It has been over a week that Edna and Malik have been in Rome and it has been one of the best times of their lives and they have made memories here that they will not forget in a long time. They walk in each other's arms towards the boarding pass. It doesn't matter what they are going to find when they get back home, it was a great experience in Rome. This time around there is no mix-up, they are both going to be flying first class. They have been cleared and they proceed to sit like the others, waiting for their flight to be announced so that they can leave. Edna feels pressed, so she turns to Malik. "Hey, I have to go to the bathroom, really quick. " She lets go of his hand. "Okay. " He says. He sits back and watches her leave. She walks, with hands in the pockets of her coat as she goes to the bathroom area. He decides to do something that will take his mind busy till she gets back. He scrolls through the call log, lots of calls from his assistant, and even more from his
Court day.Edna hardly slept the night before. She lays on her bed awake all night as she tries to imagine what's going to happen in the courtroom. There are going to be a lot of lies from Keith and his father, she knows this one for sure. She knows how manipulative those two men can be. This time around, they are not going to get away with it though. Edna has evidence of abuse against and even infidelity too so that means that he is going down. Malik drives her to court a few hours to court time and she is shaking so much in the car that he has to reach out to hold her hand. " You are going to be fine. " He assures her. " We have the best lawyers and a just cause. "" What if it doesn't work out?" Her voice laughs confidently. Malik chuckles and looks out of the window. " It's going to work out. " He states. " But if it doesn't, there is always another way. "She nods and wipes her hand over her face and looks carefully as Malik eases the car into the Court's parking lot. Ther
***Throwback***It was on a rainy night. It has been just three months since she got married to Keith. She hasn't recovered from the shock and she cries every night after he forces himself on her. Mister Jackson always makes sure that she comes to the office, no matter how sick she gets and she works really hard because he would nag her if she doesn't.It's on one of those days that it starts to rain heavily in the late evening, just hours before she is supposed to go home. She waits for the rain to stop, but it doesn't and soon, the darkness of night and the gloominess of the clouds grows together, making the night thicker. She doesn't know what to do, she doesn't know if she should spend the night here or shit drive herself home. It's cold in the office and without a warm bed so she decides that it's better to go through the trouble of driving back home than to spend the night here. She gets into her car, sets her bags down beside her, and starts to drive back home. Because it
Edna feels like she is a nightmare right now and she desperately wants it to come to an end. She regrets her life, she regrets the circumstances that made her say yes to marrying Keith and she regrets even going to the same school as Keith. She hates that her brother was so ill and she had to do anything to keep him alive. She hates the fact that the one person in the world who tells her that he has her on a regular basis wants to keep her married to himself for a long time. She hates that her freedom is so close that she can smell it but that she can't reach out to take it. She hates that her life is going back to what it used to be even though she has tried her best to run away from her past. She hates herself because she is going to be the one to walk up to Malik and tell him that she doesn't want to leave her abusive husband anymore. She wishes that God would strike her dead right now and end her miserable life. Edna looks at the pictures in her hands. They are copies, not
Malik lays on his bed with his hands under his head. He is staring at the ceiling with cluelessness in his eyes. His thoughts are random and haphazard, he is almost on the verge of running crazy right now. He adds a pillow under his head but he still doesn't feel comfortable. How can he get any comfort when what happened in court keeps coming back to his mind? He grabs his phone, he hasn't looked through it for days now and she knows that it might be flooding with texts from his workplace and his father too. His father doesn't care for him, it's true, but his father knows that he needs him to run the company successfully so he is probably trying to get him to go back to work easily. A knock on his door and he turns to it. " Come in, Mary. " He answers. Mary walks in with a cup of tea in her hand and she sighs sadly before walking over him with the cup in her hand. She doesn't set it down as he expects her to, instead she looks at the cup and then at him, she expects him to tak
The past week has been the worst of Edna's life. She has cried her soul out of her body and she even thought of killing herself. Now she is sitting in front of the mirror after a bath and looks at herself in the mirror. She looks strange, nothing like herself. She used to be miserable, it's totally normal, but it's so different this time around. Her eyes are so red from crying that that's how they have been for so long now. She is running a temperature and her head seems to want to split into two with an ax. She grabs her face cream and squirts some of it on her hand and rubs it into smoothness. She starts to slowly apply it over her face in circular motion. She is staring into her reflection and waiting for the gray gloominess to go away magically with the aid of the cream if it doesn't happen. All she gets is this extra oiliness on her face that outlines all the sadness on her face, her dark spots from sleepless nights, and the impact of Keith's blows. She clenches her teeth
It sounds like something from a bad dream, but when Edna wakes up with her head being held in her hands she realizes that it's not a dream, someone is banging on the door of the room as if wanting to uproot. Her insecurity can't make her go off to bed with the door unlocked, not after everything that she has been through. " Edna! " Keith roars. " Open the fucking door if you don't want to die. "Of course, it's Keith. It was past midnight and she didn't think that he was interested in coming back home today. She unlocks the door and he grabs her by the throat and pushes her back till she falls on the bed. He saddles her and grabs her hair too. Apart from muffled grunts of pain, she doesn't react. " You think you are Crazy, don't you?" He slams her. " You think that you have grown so much that you can tell my father what you would do and what you want? We own you. "Mister Jackson probably told him that she has refused to go back to work and that she has refused to do the intervie
Edna only starts to cry when she gets back into the car and slams the door shut. Her shoulders shake and her hands tighten around the wheel till they turn white. Her face wrinkles up as the sobs leave her mouth heavily, she doesn't know why she is crying so much. She isn't even supposed to be having sex with the guy because she is supposed to be married to his brother but here she is crying her heart out. She holds her hand over her mouth and wipes the tears, but they just keep coming back. She hates her life, she hates that she is jealous that Malik had sex with that perfect Lawyer and that she feels so bad right now. She grabs her phone and dials Malik's number before she can even stop herself. The phone rings, but as usual, he doesn't pick up. She keeps calling him nonstop for almost fifteen minutes without even stopping and he still doesn't pick up. He is very determined to cut her off from his life, isn't he? She drops her phone and pushes her hair back as she thinks. Sh
