CADE’S POV

Stephanie appeared beside me, her voice dripping with malice. "I see you're alone. I thought Emily would be here, groveling at your feet, desperate for your love."

Her words hung in the air, awaiting a response. When I remained silent, she pressed on.

"I made it clear to her," I said, my tone icy. "Emily has pride. She won't beg."

Stephanie's eyes flashed with indignation. "So, you're implying I have no pride? That begging you to love me back a year ago was degrading?"

Her voice trembled, the hurt and anger beneath the surface threatening to erupt.

"Is that what you think of me, Cade?" she asked, her words laced with venom.

"I didn't mean it that way, Stephanie," I said, my words faltering as I sought to rectify the misunderstanding.

Stephanie's gaze narrowed, her eyes flashing with a mix of sadness and triumph. "Well, I'm glad you didn't," she retorted, her voice laced with the weight of unshed tears and a hint of vindication. "And I'm even more glad that I've fin

I asked, my curiosity piqued, as I pointed to the photograph in the maid's hands."It's the pictures of the past workers of the resort," one of the maids replied, a gentle smile on her face."Past workers?"
