I was looking from my computer to the paper in hands. They were some permits that needed to be confirmed and submitted. Normally, I would have one of the teams I’d hired to handle permits do it. However, these specific permits had been rejected going on four times now. Either we were dealing with a pissy and spiteful pencil-pusher or something was wrong.

It took going over the information multiple times and a mind-numbing amount of reading. The only saving grace was that Ria was in the office with me today. She was sitting on the floor with her paints and the painting I’d been staring at for going on ten years. Finally, it was getting a much needed improvement. She’d stared about two hours ago. I’d need to have her come up for air soon so we could have lunch.

Still, I got the perfect side view of her as she focused on the painting. A smile crept onto my face as I watched her. She was stunning. Even when she didn’t realize she was sticking her tongue out as she steadied her hand. Part
