Lola and Emery started to hang the paintings that needed to be hung, slid in shelves the ones that Amery wanted to keep with her, and cleaned the dusty ones. When it was some minutes to the stipulated time, two of the people Amery invited walked into the showroom. They were offered drinks and sat to wait for other people to join in.When they were up to ten, she started by introducing herself, she said a few words that deserved applause and they clapped for her. After the introduction, the exhibition started. Everyone was allowed to move around, take pictures with the artworks and select the ones they were interested in. Emery and Lola attended well to everyone present, they negotiated prices very reasonably. About five of them got a painting for themselves before leaving. Amery was glad the opening of her art gallery turned out great, she got to meet people who had an interest in painting and she made some money too.It was late when the exhibition ended, Lola and Emery were keeping
The house was empty, Emery had never stayed alone in the house; that was the first time and she feared something might go wrong. It was getting dark, Benhail was not yet back from work, and Agnes had traveled to Dallas to attend a relative's wedding, leaving only her at home. She would have invited Lola and Amery over if she knew Benhail wouldn't come home early today.Pacing the living room, she checked through the window for Benhail's car whenever she heard a sound. She was worried, he needed Benhail to show up.She relieved herself by crouching on the couch, she tried to binge-watch a show on Netflix, but she didn't concentrate. She was worried about herself and Benhail; it was getting too late and then he wasn't back, she didn't want to call him. So she just stayed back, muttering silent prayers for him.Emery was dozing off when she heard the door creak open, she snapped her eyes open and jumped to her feet. "Benhail!" She yelled, hurrying to pull him into a mind-blowing hug.He
The same number had been beeping on her phone for weeks now; she didn't know whose number it was. The call always ended before she picked and it was never available whenever she tried to call again. She thought it was a wrong number the first time, but it seemed suspicious now that she had received four calls in different weeks from the same number."Are you ready?" Benhail asked, walking over to her side."Yeah, let me get my bag please." She smiled and left to get her back from the shelf. She quickly dialed the number again, hoping that the caller would pick up this time, but it was the same old story—unavailable. She locked the phone and sauntered back to meet Benhail, "Where are we going?" She asked him."You will see when we get there," he took her hand in his. "Do you feel good and can you feel the baby kicking yet?" He looked into her eyes.Emery grinned, wriggling her head. "I can't, but maybe soon." She assured him."Do let me know if the baby moves, please do." "Sure, I wou
Eyes down on her bag, Emery fiddled with her fingers, patiently waiting for the Doctor. He had specially called them in."Good morning, Mr. Gunther and Miss Emery," the nurse who always attended to Emery during her antenatal classes greeted them. Emery caught a glimpse of the Fetal Doppler in her hands and she immediately figured that was the instrument she'd been using on her.The Doctor walked in shortly after the Nurse, he welcomed the two of them and went to sit down."How have you been, Miss Emery?" The Doctor asked her."I have been very good," Emery responded, her voice almost losing its audibility. Her heart was in her throat, and worry mixed with tension pounced on her mind as she stared at the Doctor's blank expression.Benhail noticed she was fidgeting, he slowly moved his hand atop hers. "Hey," he said, looking into her eyes. Emery looked at him and shrugged her shoulders, "I am fine, trust me." She feigned a smile."Can you please come over to the bed?" The Nurse smiled
"I am worried about you, Ben," Emery said when the car slowed down at a traffic sign."Why?" He looked at her, hoping she hadn't figured out that he was sick."You do all these things," she said tiredly. "I am truly worried." She heaved a sigh and relaxed her back on the seat. "Take me around, do everything for me, and manage to fill in at work while I do nothing at all. I am worried."He chuckled, relieved she wasn't thinking about his illness at all. "I own the company, I can decide not to go for days. You don't have to worry about me, and who else would drive you around if I don't?" He asked her."You have a chauffeur, he can do the job." She rubbed her neck."I prefer to drive you myself, I want you to be under my watch when you are out there." He kicked the car and zoomed off when the traffic sign was clear. Emery felt special, she smiled, staring at him as he focused on the road. "Are you sick?" She suddenly asked. He slowed down again and glared at her. "Do I look sick?""You
"Thank you very much, John." Emery got down from the car and shut the door. "I will take some time here. Would you wait behind or go and I will call when I am ready to go?" She asked the chauffeur."I will be right here," the middle-aged man smiled, "the boss made me promise that I will look after you and make sure I don't leave you alone. He wouldn't have let me drive you here if he didn't have an important meeting this morning."Emery nodded her head, "I see," she said. "I will be inside, just call me if anything urgent comes up." "I will, take good care of yourself and call me too…" She turned back to look at him. "If you need me." He added, grinning.Emery smirked and left him alone. As she walked towards Amery's art gallery, she noticed some changes like there was a new and better signpost that displayed everything that was done in the studio, and displayed more of her artworks. The building had been repainted, she almost didn't recognize it and the door was changed to a stronge
Emery's eyes flickered down the restaurant, she was scrutinizing the different people who were around. She didn't know why she was doing that, in fact staring at the people's faces made them uncomfortable, but in a way, it made her feel good, at least she was getting rid of the anxiety that was building up inside of her as she'd be meeting with Benhail tonight. It was the thirtieth day of another month. She had arrived earlier than the stipulated time because she was eager to learn a new thing about him. The waiter who always took their orders came around and asked what she wanted to have. She replied by telling him to come again when Benhail was around. She glanced down at the wristwatch that was strapped on her wrist, taking note of the time, she lifted her head and a kiss landed on her cheeks. "Benhail!" She figured out with smiles all over her face. "How did you know I was here? How did you find me?" She looked around and he smiled. He drew out a chair and perched on it, "Have you
Emery set the cake she had prepared with Agnes on the dining table. She placed a small knife close to it and took some pictures before moving aside.Agnes walked in with bottles of Gunther's wine, the blue and the red. She took a good look at the decorations and nodded her head satisfactorily."He has never celebrated his birthday at home. I don't even know the day he was born, but now I know and it's all thanks to you ." Agnes smiled, patting Emery's back."Mariana spilled it, you should thank her if you want to thank someone." Emery giggled. "Will he like this?" She asked. "I am not sure about what I have done. Though it looks cute but…""There is no but. Benhail isn't the type to mock people's efforts. He would appreciate this no matter how small it is." Agnes said, giving her a reassuring smile.Emery nodded her head, hoping that he would appreciate her efforts. He had been avoiding her since that day at the restaurant, he only talked to her if he needed to know about the baby. Sh
The Shrill cry of baby Ella woke Emery from her afternoon nap. Tossing on the bed, she groaned and looked at her husband who was busy typing on the computer."Your baby is crying," Emery grumbled, attempting to get out of bed, but her eyes were still heavy. She hadn't slept overnight, baby Ella had been awake all night and she was trying her best to put her to sleep."I just gave her her food," Benhail left what he was doing, walking over to the baby's cot that was in their bedroom. They had moved the baby's cot to the bedroom immediately after Emery was put to bed, two months ago. She was against the idea of keeping her baby in a different room, so Benhail suggested they moved the cot to their room."She won't stop crying," Emery croaked."Get back to sleep, I will get her." He heaved the baby out of his cot and placed a soft kiss on her cheeks. She was tiny, and looked so much like him, exactly like him, making Emery jealous of the fact that she carried her for nine months and she c
Some months later, Emery was dressed in a white chemise, standing in front of the full-length mirror. She stared into the mirror with tears in her eyes."We will be late if you continue to cry." Amery hugged her from the back, handing her a small handkerchief to wipe away the tears that stained her cheeks."I can't believe I am getting married today," Emery gently wiped the tears from her eyes. "Still baffles me.""You should be happy, Emery. There is no reason for you to cry.""I am happy, Amy. I am very happy, and these are tears of joy." She hugged her sister, gently sobbing into her shoulder."I am happy we found happiness, we've been through so much together and we deserve every good thing that's coming our way. Your wedding is today and mine is next month." Amery patted her sister's back. "Our parents will be so proud of us wherever they are.""I wish they were here to witness this day." Emery sobbed, but Amery calmed her down. She went on her knees to feel the baby in Emery's t
"Happy birthday to us." Emery and Amery said in unison, clinking glass against glass. Cheering, they downed the content of the wine and Lola served them another round."To my favourite girls in the whole world, I wish you the very best life has to offer. I love you two so much." She raised the hem of her gown, leaning forward to kiss Emery on the cheeks, after she was done, she moved over to Amery. "Common, let's have a party." She clapped her hands as she walked to the centre of the room to tell the disc jockey to play some nice music.Amery and Emery had virtually the same thing on; the same knee-length straight gown but of different colours. Amery's was red while Emery settled for the pink one, the same pair of silver-coloured stilettos, the same makeup and their hair was done in the same style; they looked elegant and simple at the same time."Oh my, Liam is here." Amery squealed when she sighted Liam walking into the small restaurant they had rented for themselves for that evenin
Benhail was standing in front of her when she swivelled around, she smiled, walking closer to him."How long have you been here?" Emery asked, snaking her arms around him."Since you started coordinating the models." He kissed her cheeks. "You are doing well, but don't stress yourself. The baby doesn't want stress, you know right?" She nodded her head to his words. "And I brought you snacks, I feel like you need them." He handed a bag to her, she took it from him and kissed his cheeks."Thank you, I was hungry." She led him to the couch that was in the lounge. She had stopped hiding the bump since the day she made up with Benhail; she hid it before because she didn't want the words of her pregnancy to spread to him.She placed the polythene bag on the centre table that was in the lounge, she picked one from the croissants, a bit on it and moaned satisfactorily."Tastes very nice," she gave one to him but he refused to take it from her. "Why don't you want to eat with me?" She asked, f
Emery walked into the living room after Benhail dropped her. She met her sister sitting on the couch with her arms curled under her legs. She ignored her, walking into the room to meet Lola but Amery stopped her."Can we talk?" She asked Emery.Emery wanted to say no to her, but she changed her mind about that. She was on good terms with Benhail, things were good again it was because of Amery's effort to bring them back, she owed her one there."I am sorry," she started, staring into her sister's eyes. "I am sorry I went too fast even when you didn't want to. Can you forgive me?" Amery looked into her eyes, biting her lips.Emery smiled, her sister was too cute she couldn't resist her if she was being that way."I was truly worried about you, I am so sorry." She got up from the couch and walked down to sit on the sofa Emery was seated on. "You know we've always looked out for each other and got each other's back, I was just being a good sister, I didn't mean to hurt you." She took her
"Guess it won't work here," Emery drawled. "Let's go home then," he looked into her eyes. She nodded her head in support. He kissed her lips and she got down, sitting back on the car's seat.Benhail started the car, driving at a very fast speed. The bulge between his legs had grown bigger and he couldn't wait anymore, he wanted to be buried deep inside of her, kneading her, thrusting in and out of her as she screamed his name.He arrived home shortly after, Emery kissed him in the car but he pulled away. "Come in with me."She trailed behind him like a lost puppy. He gripped her arms when they got into the house, tugging her closer, he stared into her eyes. "Benhail," she gasped and placed her lips on his. It started gingerly, carefully taking her lips in his and nibbling on them, she snaked her hands around his neck and moaned into his ears. "Please take me, I want you now, Benhail.""I know you do," he ripped her dress off her body in an instant. Emery gasped, giggling after. She
The models all lined up in the same outfit of a strapless long black dress. There was a loud round of applause as they walked down the stage. Emery smiled proudly where she sat, watching them. After the show, she went to address the models. When she was done with them, she strolled outside for fresh hair when she bumped into Anide and Benhail. She was surprised to see her.Anide ran towards her and pulled her into a big hug. "You are doing well and I am so proud of you." She told her."Thank you so much, I learnt from you." She said jokingly, hugging her again. "You didn't tell me you were coming though, I would have made reservations for you." She pouted her lips, ignoring Benhail even though he was standing right in front of her."Oh, I didn't have plans of coming over. Benhail wanted me to come with him." She smiled at Benhail. "And now there is something that interests me, I will see you guys later." She smirked at them, walking towards the photographer.Emery laughed, she turned
The next morning, Emery was dressing up for work when she heard a knock at the door. Lola just left the house and she figured she was the one knocking since she had the habit of forgetting her things at home."What did you forget this time?" Emery opened the door and her eyes met with Benhail's. Her shoulders dropped, and her heart started to beat erratically. She was about to close the door but he stopped her. He grabbed her hands, pulled her inside and slammed the door shut."What are you doing here?" She asked him.His eyes met with hers when he stepped into the room, she looked away from him and repeated. "What are you doing here?""Emery, were you going to keep it away from me forever?" He inched closer to her. "Why didn't you tell me?""Tell you what? What are you talking about?" She feigned confusion. She knew he already figured out about the pregnancy, and she was sure Lola told him about it."Isn't it glaring?" His eyes ogled her body. She looked down to see that she was in
"Hey," Emery smiled at Mariana when she got to her office. "Is your boss in?" She asked."Yes, he is." Mariana stood up to hug Emery. "It's been a while.""Yes, it is," Emery responded. Mariana directed her to sit down. "How have you been and how's your work going?" "Been great!" Mariana smiled, "I heard and saw that you started your fashion brand. Really beautiful, congratulations to you, Emery." "Thank you so much, Mariana. I would have loved you to patronise us but we only deal with plus-sized women.""I heard that too, a very great idea. I am so happy for you. That has always been my dream before I became a secretary to Benhail, but I love my job more now." She fanned herself dramatically."That's cool too." Emery nodded her head. "We agreed to be friends but we don't follow each other on any social media platform. Did Benhail tell you that I have people who can publicise your brand for you?""No, he didn't." She shook her head. "You do have them?" She asked, and Mariana nodded
