136. Unworthy Wife

[The next day morning]

Abigail's pov -

The morning sun casts a gentle glow across the room, illuminating my thoughts as I sit on the edge of the bed, my heart heavy with confusion. Mick's behavior has been puzzling me for days. First, he abruptly left me alone on the balcony the night before last night, his distant eyes speaking a language I couldn't comprehend. And now, I find myself alone again, his side of the bed cold and untouched. That means he didn't come home yesterday or he left without a word, a note, or even a goodbye.

As I gaze out of the window, my fingers idly trace patterns on the bed sheets. The city bustles below, each person absorbed in their own world, yet I feel strangely disconnected from it all. My laptop sits open on the table, my latest payment for my writing gleaming on the screen. It should be a moment of triumph, of realizing my dreams and inching closer to reality, but all I can think about is Mick.
