SYLVIA'S POV

"So that's a rose," Isabel started, waving the tiny pink box in front of my face. "It has instructions, and you can watch tutorials on YouTube." She winked like this was the most normal conversation in the world.

I swallowed hard, my face heating up as she reached for two more boxes and held them up with a smirk.

"Black or white dildo?"

My mouth went dry. I could not believe this was happening.

I glanced from one to the other, my hands itching to snatch them away and throw them into the abyss where no one would ever see them again.

"I’ll go with the white one," I muttered, barely above a whisper. "Mario’s white."

As soon as the words left my mouth, I mentally slapped myself. Did I really just say that?

Isabel let out a sharp bark of laughter.

"Oh my God Sylvia! You did not just say that."

I refused to meet her eyes as I grabbed the box and shoved it into my jacket like I was committing a crime.

"The staff will think you're stealing if you hold it like that," she nudged m

SYLVIA'S POVBy the time we got home, it was already past 4 p.m. Shopping bags rustled in our hands as we walked in, exhaustion sinking into my bones. Isabel, of course, still had energy to spare. We tried on some of the outfits again, laughing at the ones that felt too extra and admiring the ones that made us look like we belonged on the cover of a magazine. It wasn’t until around 8 p.m. that she finally left, leaving me alone in the quiet house. The silence was heavier than I expected.I took my time in the shower, letting the warm water relax my muscles. When I stepped out, I grabbed a random pair of pajamas from the pile of new clothes but hesitated. My eyes drifted to the neatly arranged lingerie set, all still fresh with their tags. Before I could stop myself, I reached for the sheer lavender one.The material was soft on my skin as I slipped it on. Standing in front of the mirror, I ran my fingers along the edges, my breath catching slightly as I noticed how it barely concealed

SYLVIA'S POVI woke up feeling giddy. It was ridiculous, but I couldn’t help it.Stretching lazily, I reached for my phone and checked the time, and it was past 7 a.m. I had to get up. But my eyes flickered to my last conversation with Mario, and heat crept up my neck."Better not be late to work tomorrow. I might punish you."I bit my lip, shaking my head. He was dangerous. The kind of man who could mess with my head and body without even touching me.Forcing myself out of bed, I took a quick cold shower to clear my mind. My fingers hesitated on my skin, remembering last night and how I'd almost used the sex toys, but I pushed the thought away.I dried off and walked into my closet, already knowing what I was going to wear. Isabel had picked it out last night before leaving; a black satin blouse with a deep V that hinted at cleavage and a pencil skirt that hugged every curve. It was sleek, professional, but sexy, exactly what Isabel had intended."If you’re going to be the wife and P

Sylvia POV I was locked in combat with the woman, my fingers tangled in her hair, pulling as hard as I could. She struggled beneath me, her hands pushing at my chest in a desperate attempt to throw me off. But I wasn’t going anywhere.“Got something to say?” I sneered, my breath quick and uneven. “Go on. Say it.”I landed a punch, harder than I intended, but the satisfaction that came from it was short-lived. That's when I heard it; laughter. I froze, my body stiffening. I slowly turned my head and saw her. Another woman, standing by the door with her phone, videoing, a smug grin plastered on her face. It hit me in an instant: this whole thing was a setup.I had fallen for it.The woman on the floor stopped fighting for a moment, her bloodied lips curling into a grin as she glanced at her partner. The realization sank in, this was a bait for some juicy story drama. They’d planned this. I had been played.I stood up, pulling the woman’s hair one last time and punching her in the stoma

SYLVIA'S POV The next two days went by in a blur. I ordered takeout, rotted away on the couch, my phone switched off, my eyes glued to the TV news channel, drowning in the endless cycle of my own destruction. When I wasn’t watching TV, I was reading every article I could find about myself. The internet had no mercy. Insults, mockery, people tearing me apart piece by piece, all of it made worse by the fact that I knew they were right. I had become the joke of the week, the woman who had lost control in the most public way possible.By the third day, Isabel had come by. She knocked on the door for nearly an hour, her voice getting more frantic with each passing minute. But I stayed silent.“I know you’re in there, Sylvia. Just reply, at least let me know you’re okay. Pick up the phone!” But I stayed quiet. I couldn't face anyone, not even her.On day four, things took another turn. The 5 o’clock news was on when everything went downhill again. I was curled up in a blanket on the couch,

Sylvia POVAfter a 15-minute drive, we arrived at the station, and I was immediately led into a small, cold interrogation room.“Do you want to tell us about what happened?” the detective asked, his tone calm, but his eyes were sharp and studying me, watching every tiny movement.“No. I would like to have a lawyer present first,” I said, keeping my voice even.He stared harder, like he was trying to get under my skin, trying to make me crack. But I didn’t flinch.“We’re only asking questions, that’s all,” he pressed.“I still want my lawyer,” I replied, firm.He exhaled slowly. “Okay then, do you have a lawyer you want to call?”“No,” I said. “I’ll wait for a public defender to be assigned.”“You’re sure you don’t want to call your husband?” he asked again, leaning slightly forward like the question might hit differently this time.“No.”He nodded, tight-lipped. “Alright. Then we’ll have to check you in as an inmate until we can get someone assigned. It might take a day or two.”I shr

Sylvia POV"Is this really a good idea?" I asked for the umpteenth time as we stepped out of the black limousine and headed toward the private jet. And of course, just as I was thinking it couldn’t get worse, there they were, two reporters, chasing after us like paparazzi on a mission."Mr. Mario Salvatore, are you fleeing with your wife?" they asked, almost in perfect unison.Mario stopped in his tracks, staring them down. I swear, the way he looked at them made the reporters flinch, and I couldn’t help but notice how effortlessly he did it. He had that effect on people."If we were fleeing, trust me, you wouldn't know. Now, run along before I have you arrested for trespassing," Mario said, his voice calm but with a dangerous edge. The reporters didn’t hesitate for a second. They scrambled away, cameras in hand, and I swear I saw them look over their shoulders like they were trying to escape a wild animal. Mario turned back to me with a playful smirk."Do you think I’m scary?" he ask

Sylvia POVAt some point during the flight, I must've dozed off. When I stirred, I felt a presence leaning over me. It was Mario."I thought I’d have to carry you off the plane," he said with a soft chuckle, like the heavy moment we’d shared earlier had never happened, like he had not walked off on me.I didn’t say anything. Just sat up and stood, brushing past him quietly. We got off the plane, and someone gestured me toward a waiting car. Just before I stepped in, Mario walked up to me."I can’t come with you right now," he said, tone calm and collected. "I need to take care of a few things. I should be at the lake house in an hour or two."I nodded, giving a small shrug like it didn’t matter, even though I wanted to break down and ask why he kept on switching up on me.The car pulled away and the ride was quiet, the kind of silence that made you think too much. After nearly an hour, we turned onto a quieter road lined with beautiful lake houses. Most looked empty—probably because i

If you were going to be so busy, why didn’t you just let me stay back in New York instead of dragging me out here, into the middle of nowhere to be bored out of my mind?”Mario sighed, already looking tired. “You needed a break from all that chaos.”“If I wanted a break and a solo vacation, I would’ve picked somewhere with palm trees and cocktails, not this lake house where the only highlight of my day will be waving at the neighbor.” I folded my arms tightly, my voice sharper than I intended. “You’re either coming upstairs with me or I’m walking right out that door.”There was a pause. Then another long sigh from him before he finally gave in, taking my hand and walking toward the stairs.“You’re so

SYLVIA'S POVThat same day, Mario made an offer on the apartment. After some back and forth, they finally settled on a price. We were told it would take two business days to get everything processed, so the lawyers could meet and set the deal fully in motion.“I still can’t believe we’re moving,” I turned to Mario, barely able to contain the excitement buzzing through me. “Who’s going to pick the colors for the furniture? Or the curtains? Or the kitchen theme?”“You are,” Mario said simply, flashing me a boyish grin. “It’s your house. I’m just going to be Ken while you’re Barbie.”I laughed, rolling my eyes. “That’s a dangerous amount of power you’re handing me.”“I’ll drop my interior decor contact with strict instructions that you’re in charge,” he added, taking my hand. “That okay with you?”“It would be perfect,” I smiled, leaning over to press a quick kiss to his cheek.“Careful,” he chuckled. “You trying to get us into an accident?”When we got back to the house, it was quiet. Mario's POV Sylvia’s eyes were as wide as saucers as she turned to me. “You’re getting a normal apartment?”“You are,” I corrected, beaming. She basically jumped in her seat before scrambling onto my lap, throwing her arms around my neck and planting a kiss right on my lips.“You’re really going to do this for us?” she asked, voice breaking slightly, and my heart swelled at the way she said us, not me. She didn’t even seem to realize it, but I did. She saw a future here. With me.She kissed me again, a little softer this time, before leaning backward, her head resting on the steering wheel like her thoughts had suddenly taken off in a hundred directions.“You know I’ve never made out in a car,” she said absently, then slapped her hand over her mouth like she hadn’t meant to say it out loud.I raised an eyebrow, smirking. “We can change that.” I adjusted the seat slightly to lean back, throwing her a playful look. “There’s a first time for everything.”She rolled her eyes but laughed.

Mario’s POV“Would you be free tomorrow?” I asked as we drove home, glancing briefly at the passenger seat.Sylvia turned to look at me with a scrunched-up nose. “It’s not like I have anything to do. I feel like an old housewife.” She scoffed, then let out a long breath and shrugged. “Why? What’s going on tomorrow?”I hesitated. Honestly, I didn’t have anything specific planned, I just wanted to spend time with her, do something that didn’t feel like damage control for once.“I was just thinking…” I kept my eyes on the road, “What do you like to do? Like, what’s your dream job?”She blinked, caught off guard. “Dream job?” She repeated, leaning her head against the headrest. “That depends. You mean something I really love or something that makes money?”“Something you really love,” I said. “Let’s pretend money isn’t an issue, cause it clearly isn't.”“Oh right, I forgot,” she deadpanned with a mock gasp. “I have a rich husband my mom basically sold me off to.” She covered her mouth lik

SYLVIA'S POVI was still caught off guard by Mario’s earlier words about transferring houses, what kind of man just throws that into casual conversation? But before I could say a word, the lawyer cleared his throat again.I leaned toward Mario and muttered, “Can we talk about this later?”He gave me one of those infuriatingly small grins before straightening, his jaw tightening as he turned back to the room. Business mode: activated. The lead lawyer adjusted his glasses and folded his hands on the table. “Let’s begin. The purpose of this meeting is to negotiate a settlement regarding the incident involving Mrs Sylvia and Miss Tina, which, as you all know, has gone viral and caused significant media attention, and police attention.”I shifted in my seat, trying not to roll my eyes when I looked across the table at her. Tina legs were crossed, nails perfect, wearing a snug grin. She gave me a thin smile. Her lawyer, young, too slick, cleared his throat. “My client is prepared to drop al

SYLVIA'S POVAfter a long back and forth with Mario’s mom and the doctors, we were finally cleared to go home. We were given a list of instructions and warnings, a lot of dos and don'ts that I'm sure Regina zoned out of, at some point. Regina was also given a handful of prescriptions the doctors said would help manage the pain and slow down the cancer. The drive home was quiet for the most part. Regina spoke now and then, random, lighthearted things mostly. I think she was trying to fill the silence, or maybe convince herself everything was now normal. When we finally got back to the house, Mario turned to me. “Go change. We have to meet with my lawyer about the staff issue, you know, the fight.”“God,” I muttered, dragging my feet toward the stairs. “I almost forgot about that. Feels like it happened forever ago.”“It really does,” he agreed, following behind me as we entered the room.I pulled off my shoes and glanced at him. “How much jail time do you think I’d get?” I asked in a

Sylvia's POVThe thirty minutes dragged by like hours. Mario didn’t sit down again. He just kept pacing, back and forth across the waiting room like he was trying to outrun something. I sat there, my hands clasped together so tight my knuckles turned white, sneaking glances at him every few seconds. When a nurse finally appeared at the door and called for us, Mario practically jumped. I scrambled to my feet and went after him, trying to catch up with his long strides. When we reached the door to Regina’s room, Mario froze. He stood there, hand hovering over the handle, breathing like he’d just run a marathon. I reached out, gently brushing my fingers against his arm. He flinched like he didn’t even realize I was there, then looked down at me with this broken, hollow look that twisted my stomach into knots.I opened the door gently, careful not to make a sound. Mario just stood there in the doorway, frozen for a moment. Regina sat up in her bed, her eyes lighting up the second she saw

SYLVIA'S POV I didn’t know what to say to Mario, so when the doctor came out and interrupted us, I let out a quiet sigh of relief, sinking deeper into my chair."I would like to speak to you in my office," the doctor said, his tone clipped and professional. His eyes flicked over Mario’s outfit a little too long, his disapproval almost visible before he turned sharply and started walking down the hallway."Why the fuck did you even wear this?" I muttered under my breath, nudging Mario in the side with my elbow as we stood to follow. He smirked, glancing at me sideways. "My friend lent them to me. Figured my usual clothes weren’t exactly... business meeting appropriate for dealing with other gang members."I rolled my eyes. "And is that why you drowned yourself in whiskey and cigarette smoke too?" I asked, tilting my head up to catch his expression.Mario chuckled, that low, warm sound that always seemed to crack my walls a little. "You're so witty," he said, grinning lazily. "One of t

SYLVIA’S POVI was too stunned to speak. My mouth hung open slightly, my eyes as wide as saucers as I stared at her."What... what did you just say?" I finally asked. She didn't answer right away, instead, she stared at the grass for a long, heavy moment, like she was trying to gather pieces of herself. When she finally spoke, her voice was so low, I had to lean closer to hear her."They gave the three of them guns after months of abuse," she said. "And they told them if they shot one of themselves, it would all end. The pain, the abuse, the fear... it would all be over. And they could go back to living normal lives."I blinked, feeling my stomach knot tighter and tighter."Gerard..." she paused, pressing her lips together. "Gerard used to be Mario’s favorite brother. And Gerard was Michael’s favorite too. But Mario and Michael... they didn’t get along. There was always tension there."She glanced at me, almost like she was asking for permission to keep going.I nodded silently, urgi

Sylvia's POVMario didn’t come back that night after he stormed out.I barely slept, tossing and turning, glancing at my phone every few minutes like a fool waiting for a text that never came. By morning, there was still no sign of him. No message. No missed calls. Nothing.I asked around, clinging to hope. The staff all gave me the same helpless looks. Nobody knew anything.Or maybe they were lying. Maybe he had asked them not to tell me.By noon, I couldn’t take it anymore. Sitting around, waiting, pretending I wasn’t falling apart inside. My chest felt too tight. I needed to do something, anything. So I stormed upstairs, straight to Gerard’s room.I didn’t bother knocking. I pushed the door open and walked right in.He barely even looked at me. Just kept rummaging through a drawer, his back tense. A half-packed suitcase sat open on his bed, clothes tossed in like he didn’t give a damn where he was going."What do you want?" he muttered, voice sharp and dismissive.Something inside
