I looked around the corner, checking for my mates.  I didn’t see any sign of them so I slipped down the hall and into the kitchen.  Joanna was at the counter, chopping vegetables for our lunch salad.

“Joanna, I’m dying for a donut,” I groaned.  “Please tell me you have some stashed somewhere around here.”
