Aria couldn’t sit still.

The moment Alejandro left the room, an uneasy feeling settled in her chest. She wrapped a blanket around herself, staring at the door like she expected him to walk back in any second.

But he didn’t.

Instead, the hallway remained eerily silent.

She swung her legs off the bed, her heartbeat quickening. If it was urgent enough for Jace to interrupt Alejandro, it had to be serious.

And she needed to know what the hell was going on.

Alejandro’s study door was slightly open when she got there.

She stayed in the shadows, listening.

Jace’s voice was low but tense. "She’s not lying. Valentina’s being hunted."

Alejandro exhaled sharply. "By who?"

Jace hesitated. "Someone worse than us."

Aria pressed a hand to her chest to keep herself from gasping out loud.

Worse than Alejandro? Worse than his cartel?

Alejandro scoffed. "You expect me to believe that?"

Jace’s tone was firm. "Believe whatever the fuck you want, but whoever it is, they’re power

The tension in the air was thick enough to choke on. Aria’s body still tingled from Alejandro’s kiss, but the weight of Jace’s words crashed down hard. We’re about to have company. Alejandro’s grip on her tightened for a second before he released her completely. His expression was back to that cold, calculating mask. "How many?" Jace exhaled. "At least ten, maybe more. Armed. They’re closing in fast." Aria’s heart pounded. Ten men? Who the hell were these people? Alejandro turned to Valentina, his voice sharp. "Did you know about this?" Valentina scoffed, shaking her head. "If I did, I wouldn’t still be standing here, would I?" Jace cursed under his breath. "We don’t have time to argue. We need to move." Alejandro’s mind was already working at lightning speed. He turned to Aria. "Go back inside. Now." "No." The word left her lips before she could think. His eyes flashed dangerously. "Aria." She swallowed, stepping closer. "I’m not just going to hide while you’r

Aria’s body still ached from the night before, but it wasn’t the pain that kept her awake it was Alejandro. The way he kissed her, the way his hands explored every inch of her skin, the way he made her forget every danger surrounding them. But the moment the sun rose, reality came crashing back. She turned in bed, half expecting to see him beside her, but the sheets were cold. He was gone. A sharp pang hit her chest. She sat up, wrapping the blanket around herself. Last night had been different. It wasn’t just passion it was something more. Something terrifying. Before she could dwell on it, a knock sounded at the door. "Aria?" It was Maria. Aria exhaled, pushing back her emotions. "Come in." Maria stepped inside, her expression unreadable. She shut the door behind her, then crossed her arms. "Tell me you didn’t do what I think you did." Aria hesitated. "Maria " "Aria," Maria groaned, dragging a hand down her face. "Alejandro? Really?" Aria’s heart thudded. "It

Aria could still taste Alejandro on her lips as she sat at the desk in his study, a laptop in front of her. But there was no time to dwell on the way his kiss had made her feel she had work to do. Alejandro and Jace stood behind her, their presence heavy. The tension in the room was thick, but Aria tuned it out, fingers flying over the keyboard. She was in. The Varela Cartel wasn’t as secure as they thought. Their servers were old, their encryption sloppy. A few backdoors and she had access to their internal communications. "Got something," she murmured. Alejandro leaned over her shoulder, his breath warm against her neck. "What is it?" Aria swallowed, forcing herself to focus. "They have an encrypted message scheduled to send out in…" she checked the timestamp, her stomach twisting, "ten minutes." Jace cursed under his breath. "Can you stop it?" Aria smirked. "I can do more than that." Her fingers danced over the keys. She bypassed their firewalls, rerouted the mess

Alejandro didn’t hesitate as he pulled Aria by the wrist, guiding her through the alleyways with military precision. His movements were swift and purposeful, yet his grip on her never loosened, as though he couldn’t afford to let her go not even for a second. Her heart raced, her body flooded with adrenaline. Her hands shook slightly, not from fear but from the electric surge of being close to him, in the thick of the chaos, fighting side by side. They reached the street where their cars were parked, but there was no sign of Jace or the rest of the team. Alejandro cursed under his breath, scanning their surroundings. "Where the hell is Jace?" he muttered, his voice tight with frustration. Aria didn’t answer. She couldn’t her mind was too focused on the feeling of Alejandro’s hand clutching hers. His presence was a rock, his raw power almost tangible as they moved through the shadows, trying to stay out of sight. But then, the crackle of a radio interrupted the silence. Ale

Aria’s eyes fluttered open, her head pounding, her body stiff and sore. It took her a moment to register where she was lying on a cold, hard surface. The faint scent of antiseptic lingered in the air, mixing with something else something familiar. Alejandro. Her heart skipped a beat as she tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her body, forcing her to lie back down. She groaned, her vision still blurry. She needed to see him, needed to know he was okay. As her senses slowly returned, she heard the soft sound of footsteps approaching. Her breath caught as the silhouette of a man emerged from the dim light. It was him. Alejandro’s face appeared before her, his features taut with worry, but his eyes never left hers. He knelt beside her, his strong hand cupping her cheek, a look of both relief and guilt written all over his face. "Aria," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "You’re awake. Thank God." The relief in his voice made her heart ache. Despite everythin

Aria’s chest felt heavy as the deafening silence stretched between her and Alejandro. The study's air was thick, suffocating her with the weight of the truth she hadn’t yet spoken. She tried to find the right words, but Alejandro’s piercing gaze pinned her in place, demanding answers without a single word. “Why, Aria?” His voice was low, dangerous, and edged with betrayal. She swallowed hard, her fingers twisting nervously in her lap. “Alejandro, I… I didn’t mean for this to happen.” His jaw tightened, and the veins in his neck bulged as he leaned forward. “Didn’t mean for what to happen? For you to betray me? For you to work against me while you lay in my bed?” Her breath hitched, and her heart broke at the venom in his voice. “No, that’s not how it was. I… I was scared. I thought ” “You thought you could outsmart me,” he snapped, his voice rising, his hand slamming down on the desk. The sound echoed through the room, making Aria flinch. Alejandro’s fingers lingered on Aria’s cheek, his touch warm against her skin. For a brief moment, the chaos surrounding them faded, leaving only the two of them in their fragile world. “You shouldn’t look at me like that,” he murmured, his voice low, almost vulnerable. “Like what?” she asked, though her heart was racing, her pulse loud in her ears. “Like you trust me,” he replied, his thumb tracing the line of her jaw. “I’ve done nothing to deserve it.” Her hand came up, covering his, grounding him. “You’ve done everything to protect me. That’s more than enough.” Alejandro’s eyes darkened, and she felt the pull between them like a magnetic force. Without thinking, he leaned in, his lips brushing against hers with a softness that belied the storm inside him. Aria responded instinctively, her fingers curling into his shirt as she kissed him back. The kiss deepened, his grip tightening on her waist as if he feared letting her go. It was desperate, passionate an outlet for th

The atmosphere in the compound had shifted. A tense, unrelenting pressure weighed on everyone as Miguel's shadow loomed over their operations. Alejandro paced in his study, his jaw clenched, his mind running through possible counterattacks. The information Aria had uncovered earlier played in his head like a puzzle he couldn’t piece together fast enough. "Enough pacing," Juan muttered from the corner, his voice tight. "We need a plan, and we need it now." "I have a plan," Alejandro snapped. "But I need more details before I execute it. Miguel’s always been calculating he wouldn’t strike unless he knows he can cripple us." Juan leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. "And that bloodied man he sent us earlier? What do you call that?" "A warning." Alejandro’s voice was low, dangerous. "But I don’t take kindly to warnings." Before Juan could respond, the door creaked open, and Aria stepped in, her eyes scanning the room cautiously. "You shouldn’t be here," Alejandro s

The forest was eerily quiet as dawn bled through the twisted silhouettes of trees. A thick mist hugged the earth, softening the edges of bloodshed and ash that had stained the night. Alejandro sat by the fire they barely had time to light, his eyes locked on the flames like they might offer absolution. Across from him, Aria wrapped a torn blanket around her shoulders, shivering not from the cold but from the storm inside her chest. Jace was resting nearby, his wound stitched with trembling hands and the pain dulled by makeshift medication. For now, they were alive. But they were cornered.Aria's mind wouldn’t rest. Dario’s words echoed relentlessly: "She doesn't even know what she's carrying." What did it mean? She stared at the data drive again, holding it as if it might explode with answers. Somewhere within its encrypted layers lay a truth powerful enough to drive a cartel mad. A truth they were now willing to kill for.Alejandro noticed her grip tightening and stood, walking to he

The night air was thick with tension, so much that it clung to Aria’s skin like a second layer. The distant crunch of footsteps on gravel made her grip the pistol tighter. Every shadow seemed to pulse with danger, every sound a possible threat. From where she crouched beside the jagged cliff edge, she could make out the dark shapes of their enemies disembarking from the boat, weapons drawn, eyes sweeping the terrain.Beside her, Alejandro’s breathing was calm, calculated. He crouched low, his back against the rocks, a rifle balanced on his knee. Though the moment was dire, there was a stillness in him, like the eye of a storm. His hand brushed Aria’s shoulder gently a silent promise that they would survive this. Not just for themselves, but for everything they had endured together. She turned to look at him, their eyes locking in the darkness. His gaze held fire, but beneath it, she caught something unexpected. Regret.“Alejandro,” she whispered, “if we don’t make it ”“We will,” he c

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a pale glow over the water, but the night felt darker now heavier. Aria’s breath came in shallow bursts as the boat jolted through the waves. Every second felt like an eternity as the engines of their pursuers roared in the distance. The sound was a constant reminder of the danger they were in. But even as they neared the narrow mouth of the cove, there was a sense of urgency in the air. This was it the moment of reckoning.Alejandro stood tall, his figure unwavering against the pressure that weighed down on them. His eyes never left the distant horizon as he clutched the wheel, steering them with precision and determination. He was a man used to fighting for survival, but Aria had seen enough of his vulnerability over the past weeks to understand that even he didn’t know if they would make it out of this alive."We’re almost there," Jace called out from the back of the boat, his voice strained. "But they’re right behind us. We won’t have time to

The boat rocked gently in the moonlight, its hull cutting through the water like a knife slicing through soft fabric. The soft sound of waves was a stark contrast to the chaos that had unfolded hours before. Aria stood at the edge, her hands gripping the cold metal of the railing as she looked out over the vast ocean. Her thoughts were a tangled mess, much like the storm that raged inside her.Alejandro stood behind her, his presence solid, unwavering. He hadn’t spoken much since the ambush, his mind undoubtedly weighed down by the same fears and worries that gripped her chest. But he had said one thing that had lingered in her mind: "We can’t keep running."She couldn’t help but wonder if he was right."We need to face him," Alejandro had said earlier, his voice low but certain. "Santiago will never stop. He’s too dangerous, and now that we’re marked, there’s no escaping it."But how did one face a man like Santiago De La Cruz? A man who had no morals, no hesitation, and no fear in h

The morning crept in like a thief, casting a faint glow over the broken windows and dust-covered floors. Aria sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes as if she could wipe away the exhaustion that clung to her bones. She hadn't slept not really. She'd closed her eyes, listened to Alejandro’s soft, steady breathing beside her, and tried to convince herself they were safe. But her mind had spun in endless circles, haunted by what might come next.Alejandro was already up, pacing near the window. His shirt was wrinkled, his jaw unshaven, and his eyes had that dark gleam again the one that made her nervous, the one that said something had shifted inside him overnight.“What are you thinking?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. He didn’t turn to look at her. “I’m thinking we might not have as much time as I hoped.”Aria swung her legs off the bed, her bare feet touching the cold floor. “Why? What happened?”“There was a black SUV parked on the road this morning,” he said. “It wasn’t there

Aria stood by the car, her heart racing as Alejandro moved toward the house. The darkness around her felt suffocating, and the air, thick with silence, seemed to press in on her from every side. She watched Alejandro’s silhouette disappear into the shadows, his movements deliberate, confident, but there was something about his presence that felt fragile, as though the weight of everything that had been left unsaid was finally beginning to break through. Her mind churned with questions—questions she couldn’t yet answer. Why this house? Why was it abandoned? Who was he running from, really? And why was she, too, caught up in this whirlwind of chaos and danger? She had no answers, and the uncertainty gnawed at her, making her feel more isolated than ever. She hugged her arms to her chest, her eyes scanning the property. The house loomed before her, its broken windows and decaying structure standing like a silent sentinel in the night. The wind howled through the trees, a mournful sound t

The night seemed to stretch on forever, the hum of the engine becoming a low, constant reminder of the tension that hung thick between Aria and Alejandro. They were driving into the unknown, each mile taking them further from the world they had once known, but closer to something darker, something that Aria couldn’t quite understand.Alejandro’s grip on the steering wheel was tight, his knuckles pale as he navigated the road with a precision that spoke of years of experience. But despite the calm exterior, Aria could see the tension in his jaw, the way his eyes flicked to the rearview mirror every few seconds. They were being followed—she could feel it. And she had a sinking feeling that this was just the beginning. The phone call had left a bitter taste in the air, and Alejandro hadn’t spoken since. He had only snapped the phone shut and tossed it onto the passenger seat beside him, his gaze locked on the road ahead.Aria, unsure of what to say, sat in silence, her fingers nervously
