The deafening sound of gunfire shattered the silence, echoing off the steel walls of the warehouse. Alejandro barely had time to shove Aria behind a stack of crates before bullets tore through the air, splintering wood and sending metal debris flying.

"Stay down!" he barked, drawing his gun and returning fire.

Jace and Valentina had already taken cover, their weapons spitting lead at the unseen attackers. Shadows flickered in the dim light, movement barely perceptible as Santiago's men tried to flank them.

Aria’s breath came in short gasps as she pressed herself against the cold surface of the crate. Her fingers itched to reach for a weapon, but Alejandro had made it clear she was not to take unnecessary risks. Still, she wasn’t the kind of woman to sit and do nothing.

She peered through a small gap between the crates, her sharp eyes scanning the area. There a flicker of movement. She barely had time to react before she saw a gunman creeping toward Alejandro’s blind spot.

Alejandro lay awake, staring at the ceiling, listening to Aria’s steady breathing beside him. She had fallen asleep in his arms after their intense moment, exhaustion finally taking over. But his mind wouldn’t rest.Santiago’s attack tonight had made one thing clear this war was reaching its peak. Either he took Santiago down first, or they would all end up in graves. His fingers brushed over Aria’s bare shoulder, tracing small patterns on her skin. She shifted slightly, murmuring something in her sleep, before settling again. She had changed everything.Alejandro had spent years building his empire, making decisions without hesitation. He never cared about collateral damage, never second-guessed his instincts. But Aria made him pause. She made him think about the consequences, about what he stood to lose. And now, for the first time in his life, losing wasn’t an option. He carefully slid out of bed, throwing on his jeans and grabbing his gun from the nightstand. He needed air, needed

The black SUV sped through the dimly lit streets, slicing through the silence of the night. Alejandro sat in the passenger seat, his fingers drumming against his thigh as the weight of what was to come pressed down on him. The air inside the vehicle was thick with tension, and for once, even Jace was quiet, his usual sarcasm absent.Aria sat between Valentina and Jace in the backseat, her face illuminated by the glow of the city lights flashing past. Her hands were clasped tightly together, but Alejandro could tell she wasn’t afraid. She was preparing herself.“We go in silent,” Alejandro instructed. “No unnecessary noise, no distractions.” His eyes flicked to Aria through the rearview mirror. “That includes you.”She met his gaze without hesitation. “I know.”Jace exhaled sharply. “I still think this is a terrible idea.”Valentina smirked. “You always think everything is a terrible idea.”“This time, I’m right,” Jace shot back.Alejandro ignored them, his focus shifting back to the r

The docks erupted into chaos.Gunfire echoed across the water, flashes of muzzle fire illuminating the night. Alejandro dove behind a stack of metal crates, dragging Aria with him as bullets whizzed past. Jace and Valentina split off in opposite directions, using the darkness to their advantage.Santiago stood calmly at the end of the pier, watching with amusement as his men closed in.Alejandro peeked around the crate, firing two quick shots. One of Santiago’s men crumpled, but more took his place.“Too many,” Jace shouted from behind a shipping container. He was still bleeding, but he was moving like the wound didn’t exist.Valentina took out another attacker with a clean shot to the throat, but they were being cornered. The only way out was the water or through Santiago.Alejandro made his decision in a heartbeat.“Jace, get Aria out of here!”Jace hesitated, but one look at Alejandro’s expression told him there was no arguing. He grabbed Aria’s arm, pulling her toward the edge of

The boat cut through the dark waters, its engine humming steadily. The city lights had long disappeared behind them, leaving only the vast ocean stretching ahead. A heavy silence hung in the air, broken only by the rhythmic crashing of waves against the hull.Alejandro leaned against the railing, his mind still racing. His hands gripped the cold metal tightly, as if trying to ground himself. The adrenaline from the fight still pulsed through his veins, but beneath it was something deeper something unsettling.Aria stood beside him, watching his profile. She could see the tension in his shoulders, the storm in his eyes. Gently, she reached out, placing a hand over his.“We made it,” she whispered.Alejandro let out a slow breath, turning his hand over to lace his fingers with hers. He didn’t say anything for a moment, just held onto her as if she were the only real thing in a world that had been nothing but chaos.Miguel, still pale from blood loss, leaned against a crate, his eyes hal

Alejandro moved like a ghost through the fightfast, calculated, ruthless. He fired another shot, dropping one of Santiago’s men before he could reach Aria. This was a death trap.Jace ducked behind a crate, reloading his gun with sharp, practiced movements. “They’re trying to sink the damn boat!” he shouted over the gunfire.Alejandro gritted his teeth. Santiago wasn’t just trying to kill themhe wanted to leave them stranded in the middle of nowhere, vulnerable and easy to pick off.A body dropped beside him. Miguel. The cold night air pressed against Alejandro’s skin as the boat rocked beneath his feet. Aria’s hand gripped his tightly, her fingers trembling slightly. He could feel her pulse racing, matching the rapid beat of his own heart.Santiago’s men stood in a loose semicircle around them, weapons drawn. There were six of themtoo many to take on unarmed. Alejandro’s mind worked furiously, searching for a way out, but every option led to the same conclusion: they were trapped. The leader, a man with a scar running down the side of his face, smirked. “Move.”Alejandro clenched his jaw. “Where are you taking us?”The man’s smirk widened. “You’ll see soon enough.”Jace shifted slightly beside him, his body tense, ready to fight. The air inside the cell was thick with tension. Alejandro paced the confined space, his mind racing. Every second they spent trapped in Santiago’s grasp only increased the risk. Aria watched him, her fingers twisting together.“We can’t just sit here,” Jace muttered, rubbing his jaw. “He’ll kill us one by one.”Alejandro stopped pacing. “No, he won’t. Santiago enjoys making people suffer before he finishes them off. He wants a spectacle, not a quick death.”Miguel exhaled sharply from his corner. “Then we use that against him.”A loud clang echoed from the door. Everyone stiffened. The lock clicked, and the door creaked open. Two armed guards entered, followed by Santiago himself.Dressed in a crisp black suit, Santiago exuded an air of confidence, his smirk cutting through the dim light. He stepped inside, his gaze sweeping over them like a predator surveying trapped prey.“Quite the reunion,” he mused. “You didn’t think I’d let you slip away so easily, did you?”Alejandro’s jaw tigh

The underground lair was a maze of dimly lit corridors, the air thick with gunpowder and sweat. Aria’s breath came in sharp bursts as she ran, her fingers tightly intertwined with Alejandro’s. Every step they took, every turn they made, the sound of chaos followed them gunfire, screams, the echo of boots pounding against the concrete floors. They weren’t safe. Not yet.“Keep moving!” Jace shouted over the noise, leading the way through the labyrinth of tunnels. Valentina was right behind him, reloading her gun with practiced ease, while Miguel, still weakened from his injury, staggered but kept pace.Alejandro gritted his teeth. He knew Santiago wouldn’t let them escape that easily. The bastard would have backup men stationed at every exit, snipers waiting in the shadows. Barely. But he needs a doctor soon.”Alejandro nodded, his mind already calcul

Alejandro stood near the helm, his grip on the wheel tightening. Every nerve in his body was wired, his instincts screaming at him to stay on edge. He had learned long ago that survival meant never letting his guard down.Aria sat beside him, her hand resting on his knee. The touch was grounding, but it did little to silence the storm brewing inside him. She could see it in his eyesthe darkness, the fury, the relentless need for revenge."We're almost there," Jace muttered, checking the GPS. "Another ten minutes."Miguel groaned from where he lay, his wound hastily bandaged. "Let's hope we don’t have another welcoming party."Valentina reloaded her gun with calm precision. "If we do, we make sure they regret showing up."Alejandro exhaled sharply, his jaw clenching. "Santiago isn’t done. He knows we got away, and he won

The echoes of gunfire had faded, but the tension in the air remained thick. The boat rocked slightly as Alejandro stood at the helm, his hands gripping the wheel with white-knuckled intensity. The salt-laced wind whipped against his face, but his mind was elsewhereback on the deck, back in the chaos, back in the moment Aria was nearly taken from him.She stood nearby, watching him carefully. Despite the exhaustion weighing down her limbs, she refused to let herself rest. They weren’t safe yet, and even if they were, she knew better than to let her guard down. Not with Santiago lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike.Jace was checking the remaining ammunition, his face tight with concentration. The cartel enforcer was pale but still conscious, his usual smirk dulled by the pain."We need a plan," Aria finally spoke, breaking the heavy silence. Her voice was firm, but there was an underly

The night was suffocatingly quiet after the chaos. The only sounds were the rhythmic lapping of waves against the damaged boat and the occasional groans of pain from the wounded. Alejandro stood at the helm, his grip on the railing so tight his knuckles turned white. The salt air burned his nostrils, but it did nothing to clear the storm in his head.Aria watched him carefully. He hadn't spoken since the last shot was fired, since Santiago's men had finally been silenced. The fight had been brutal, but they had won at least for now. And yet, Alejandro seemed more troubled than relieved. She took a hesitant step toward him. "Alejandro?"His shoulders tensed, but he didn’t turn around. She reached out, her fingers brushing his arm. "Talk to me."He exhaled sharply, shaking his head. "It doesn’t feel like a victory. We lost people tonight. Jace is injured. Miguel is barely standing. And Santiago, he's still out there."Aria swallowed, understanding his frustration. "But we're alive. That

The night stretched on, the scent of salt and gunpowder still thick in the air. Alejandro stood at the edge of the safe house’s balcony, his hands gripping the railing as he stared out into the darkness. His body was stiff, muscles still coiled from the fight on the boat. Every breath felt heavier than the last.Aria watched him from the doorway, the soft glow from the room behind her casting a faint halo around her figure. She could see the tension in his stance, the weight of everything pressing down on him. Quietly, she stepped forward.“You haven’t said much since we got here,” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.Alejandro didn’t turn immediately. He exhaled through his nose, his grip on the railing tightening before he finally spoke. “There’s too much to think about.”Aria moved closer, her fingers brushing against his forearm. “Then talk to me. Let me share the burden.”He glanced at her then, his dark eyes filled with conflict. For a long moment, he simply looked at

The shipyard was eerily silent now, the scent of gunpowder still lingering in the air. Alejandro stood over Santiago’s lifeless body, his gun still warm in his grip. The night breeze rustled his hair, but he barely noticed it.Aria stood beside him, her breathing steady, but Alejandro could feel the tension radiating from her. She had wanted this war to end as much as he did, but the victory felt… hollow.Jace groaned as he approached, clutching his side where blood seeped through his shirt. “I’m just going to throw this out there we’re really bad at having peaceful business deals.”Valentina smirked, tucking her gun away. “It’s the nature of the business, Jace.”Miguel knelt beside Santiago’s body, checking his pulse despite knowing it was pointless. “It’s over,” he muttered, standing up and wiping his hands. “Finally.”Alejandro turned to his team, his expression unreadable. “We haven't celebrated yet. Santiago had men, and they’ll be looking for vengeance.”Aria nodded. “We have to

The tension inside the safe house was suffocating. The air was thick with frustration, exhaustion, and the lingering scent of gunpowder. Santiago had slipped through their fingers, and everyone in the room knew what that meant. He wouldn’t run. He would retaliate.Alejandro sat at the head of the table, his jaw clenched, his fingers tapping against the wood. His mind was already calculating his next move, but there was one undeniable truth gnawing at him. They had lost an opportunity tonight.Jace was lying on the couch, his side bandaged, his face pale. The night was thick with tension as Alejandro sat at the wooden table, his fingers drumming against the surface. A single lamp flickered in the corner of the safe house, casting long shadows across the room. The air smelled of gunpowder and sweat, a reminder that they were running out of time.Santiago’s men wouldn’t stop hunting them. The ambush at the last safe house had proven that. They barely escaped with their lives. Now, they needed to strike first.Aria sat across from Alejandro, her laptop open, the glow from the screen highlighting the determined set of her face. She was running a scan, her fingers flying over the keyboard. Every keystroke was precise, calculated just like the woman herself.Jace stood by the window, gun in hand, watching the tree line for movement. “They won’t wait long,” he muttered.“They don’t have to,” Alejandro replied, his voice steady. “Because we’re hitting Santiago first.”Miguel, still looking pale from blood loss, scoffed. “You make it sound so s

Santiago wouldn’t take this attack lightly.Jace exhaled. “We need something useful from him, or we’re wasting time.”Alejandro nodded slowl
