Heather POV It’s been about a week since the day in Alpha Sean’s office. Things between Dawn and Zane were much better now that they understood why Dawn was paranoid. She still had a few episodes wanting him to mark her, but Zane was able to calm her down by holding her and watching how he worded things. The small scratch that had been on the back edge of Dawn’s ear, which is why nobody noticed it. It had finally disappeared yesterday. Dawn and I have spent the day in the kitchen preparing things for the going away party for Jacob and Zane tomorrow out at the lake. Now we’re relaxing by the pool before supper. It is easy to see that Dawn is back to her old self, since she hasn’t once been in a panic about finding Zane. He'd been with Jacob all day finalizing their travel plans. “So are you going to tell me how it was?” Dawn asked as she sat up on the edge of her lounge chair. I pulled my sunglasses down my nose to peak over the tops of them. “How was what?” I asked, a little confuse
Reed POVDad turns towards us from where we had stepped to the side of the hall to allow Mac to pass. “Come on in boys,” Dad says as he waves us through the door. He sits down, puts his elbows on his desk and starts to rub his temples.“Dad, what was that all about? What’s going on? We know you’ve been stressing about something.” Lucas blunts out as soon as we’re seated.Dad gets up, grabs the bottle of whiskey from the cabinet, grabs three glasses, and sits in one of the wing-back chairs over by the fireplace. Lucas and I walked over to join him. I watch as he pours a glass for each of us, downs his and pours another before sitting back. “There has been an increase of hunter activity in Europe over the past few weeks or so, mainly in Italy, Spain and Greece.”“Spain, as in where Meg is?” I asked, starting to get worried about Meg.“Meg is in Scotland right now. She finished her program last month.”“Does Quinn know? He has been waiting so long for her to come back.” I’m starting to g
Luna Mona POV “Ok, so I’ve gone over all the information you sent me. I’d like to hear your take on it, see if I understand it the same way you are.” I said to Meg over our weekly video chat. That girl had been a Goddess, sent gift. When she first offered to go to Scotland, I wanted to tell her to come home and put poor Quinn out of his misery one way or another. The guy was falling apart. He just wanted to know for sure if Meg was his mate or not. It took some convincing on her part, but she was finally able to talk her parents, Shane and myself into letting her go. The main condition that we gave her was she needed to talk to Quinn, which she hadn’t done since she left around three years ago other than the text telling him she believed him when he said he blacked out, but she needed time. I needed her to explain to him the reason she was going and that it wasn’t because we were trying to keep them apart. I knew she wanted to get to the bottom of everything just as much as I did. It
Luna Mona POV“And what would that be?” Meg asked.“Think about it," I said, "you said that all of the past mates have either been a human or a witch. That includes Heather’s Mom. Therefore, they have been unable to mark the twins in return. If Heather is my boys’ mate, and she is able to shift, which the chances of that being very high since she is already in contact with her wolf and her father was a Beta, she will be able to mark the twins.” I can’t stop the smile that spreads across face. I can’t wait to tell Shane.“You’d almost think that something or someone made sure that Heather’s Mom got a chance to meet the right guy and have a kid with her mate.” Meg says with a chuckle. “Oh I almost forgot I have a picture that I took. It’s a spot that is on what used to be the original pack lands. I think it will explain why the elders settled the new pack where they did.” Meg says, with a smile on her face and more joy in her voice than I'd heard in way too long.“Meg?”“Yes Luna?”“I t
Reed POV “WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN MEG IS MISSING?” Mac yelled as he pinned my Dad to the wall. "You swore to me that my girl was safe. She's only there because of your damn family. She wouldn't have even run off in the first place if your asshole nephew had been able to keep himself under control. “Mac, calm down a little. We need to come up with a plan." Dad said, trying to calm Mac. I have never seen Mac ever lose his temper, but then again, can you blame him? He's scared for his little girl. Uncle Aaron put his hand on Mac’s shoulder. "Mac, that is my boy that you're talking about. You know as much as I do he would never intentionally hurt Meg. It would have been like you hurting Kelly at that age or even now. Meg went because she wants to help fix things." Mac slowly releases Dad and steps back. "I know, I know. I'm just scared." Mac says rubbing his hands over his face. "And now my girl is over there too and has no idea what she is walking into. Like Shane said we need a pl
Luna Mona POV I’ve pulled out all the information that I have about this damn curse. I have it sitting on the coffee table sorted into piles. One is everything that I have already shared with the boys and Heather. The second is everything Meg found, and the third is the stuff that talks about only having until their twenty-fourth birthday to mark their mate. That was one of the things that I didn’t point out to Meg the last time I talked to her, and I’m not sure if she caught onto it. All the previous mated twins had died within their twenty-fourth year. I’m pulled from my thoughts at the sound of the door opening. “Hey Mom what’s up,” Reed asks as he and Lucas walk in and take a seat on the couch. “What’s all this?” Lucas asks, pointing to the table. “We will get to that in a minute. First I want to tell you that I got a call today from the North America Wolf Council (NAWC). They wanted to let us know what they had decided concerning Keegan Murphy." They both lean forward waiting f
Luna Mona POV We all sat there silently staring at the picture on the table for a few minutes while the information that I just gave the boys sinks in. Reed suddenly grabs the folder of information from Meg off the table and starts skimming through the notes. He flipped back and forth between the pages, making sure he was reading things right. He looked up at me, then at Lucas, then back to the folder. I watch as a huge grin spreads across his face. He looked at Lucas again. “They couldn’t mark them back.” Lucas looks at Reed. “What?” He asks in confusion. “All the previous set of twins’ mates..." Reed says, pointing at the folder in his hand. "...were either humans or witches,” Reed states, staring at his brother waiting for it to click in. Lucas’s eyes went wide. He grabbed the folder from Reed's hand, flipping through the pages the same way his brother had. “They couldn’t fully complete...” “The bond,” Reed finishes. “But Heather...” Lucas “Has her wolf...” Reed “And as lon
Reed POV The one thing that pulled me out of the drinking that started back when we first messed up with Heather was reading that file about us all dying. It took a bit, but when I finally realized that there was a way to break the curse, I knew I had to straighten myself out and get Lucas on board with the plan. I thought that if I was good enough and could get Heather to forgive us, we could stop the curse. Now, I’m starting to have doubts again. I watch the golden brown liquid go around as I swirl it in the glass. A hand stretches in front of my face, taking the glass from my hand. “No matter what we decide, which I think, we have kind of already have, this...” Lucas gives the glass a small shake. “...is not going to fix or change anything for the good.” Closing my eyes, I let out a sigh and leaned back on the couch, locking my fingers behind my head. Knowing he’s right, I try to refocus my thoughts. Moving my hands to my lap and keeping my head on the back of the couch, I turned
