~The next morning~Opening his eyes, Arthur felt Anita’s arms cuddling around him. He looked at her face and saw she was still fast asleep. The swollen marks on her face were now flat, but they were still pretty red. ‘Why would a man lay his hand on a woman?’ Arthur wondered in anger and disgust. He needed Anita to tell him what really happened so that he could deal with the motherf**ker who kept maltreating her. He slowly and carefully reached for her hand, moving it away from his chest. He placed her hand on the bed as he moved away from her. He got out of bed and looked back at her. He succeeded in not waking her up. He couldn’t believe he could sleep with her in the same bed after so many years of hating her. ‘Does this mean I want her again?’ Arthur questioned himself as he made his way out of the guest room. ‘No, I don’t want her. I just care about her. And we have a common enemy and that happens to be the man that came into my office to threaten me.’ He convinced himself.
Getting to the living room, Anita slowly settled on the couch as she could still feel mild discomfort in her body. “How are you feeling now?” Arthur asked, sitting on the couch adjacent to the one she sat on. “I’m much better. All thanks to you.” She answered with a wide smile. Arthur bobbed, letting out a soft smile too. “I’m glad you are feeling better.” He responded. Nodding to his response, she stared at him speechlessly, her smile slowly fading off as every second passed by. “Are you going to at least tell me what happened?” Arthur asked. Anita let out a loud sigh and lowered her head. She began to fiddle her fingers as she nodded slowly. “Last night, we had a fight…” “We? You and who? The man that came to threaten me in my office?” Arthur asked with great enthusiasm. He couldn’t wait to bring him down. “Yes. We had an argument about you, actually. The other night you dropped me at the house, he saw you from the window. He had warned me to stop seeing you, but I didn’t l
“Aurora?” Arthur called in surprise, disengaging from Anita’s hug and standing up. Anita looked back and saw Aurora staring at her with a stern look, but she kept on a feeble smile. “Hi, Aurora. You’re here.” Anita uttered, holding onto the couch firmly as she stood up. “I… I came for the boys. I didn’t… mean to interrupt,”Aurora stuttered, looking away as she walked past them to the boys’ room. Getting to the front of their door, she felt the back of her eyes heat up. Tightening her jaws, she put on a fake grin and opened their door. “Surprise!” She uttered, causing the boys to look at her. “Mummy!” They all chorused in excitement and ran towards her. She lowered herself to the ground so they could embrace her. “I thought you were joking when you said you’d see us soon. You really came.” Ryan uttered in excitement, and she chuckled, nodding her head. “I wouldn’t hurt your feelings by lying about such a thing. I’ve missed you all so much!” She responded, embracing them tightl
“Aurora, Hi! I will be returning to Derick’s house today. And this time, I would fight for our love. No going back. I’m going to get married to him whether his parents or Brenda wants it or not.” After sending the text, Carter hopped into Derick’s car excitedly. He was happy and unsure at the same time. He was going to meet Brenda the second time after their first meeting and he wasn’t sure how it was going to go. Derick noticed Carter was deep in thought as they hit the road, so he tried to assure him. “Carter, trust me. We are going to sort this out. Don’t think too much about it.” He rubbed his hand on Carter’s thighs as he drove. “Your son would be home too, right?” Carter answered, and he nodded. “Yes.” “Don’t you think he wouldn’t like the idea of you chasing his mother out of the house? He would want to go with his mum.” “Honestly, Carter, I don’t know what I’m going to do about him but I know I don’t want to lose him. We now have a son.” “Yes, sure. I just don’t know w
Anita whistled and danced sexily in her nightgown as she prepared dinner for Arthur. She refused to stop pestering Theo until he gave her a meal she could work with. She started making Chicken and chips as she waited for him to come back home. Her health was getting better and she believed it was time for her to move forward. ‘He cares about me, now it’s time to make sure he loves me and can’t do without me.’ She thought to herself, a little smirk crept on her face as she watched the chicken roast. She loved that Aurora had to go away furious after she found her there. ‘At least, now she knows who owns him.’ She muttered happily. While she cooked, Ryan and Riley walked into the kitchen to get a bottle of water, and then they saw her. With an unfazed look, they ignored her and proceeded to the fridge to help themselves out. “Hi, boys! How are you tonight?” She asked with a wide grin as she approached them. They still ignored her as Ryan got his hand on the bottle of water and shut
Jack couldn’t help but worry after Aurora refused to show up at the restaurant for two days consecutively without telling him anything about it. He worried that he was the reason why she wanted to stay away, because of what he tried to do to her in the elevator. He regretted his actions and wished he could reverse time so he never did it. Throughout his time at the restaurant, he could hardly and then finally decided that he’d go to her apartment. ‘I’ll apologize and promise her that it will never happen again.’ He said to himself. After finishing at the restaurant, he headed up and straight to Aurora’s apartment. He let out a deep sigh as he went ahead to knock on her door. In nervousness, he waited for her to answer the door. After a short while, he heard her behind the door. The door unlocked and when she opened up, his gaze fell on her face. “Aurora. Hi.” He called softly, putting on a smile. “Hi, Jack,” Aurora answered with a feeble smile, her facial expression being a sad
It was the weekend and Arthur was home with the boys. Ryan shouldn’t stop pressuring him about playing a game with them, which he eventually agreed to. While they were in the room, playing the game, Anita stood at the door and watched them with a large smile on her face. ‘I just need a few more weeks and I’ll be able to join them in playing. It will be like I am their mother.’ She fantasized, still staring at them. Ryan looked back and saw that Anita was staring at them. Arthur’s back was turned against the door, so he didn’t see her there. Ryan quickly gave an eye signal to Riley and Rowan and they nodded. All of a sudden, Ryan yelled, “See Daddy! She’s looking at us that same way again! I told you she hates us!” Ryan yelled, pointing to Anita who was not only confused but dumbfounded. Arthur looked back and saw Anita standing at the door. “Anita, what did you do this time?” He asked, standing to his feet. “What?! I didn’t do anything!” She defended herself. “She did somethin
After finishing with the boys, Arthur headed to his room and lay on the bed. He remembered what his boys told him about their birthday party and decided to reach out to Aurora. He called her and waited patiently for her to pick up. She didn’t answer the phone the first time, so he tried again. She finally answered and Arthur swallowed hard before speaking up. “Aurora?” He called, and his voice was followed by a soft moan from the other end. “Arthur?” Aurora groaned, her head buried in her bedsheets. “Are you alright?” Aurora worriedly lifted his upper body from the bed like it was going to make him hear her clearer. “You sound so tired. Are you just waking up?” He asked, looking up at the wall clock in his room. ‘It’s 1 pm. She can’t be just waking up.’ He said to himself. “I am just waking up,” Aurora mumbled, and then for the first time, checked her phone. Her tired and thin eyes widened as she saw it was noon already. “1 pm?” She exclaimed, and immediately, a groan of pain
