Chapter 172

IZZY POV

Caleb gave me a kiss on the forehead.  “Goddess speed,” he whispered, and then he turned back to his radio, headset and computer screen.  The battle had already started.

Griz and I ran across the tarmac and climbed into the helicopter.  The pilot looked back at us.  “Ready?” he asked.  I nodded and the aircraft lifted with a sickening lurch.  I held on and snuck a glance at Griz.  He looked determined, which was the look he generally had. 

We didn’t talk.  We knew what the plan was, and we knew that we would get it done.  I was told that Cornelius had the house built the same way the home he had me imprisoned in, so the floorplan was familiar, kind of.  It had been twelve and a half years since I was taken captive.
