Chapter Forty-Five: Zebra Mask

"For fucks sake."

I whisper the curse and pull out of his arms, only for him to tug me back.

“Elizabeth!”

“Is that all you can say when I’m talking to you? Christopher, I am reaching out, so please help me understand you.”

His eyes seem to waver, but the rest of his body remains cold and distant.

A car horn draws us out of the tense mood, and using the hand he held, he tugs me towards his car.

“Hey! Christopher!”

“We are causing traffic, let's go.”

His hold on me tightens the more I fight him, so rather than continue, I let him tug me and literally toss me into the passenger seat.

Before I can so much as get a word out on how I do not appreciate his behaviour, he slams the door in my face.

"That fucking psychopath."

I mutter as I scratch my scalp frustratedly and throw my body in the car seat.

The moment he joins me in the driver’s seat, I glare at him.

“Since when do you care if there is a car hooting at us from behind?”

“It’s not good to cause traffic.”
