(Lena's POV)I knew I was being followed even as I ran. I went faster, but they weren't giving up. It was like they had been waiting for me.I stopped.Turning back to them, I regretted that decision almost instantly. They weren't rogues, as I could tell from their smell, but they looked exactly like the wolves in my dream, with the same black fur and long jagged and sharp teeth, but this time they were two and not three. The wolves walked closer, intruding on my personal space. I sneered out a warning, but from the look in their eyes, they didn't take it. Just like in my dream, one of them leaped at me. I was faster. I sank my claws into it's skin. The other one joined in, digging its fangs into my skin. I let out a silent whimper. I slashed at it, getting it in the eyes. They were strong wolves, and I hadn't been prepared. I felt another slash to my back as I battled the first, and I dodged a hit from one of them.I could handle them if I were prepared; I wasn't, and I was losing fo
(Damien's POV)I had tried finding the woman, Aradia, but she had disappeared, just like how she seemed to have materialized from nowhere. I don't know what the strange woman did to Lena, but I didn't like it one bit. Yes, the nightmares had stopped, but then she was... changing, and I am not sure I liked this other part of her. She needed help, and I was ready to be there for her, but she seemed to prefer being alone more, and that wasn't helping.I know she hadn't hurt Kaden on purpose, but things had to change nevertheless. I knew when this was over, she would never forgive herself if she did harm her own child. I couldn't let her live with that kind of guilt, and so I had to take him away for the time being. Lena had chosen one of the spare rooms to sleep for the night. I didn't think I could go through the night without checking up on her.I placed Kaden on my lap as I applied the white balm to the red angry blister. I wished I did understand what really was going on. I wanted
(Natasha's POV) "Freedom. You want freedom. Where would you go, child?" "Anywhere, I could live amongst humans for all I care. I just want to be free." "Free of what?" "The bloodshed" The ghost was silent for a long time. "For every request, there is a price. Are you ready to pay the price?" He asked, and I nodded. I expected that; everything did come with a price, and I had learned that. I hadn't been quick enough to notice The Ghost take out an object from his cloak. His hand had also been fully covered with special gloves, just the same color as his coat; the object in his hands was a dart gun. I knew about this; I had seen him use it once. It was no ordinary dart gun; the darts were coated with a deadly toxin; it could incapitate a person on the spot, and it only took a minutes for the poision to spread, leading to a very painful death. I should have known; he would rather I die than get the freedom I so desperately wanted. Maybe that was the reason he came all the way here
(Natasha's POV) I climbed out of the balcony. The Ghost had said Luna was alone. Meaning she didn't sleep in the same room Damien and her son did. I found that weird, and the fact that the Ghost knew that too was also strange, but I had to trust his words. He was right. When I got to their room, I peeped into the apartment meant for the Luna and the Alpha, I noticed she was absent, but Damien wasn't asleep either; he was seated on a couch, taking a drink from a dark-colored bottle. I passed by quickly; I dare not underestimate the Alpha by lingering. I looked through other rooms, but I couldn't find her. I would have chosen to walk down the hallways, but I suspected that they were cameras, and that would only make things harder. But while climbing, I could easily avoid the cameras, as I had already noted blind spots where the cameras couldn't easily capture. Finally, I stopped. I didn't know why I believed this was the one, but I could almost perceive her scent in here. If thi
(Natasha's POV) My heart raced; I could only hope he didn't notice it. I doubted. "What do you mean?" I asked "I realized I forgot something; I returned, and just as I suspected, you weren't here. Where were you?" "I went for a run." "In the middle of the night?, just when I was away?" "So what? I can't leave the room now." "Never said you couldn't." "So what is the problem?, Are you suspecting me?" He watched me. "You are hurt, Natsha." "It's fine..." Before I was done with my statement, he had yanked me to my feet, and I let out a silent cry. "Who did this to you?" he asked, and there was a murderous look in his eyes. I never taught Diego could kill for me, but now, seeing the look in his eyes, I feel like I underestimated what this man felt for me. There was only one person who had looked at me this way, Set. I inhaled. "No one" Diego let out an annoyed growl. "So you are going to tell me that you hurt yourself?" "Yes, I hurt myself." "Oh, how about this? You fell
(Natasha's POV) "Whatever you've been searching for, I do hope you find it." Diego said "You too," I whispered. I spoke up after a moment of silence; he had still been awake. "The name of my pack is the Lake Moon Pack," I said, waiting for his reaction. Surely they wouldn't have forgotten the pack they had brought down to nothing, but there wasn't a hint of surprise in his eyes. , "Did you know about this pack?" I asked. "Yes, it had been destroyed over a decade ago." "I heard some wolves did it," I say, the bitterness rising in my voice. They couldn't have simply forgotten the pack they brought down this so easily, could they?, but then again, I had to remind myself who these people were. "Not wolves. Vampires" Everything seemed to pause. "What?" "Wolves didn't bring the pack down; vampires did; it was a brutal attack; the people were fed on till the point of death," he said. Tears welled up in my eyes. "It wasn't done by wolves? I was told that the Alpha then hadn't been
(Lena's POV)I thought I heard a sound.I rose; there was this strange feeling; it was like someone had been here-watching me sleep. I moved to the balcony, closing the door.I faintly remembered crying myself to sleep. Now I couldn't go back to sleep. I wondered how Kaden was doing—did the blister still burn?Another wave of sadness rocked through me. It was time I realized the truth, and that was that Aradia did more harm than good.I had ended up pushing away every single person who cared about me.I walked out of the room, I had to go apologise.I missed Damien; I missed him being so close, and I hated the distance I had put between us.I stopped before the door to 'our' room, hesitating, and just then the door was thrown open, and there Damien stood. I had thought he was asleep, but he didn't seem to be. His breath smelled of alcohol."Forgot something?" He asked"No, I want to talk to you.""And it can't wait till tomorrow?""Damien, please, let's talk."He pulled the door open
(Lena's POV)"You should leave...""I know about the prophecy," Nate said, cutting me off."How did you know about that?" I asked, and I noticed he seemed nervous."I might have heard when Late Luna Felicia was telling that to you—in the dungeons, I didn't mean to...""No one knows about it; you hear me, no one, and this is an order.""Why would I let this out to anyone? You helped me when I needed help, so allow me to help you," he said, passing me a piece of paper. "You will find this useful, and also, Aurora is pregnant; I just thought you should know.""What is this?""Well, you find out, and if you are finally ready to talk, then know I am only a short distance away," he said before walking away, leaving me confused.I returned to my room, placing the paper on the table. I wasn't ready to see what was written on the paper just yet. I couldn't believe Aurora was pregnant. Did she still see me as a friend?, would visiting her end up awkward?I made up my mind to stay away from Kade
