In the Midst of Battle: Chapter 1 - Bhakti

I accept my graded biology test from Ms. Pickett, flashing her a smile. That smile freezes and falters when I see my grade. An A-. I look at the test, my brow furrowing.

“Bhakti, it’s still an A. No one is perfect. You did great, and you should be proud of yourself.” Ms. Pickett gives me a smile, but her eyes show her worry as to how I’m going to take this. She knows how important my grades are to me. She knows that my anxiety takes over.

I had a major panic attack at the beginning of the semester when I had difficulties with an essay about cell specialization. I just didn’t understand the material.
