Chapter 5

A week later

Neah rolled anxiously on the bed, her thoughts pondered on the conversation she had eavesdropped from the living room earlier.

After the scene with Damon when Alexander, the triplets father had accidentally caught them in the act of the heated romance, Damon seemed to have left the house to avoid her which left her confused.

For a week, Neah's thought revolved around her attraction for the three males especially Damon, she had gone down for breakfast when she heard Hannah's conversation with Alexander

" Damon is more affected by her presence Hannah, I don't want anything coming in between his duties and his affection for his stepsister" Alexander said, frustration laced through his voice.

"Alex, what do you suggest, I can't probably send her away, she's my daughter and I love her just like you love your son's" Hannah briefed, her voice weary and pleading.

Daughter? What the hell was she talking about?

Neah was shocked at the revelation, the realization dawned on her why she looked so much like the woman.

But then, if Hannah was her real mom, what about the one that raised her?

Neah's head whooshed in confusion, her heart raced with anxiety.

" In three days time, she'll resume schooling in the academy, I think that would make things easier a bit, for now she stays here Alex" Hannah said and turned to walk out and just immediately, Neah had rushed back to her room to avoid getting caught.

Neah's eyes got wet, but she forced them back instantly.

What was the use of crying? Would it make any difference?

But the thought of the mere fact that her whole life seemed to be a lie scared her.

Her memories drifted back to Crimson Moon pack.

Were they all dead? What about Mia and her Mom?

Throughout Neah's childhood, she couldn't deny the fact that her mom had been a different person.

Sometimes, she fed Neah a strange liquid every morning which would put Neah in a deep slumber and sometimes she hit Neah with the excuse of training her to become a powerful Luna.

Neah never enjoyed her childhood, she had no friends and never usually stepped out of the pack house.

Neah had confronted her Mom about it but Neah got starved each time she brought it up yet despite all these, Neah loved her Mom. Neah thought that her Mom was giving her basic training but all that right now felt like it had been a lie.

A knock came on the door, snapping Neah out of her trance as she jolted up and arranged her dress, then walked towards the door and unlocked it.

Damian stood at the door, staring at Neah, his thoughts skeptical about ushering himself inside or waiting for her reply.

" Are you okay Neah?" He asked, noticing the tiny flecks of tears in her hazel orbs, the sight disturbed him and he wondered if something had happened to her.

"I'm- I'm fine, wanna come in?" Neah asked, widening the door and trying to hide her discomfort to Damian who nodded slightly and walked in.

Neah shut the door and turned to face him, her conscience stricken with guilt about her actions " I'm- I'm sorry about the other day, I mean for---"

" It's alright Neah, I wasn't expecting any less besides, we're family now and I apologize for what happened" Damian asserted, his eyes fixed on Neah's chest, Neah traced down his gaze and realized that he was staring at her boobs.

Neah gulped down, nervousness etching in her features as she cleared her throat " Umm can I ask a question?" Neah pondered, her mind swirling with different unanswered questions. Neah already connected the missing dots and was eager to know more about it but strangely, her thoughts were occupied with just one thing which surprised her as well, she had become restless due to the absence of Damon.

Neah didn't understand why she felt that- this was someone she should loathe but here she was, caring about his whereabouts.

"Of course Neah" Damian replied, curious about what she wanted to know.

" Is your brother okay, I mean Damon, he must be busy but- but, fuck! " Neah yelled out in frustration, she couldn't muster the courage to complete her question and Damian smiled at her.

Neah was one tough female!

"If it's about my brother, Damon is okay, as you know, he's the first ruler and much busier than I am, he must probably be in the academy" Damian replied, standing up at the same time to leave, he had received a message from his father through a mindlink about Lycan-rogues in the border.

"I'll be leaving now Neah, stay here and don't go out" He stated firmly and walked out.

****

Hours later, Neah walked out of the room to the kitchen, she felt thirsty as Damian's words kept ringing in her head " Stay here and don't go out!"

The warning felt deep, like something was wrong outside.

She didn't understand the reason for the warning but Neah had felt the goosebumps not like she was planning on going out.

Neah walked down the stairs and found the kitchen and stealthily, she opened the door. Strangely, the kitchen was pitch black and her heart began thumping faster than usual as her eyes scanned the whole place, searching for the wall light.

Her mind palpated with fear as her hands sliced the counter to grab anything as a defense. Neah had reached a moment in her life where she wouldn't take chances in defending herself against any danger, even without a wolf, Neah was tough and had been trained in martial arts. The punishments she received from her Mom in Crimson Moon pack added to her fierceness.

Ding! Something fell on the floor and just then, Neah felt the presence of someone behind her and immediately,  her back was pressed against the kitchen counter.
