. Illegitimate. "She's such an unfilial child! She's nothing like my Sammy!" A woman who was in her mid-forties spoke resentfully. The person who spoke was Mrs. Devane, Aurora's stepmom. Her patience wore thin when she kicked Aurora out of the house. That good-for-nothing dared to push her daughter down the stairs. Her baby landed in the hospital and she has been here for a week. It's all thanks to that disgraceful child. "Mom, don't say that. Rory didn't mean to do it. It was an accident". Her voice was gentle. She was Sammy. She was lying on the hospital bed. Her face was extremely pale and white. Her face alone could make you want to protect her. She looked weak. "An accident? It wasn't an accident. She deliberately pushed you off the stairs, Sammy!" When they got back home, Rory just locked herself up in her room. It had been hard standing. Her legs were in so much pain. ***Daniel got changed in another room and went to his study. He was catching up on work, but he couldnât focus. Roryâs face kept popping up in his mind. They hadnât known each other for long but he knew she wasnât someone who got emotional easily. So what could have happened? Was he worried for her? He ignored the nagging feeling in his heart and continued his work. However, no matter how hard he tried he couldnât shut her out.At last, he conceded and called his assistant into the study.âWhere did she go?â Daniel asked Frank who was already preparing to sleep.
