Chapter 5: A Glitch?

~KIERA at present~

"Argh!" As I swim to nowhere, I groaned. I didn't look back anymore, I don't wanna see my tail no more. If I still have it.

How long have I been swimming? That, I don't know. But this hella place is so annoying! Why is it vast?! Why is it extended?!

Maybe it isn't large nor long, have I been swimming around?

Nope! That can't be, I can't be lost here.

My instincts told me the way is just ahead. It's probably long. I must swim fast, I don't know how long I can handle the acidity in here.

And I don't know how thin did I become. Will I even make it?

Sigh... 

Why did I even trying here?

Ahh... The promise... 

Was it worth it?

I shook my head. "Yes! It is worth it! Just once is enough! At least I tried!" 

I swim faster than before. I must keep that promise! It's the only thing keeping me alive in that prison called home!

And it's the only thing keeping me here!

Now that I remember, how did I open the door through here?

I have no regrets nor other strong emotions.

Or am I just being in-denial?

I don't know how long did I swim, however, I can finally see the end! Though it's a little far from where I am but as long as I see it, there's hope!

Oh wait, hope sucks, let's not get excited.

~KIERA at nine years old when she was still alive~

"Angel, let's eat!" I prepared the scrambled egg that I cooked for the first time and let her taste it.

I was proud of it as it looks fine than what I thought it would be.

I've been Angel's babysitter for days now after she and her mother moved with us.

At first, it was like a hell. Angel couldn't part ways with her mother so when her mother goes to work with my mom, she would always cry.

Her mother would leave when she was asleep. Hence, every time she woke up, I have to deal with her.

She would go out of the house and cry outside in the gate calling her mother. I don't know what to do but only cry and ask her to go back.

But she wouldn't listen, so we stayed outside for hours until she tires out and feels hungry. I constantly feel embarrassed when we are outside doing like that... especially to our neighbors.

I beg my mother to help me the first night she comes home after I babysit Angel. I know she was busy but what am I suppose to do! I'm also a kid too! Just four years older than her!

However, mom tells me to deal with it on my own. I tried but still couldn't.

On the third day, I couldn't take it anymore but instead of begging my mom, I asked her what to do instead.

She told me to be strict.

And I did.

On the fourth day, I locked all the doors especially the lock Angel couldn't reach.

She cried asking for me to open the door. I shouted with tears in my eyes as I said no! She was taken aback and I kept shouting what she would do and what would happen if I let her do what she wants.

And what would happen if two kids stayed outside. I shouted everything I could say, showing her my superiority, showing her I am the boss.

However, my eyes lied. I was crying while I shout because I didn't want to shout at her but instead play with her. 

Fortunately, Angel calm down and obeyed. After that, we stayed at home with locked doors, I slowly show her what are the good things inside the home.

We played house inside the house, using a blanket while we watch. I created toys and showed her how to make paper dolls.

We were doing great together alone in this apartment. And when her mother leaves in the morning, she finally kissed her goodbye without crying as she enjoys playtime at home, with me.

Sometimes our mom brought us to their workplace for a change. There is no school as it's vacation, hence I can be a full-time babysitter slash playmate.

Right now, we were alone again at home but that's okay.

Until Angel didn't want to eat the scrambled egg. I was stunned, I cried, I tried my very best so why is she picky?! I shouted at her asking why.

She didn't answer and just looked at me. So I tested it and it was too salty! I cried more. I wasted egg! That was five eggs! Mom worked hard for it now I had to throw.

That five eggs could last us for at least days. Why was I so proud I could do it the first time? 

I wanted to eat it not to waste it but my tongue couldn't handle it. So I opened a can good for our lunch and apologize to my mom in my mind.

I couldn't tell her about this, she would be sad that I wasted food.

I caressed Angel's head as an act of apologizing as I shouted at her. My pride didn't let me say the word so I did it with my action.

After that, I washed the dishes and played with Angel while we watch.

~ENCHATRIX STADIUM at present~

"Hmm, this is weird." Didi was checking a player's stats.

Faya took notice of him, "What is it?" She was worried, did something happened?

"Well, I checked this Kiera on the request vote, and it was weird." He replied.

When they heard what he said, everyone's eyes followed him.

Seeing them with curiosity, Didi explained. "Well, before she died, she was excited. When she saw her body dead, her soul was calm as water. It was like she was ready to die and embraced her death with open eyes."

V's eyebrows knitted, "Doesn't that mean a peaceful death?"

Virus stared at them with eyes wide open, "Then why is she here?!"

"I also wondered," Didi wondered, "So I checked her stats and there was this weird part."

Everyone looked at him waiting for more than they almost forgot to breathe.

Didi then showed them Kiera's stats and explained. "Her intelligence is average but her mental strength is higher. That's a good thing. But..."

"Looking at her emotional stats, it says..."

Everyone was stunned as looking at her stats. This is the first time seeing stats like this.

"Error..." They mumbled together.

V took over and checked her heart stats...

"AUTHORIZED SOUL ONLY IS ALLOWED TO OPEN," It says...

"Huh? I've never heard anything like this! Is she a glitch?" Faya couldn't sit anymore and stood up as she slams the table.

"Now that's what I call a heart like a rock!" Virus grinned.

Ivy chuckled and asked Virus for a high-five, which he gave. "Nice one Virus!"

Faya clicked her tongue, "This is no time for that! Geez, there's a glitch here! She must be a disaster!"

Ivy rolled her eyes and sneered, "Geez, with a judgemental thought like that, I wonder if you are really in the right department? Ms. Always female lead?"

Faya was taken aback. From the moment she came here, she was the best in her department whichever job her player would choose. Hearing Ivy said, hurt her pride.

"I'm just worried something might happen if we let an unknown soul in." 

"Hm-mm, and here I thought chances to prove was a good thing especially in your department. What was it called again?" Ivy said with a mocking tone.

"I'm not sure but it's something to do with changes, like what fairy godmothers do? Or don't judge the book by its stats?" Virus answered.

"Alright! Enough with that. Kiera isn't the only player here. As for that error, let's report it to the Enchantress." V stopped their bickering and made them continue their tasks.

As they sent the report, the request vote pops up again.

Everyone stared at it then went back to work. Just because she might be glitch doesn't mean the voting system can stop.

However, Faya didn't like it. "What the heck? Ivy, did you vote?!"

"Yeah, duh! But there are two votes, what? You think there's two Ivy here?" She rolled her eyes.

Faya then glared at Virus. Virus's left brow went up, "I asked that request, stupid."

Feeling embarrassed about what he said, she shuts her mouth and can only groan. For some reason, she didn't like that player. Like she was afraid something will change because of her.

No, she was afraid of the changes she can make.

She had been in this job, her instincts never lie. That Kiera can change what's not supposed to change. And she didn't know what are those.... yet.

On the other hand, Didi didn't get the chance to tell them it was him who voted. And he wanted to become Kiera's system as she looks interesting, hence he added a job called bridge for his department. Hoping Kiera would end up in their department.

While Ivy added the breaker, as she thought that Kiera is breaking their systems. Especially Faya's system. It was fun!
