13 hours later...
Athena found herself, standing in a massive crowd at NY airport, her very own hometown. Feeling lightheaded due to her jetlag, she shut her eyes for a brief moment to eliminate her dizziness before she began to walk slowly with unsteady steps.A deep sigh escaped from her lips as she dragged her suitcase towards the exit but unfortunately, due to her unstable footing, she stumbled along the way. She almost fell on the ground but she was lucky that someone managed to catch her befall on time or she would've been the center of attraction upon her arrival.A pair of strong arms appeared out of nowhere holding her slender waist, saving her from falling heavily on the ground as well as the embarrassment from all the people around her. She sighed in relief, feeling genuinely thankful yet after a few seconds..."Ouch..." she winced as she felt that those hands were gripping her tight and its fingers were roughly penetrating into her delicate flesh producing a dull pain in that certain area. With her head hung low, she struggled to stand up, clutching the stranger's shirt tightly to steady herself on..."How clumsy!" A man's deep and mocking voice coldly berated in her ears as he loosened his hold on her waist after making sure that she could fully standstill before he shoved them back inside his pocket trousers. Totally oblivious to who had saved her, she evokes a pleasant smile before she looks up. She planned to thank the person for saving her but her smile gradually faded followed by her darkened eyes when she recognized the stranger. Her body momentarily froze, turning at a loss for words.'TERRENCE ADAMS!' Her inner self growled annoyingly. 'What sort of misfortune is this?' She could hardly refrain herself from cursing out but those only remained in her mind as she couldn't voice them out. She prefers to be silent rather than to nag, argue or explain herself as being a 'talking bird' has never been in her vocabulary ever since and that character of hers alone caused a lot of misunderstanding towards her but she didn't give a damn to it.'But out of thousands of people in this airport, why do I have to stumble in front of the man that I refused to even meet? Why does it have to be him? Why not another person instead?' She couldn't help complaining to herself silently. At a first glance, she immediately noticed how his features developed, looking more prominent during those years of her absence. His short black hair, chiseled face and firm jawlines showcased his thick knitted brows, high-bridge nose and thin lips yet his bluish eyes looked extremely cold as it stabbed right through her depths. Compared to before, he seemed to have gained a lot of muscles now as she noticed his broad shoulders as well as his muscular torso wrapped in his crisp black shirt with three buttons down along with his long muscular legs wrapped in his black jeans. His tanned complexion made a real deal of how he appeared to look similar to a Greek god molded into perfection of manliness. All in all, he looked strikingly bewitching to any woman's eyes but definitely not hers!"Like what you see?" he sneered above her head.Snapping out of her silent manifestation, she gripped her suitcase handle, dragging it leisurely to a certain direction to hail a taxi cab. With her blood starting to simmer, she didn't want to ride in his damned car and breathe the same air as his as it only infuriates her further. 'Keep calm Athena. Breathe in, breathe out. Don't bother listening to his bullshits… The asshole was just trying to get you out of your restricted zone…' she reminded herself repeatedly."Where the hell are you going?" Terrence muttered coldly, narrowing his darkening eyes on her back as he trailed behind her. "Home," Athena muttered curtly, taking another step refusing to spare a glance at him.Terrence gritted his teeth, suppressing his annoyance. "Athena!" He called out impatiently. "Get in my car!". She waved her hand dismissively in response. "Leave me alone. I'm not in the mood to fight with you.""I said, get in my car!" He repeated. This time his voice was getting louder."Haven't I told you to not bother picking me up?" She hissed, gritting her teeth in irritation as she continued to move forward, ignoring his rants. He sneered as he followed. "Do you think I volunteer to pick you up, huh? This is our fathers' order!". "You could have sent someone to pick me up rather than coming in person." She retorted, pursing her lips."Huh!" He scoffed. "If only I had another choice to make, I wouldn't even want to see you. How much more to be around you?" He remarked harshly. His harsh words successfully sent Athena into a fit of rage. She stopped, tilted her head and glared at him. "Then why not give me a goddamn favor? Get the hell out of my face because I don't want to see you either!" She spat.Terrence gazed at her darkly. Having been aware of his father's temper, he was certainly sure that he would gain another earshots if he failed to bring the woman to her specific destination, thus, even if he was reluctant, he gave her an ultimatum. "Don't make me lose my patience, woman!" He warned, gritting his teeth. "You have two choices to make. Either you come with me voluntarily or I'll carry you out of here…"The thought of him carrying her over his shoulder like a sack of rice made her horrified. Indeed, her stubbornness needed to end at this hour before everything turned out to be an embarrassing mess. She has to admit defeat in the meantime…Taking a deep breath, she uttered calmly. "Fine. Lead the way please..."Athena chucked herself and made a sharp turn. Her insides were twisting into knots much ready to lash out her anger to him but after thinking for a short while, she realized that this wasn't the right time to explode. She still had a long way to go, to torture him in the future. He stared at her suspiciously trying to read her mind but after a few seconds he shook his head and shrugged. "Follow me," He urged her coldly as he strode forward in large strides, heading straight to his car.Releasing a strangled breath, Athena shook her head and rolled her eyes in annoyance. She lifted her suitcase helplessly as she trailed behind him in difficulty. Getting closer to the parking lot, a familiar voice suddenly appeared out of nowhere."Athena, is that you?" A woman's confused voice sounded from her behind. Athena froze on her current spot and so did Terrence. Her eyes rammed on his face as he made a sharp tilt over his shoulder. Their gazes locked for a few seconds before she cut it off leaving him inexplicably uneasy. Her eyes brightened slyly and her lips lifted up forming a mischievous smile while waving her hand to the woman's direction. She seized the latter's appearance from head to toe and made a distasteful remark to herself as she came closer. 'Your outfit was undeniably worth a lot of money compared to mine yet nobody knows that you're cheaper than those rugs sold on the streets for being such a good schemer…' "Hi, Hannah," She greeted the latter merrily. The woman lifted her heels and strode forward gracefully, staring at her in a daze. You… You're back?" She seemed nervous as her voice came out faltering."Yes, I'm back." Athena muttered curtly as she met her gaze with different thoughts swirling in her mind.Hannah darted her gaze at the man just a meter away from Athena and asked curiously, "Terrence, you're here too?"The man gathered himself together in a snap. Displaying a nonchalant expression as he strides forward and kisses the woman's lips under Athena's gaze. Instead of answering her inquiry, he asked her instead. "Hannah, what are you doing here, love?"It was then that Athena concluded something hearing such an affectionate endearment... Hannah has become Terrence's girlfriend during her absence! She darted her eyes away and rolled them secretly. 'So she finally got what she worked hard for, huh?' she thought."Ah, I'm here to pick up my friend…" Hannah muttered softly. She darted her gaze back and forth to Athena and Terence then she began to ask with uncertainty, showcasing a curious and anxious look. "Why are you guys… together?" "It's just a coin—..." Terrence wanted to hide the fact that he was specifically here to pick Athena up but the woman herself beat him without further ado leaving him completely at a loss for words.Athena was fast to chime in. Flashing a devious smirk, she cast a casual glance at the man, determined to pull down his leg. "He's actually here to pick me up..." She muttered, sounding undisturbed.Hannah glared at Athena sinisterly whilst clenching her fists under her pockets as she asked. "What do you mean?""He was ordered to pick me up," Athena explained briefly, ignoring Hannah's sharp stares."Love..." Terrence tried to interject looking anxious. He glared at Athena silently motioning her to shut her mouth and stop spatting nonsense but Athena has a stubborn nature therefore, she permits nobody to control her especially those who seemed irrelevant to her. She was having none of his shits as she was determined to drag him into trouble in any possible way she could! This time she won't just sit back and let them stomp her with their filthy feet. She was determined to counter and fight heads on!"Oh, okay..." Hannah nodded her head in understanding but deep inside she felt suspicious as she recalled that her boyfriend had hated Athena down to his every fiber because she made sure of that. 'Why does it have to be Terrence? Why not one of her family?'"Are you here for good?" She added attentively. How she wished that Athena would say no as she feared that all of her efforts back then would go to waste if the woman chose to stay for good. She barely catches Terrence's attention before thus she treats the latter as a huge threat to her relationship with him. Athena was after all the only person that she saw, surrounding him even if they merely talked to each other therefore she made a mental note for that…Recalling what she did before, she realized how tricky it was to plot against her thus doing it again would be trickier than before as she wasn't sure if the woman would remain tolerant just like before. Her silence put her at ease but now, she was starting to doubt it… It made her feel edgy and anxious…"Yeah... Perhaps…" Athena murmured, seemingly unsure. "I really don't know... Family related matters can't be avoided, you know..." She added, shrugging her shoulders.Hannah's face fell, turning paler whilst Terrence was silent listening to their brief conversation when he heard a man's voice berating behind them."Hannah..? Athena..?"The three jerked their heads to the voice's direction as their faces displayed various expressions. Hannah was first to roll her eyes upon seeing the man as she recognized him as Athena's close friend, Sam. She ignored him and even refused to utter a single word but her ears are prickly focused on their conversation."Guys, what a coincidence!" The man squealed, aiming his bewildered gaze at one of them. He marched briskly to their position and asked. "Athena, you're finally back?" He sounds genuinely excited, completely ignoring the couple.Terrence's face turned terribly ashen. 'What was he doing here?' He thought, suddenly feeling irritated. "What a bad coincidence I must say…" he said without bothering to hide his displeasure towards the guy.Opposite to Terrence's expression, Athena's eyes lit up as she grinned, "I missed you so much, bud!" She huffed, throwing a fierce slap on the man's arm. Since Hannah, her terrible eyesore appeared, she decided to leave the couple alone and go with her newly arrived friend hence she pouted, "Since you're here, can I hitch a ride?" She added jokingly while clicking her tongue. "Sure!" Sam chuckled excitedly and added, "You don't have any idea how much I missed you. I love to send you off, my dear Athena…"Terrence balled his fist inside his pocket and grunted in disapproval. "No, you can't!"Sam had witnessed how Terrence tried to control Athena during their teenage years out of coincidental circumstances, thus he was certainly aware of the guy's reaction to her especially when he was around as he became closer to Athena during the days that she was needing a friend to rely on.Terrence might refuse to admit it but Sam was able to read his actions as an observer. He was certain that he harbored a hidden affection towards the woman because of how he always acted vigilant when it comes to him. He concluded that the guy appeared in denial with his true feelings, after all, they had a big misunderstanding back then. Furthermore, there's nothing more precise explanation for doing such a thing unless the guy felt like he was being threatened over his possession.Showing off his dominant side whenever Sam tried to get closer to her was his usual behavior and he was used to it but Terrence's constant protest barely holds his patience this time. He was fed up with the latter's nons
Sam raised his eyebrows, amused at Athena's words. "You finally decided to take charge of the situation, aren't you?" He asked."Huh!" Athena scoffed. "Hannah Wilson managed to turn the tables before because I let her do whatever she wanted but not this time..." she paused, shaking her head. "She's going to regret messing up with me…" "You're planning on exposing her?" Sam tried to guess her thought.Athena snorted. "Not just that...""What if he stood in your way? What will you do?""I'll beg the elders for divorce using his stupidity as one of the grounds..." She explained thoroughly.Sam nodded as he smiled and assured her. "Whatever you're planning, I'll be here to support you, Thena...""I know..." She smiled back and went, "I always got your back ever since and I'm thankful for that...""We're friends, remember?" He muttered hesitantly."We're best friends, Sam..." She corrected him with a broad smile before she leaned back on her seat.***Sam dropped Athena at the MS hotel lo
Terrence glared at her teary face. "I'm here to pick you up. Pack your things and come with me." He muttered curtly.Athena was drunk but not heavily. She simply glared back at him without any signs of letting him in...His intense stare irritated her thus she gripped the door knob tight, intending to slam the door shut but he was fast to sense her intention, blocking his feet off the gape. Defeated, she turned around and staggered back inside. Ignoring him, she popped another can of beer and gulped it until it went gradually empty."Athena Adams!" Terrence shut the door close and yelled at her as he followed behind. He appeared in front of her in a snap, snatching the can but he found it already empty. He gnashed his teeth and asked. "How much did you drink, huh?"She turned her back from him, curling herself into a ball in the corner of her couch as a shaky whisper gradually escaped from her mouth. "Leave me alone." She rasped. Terrence frowned while watching her. He approached her
"How shameless…" she muttered under her breath.Terrence displayed a smug look on his face as he retorted casually. "There's no such thing as shame when it comes to husband and wife…"The way he spoke, he seemed to have turned into another person as anger and irritation completely dissipated from his voice, replaced by a hint of bantering and teasing…Athena was left with no choice but to take another can from the fridge, throwing it on Terrence's face. "Take it!" She huffed reluctantly. "Thanks," he murmured casually after catching the can flying in the air and began leaning on the kitchen counter as he opened his can and took a huge gulp from it."What brought you here?" she inquired curiously as she didn't recall letting him know her whereabouts. She recalled that there's only two people who were aware of her location — Mike and Sam. Mike was currently overseas… Therefore, Sam might be… Her eyes darkened, astonished at her conclusion. 'Did Sam betray me?' She thought, gritting h
'Terrence was obviously out of his mind' Athena thought to herself as she struggled to fight both her inner dilemma and him when he yanked her into his arms forcefully. She was engulfed in his warm hug... It both felt comfortable yet there was a hint of hesitation rising within her. Should she give in to him and let everything happen so easily? Would everything change between them after this moment takes place? These are the questions that kept on buzzing inside her head.Feeling her reluctance, his eyes darkened as a strong desire to conquer her surge through him. "Stop struggling..." he warned her seriously.Athena was both nervous and anxious. "Terrence, this is wrong... We can't do this. Besides we have...""This is not wrong, Enah... You are my wife and I'm your husband. We are legally married which means that this is going to be right..." He stated roughly. With that being said, he lifted her up in bridal style and brought her back inside the room. He threw her in the middle of
"Surrender yourself to me..." he repeated."What do you mean exactly?" Athena's brows furrowed. Aside from feeling baffled, she was also horrified by Terrence's constant pleading. Growing together for years, this was the first time that she saw and heard him acting like this…She tried absorbing his words but her mind went completely blank. It was malfunctioning... She couldn't help thinking that she might have been hearing things... Wrong words precisely."Enah, say something…" Terrence stared straight in her eyes hoping to hear her submission. His heart frantically beat so fast, similar to a horse's gallop enthralling the racing field. Nervous and crestfallen was slowly swallowing his entirety as seconds of silence emerged between the two.On the other hand, Athena was struggling whether she would consider his rants. She finds his behavior unbelievable thus she keeps on racking her brain for some excuses to delay his intentions. Hannah was all she could find and nothing more…"Te-T
"I know, Enah... Let me get you ready before that... Hmmm?""Be gentle please..."Terrence gazed at the pleading Athena and heaved a deep sigh. "Enah... What will you think of me if I pushed this matter between us, hmmm?" He muttered softly."You want to hear the truth? I think that's not a good idea for now..." Athena mumbled hesitantly. She didn't want to piss him off if she told him how she defined their intimate interaction at this moment. Could she gather the courage to say that she found him odd and her mind was fuzzy that she found it like she was just dreaming? Well... She might be indeed dreaming, right?"Tell me..." Terrence groaned deeply and began to rub himself from where he had currently been settled which on the middle of her thighs while his upper body hovers above her. He was flirting with her and trying to divert her attention to ease her nervousness in accepting him for the
"Athena Stanford! I can't be wrong! It was her!"Athena couldn't help tilting her head and stared at her husband's face. The corners of her lips rose up forming a playful smile while she continued to listen on their caller. 'Hannah must not be expecting that Terrence is with me right now... Stupid woman, she's digging her own grave for accusing me...' she thought with a sneer.Terrence eyes shot wide open in disbelief. He stared at Athena with an apologetic gaze while stroking her hair lovingly. "What made you think that it was her? She just arrived at the city just a couple of hours and now she already knows where you lived? Don't you think that's too fast?" He asked icily. He got the sudden urge to continue with his act that he was still in the dark and unaware of her antics. But what about Athena? Would she allow him?How could Hannah tell him that Athena went on her house and tried to kill her when they were currently laying t
4 years later... "Mommy!" "Daddy!" The couple's door was about to collapse due to the twins' intense banging. Athena's eyes snapped wide open, startled with the noise. "Babe, the kids... They're awake!" she whispered half-yelled. Terrence who was currently in the middle of his wicked plan halted. "You just arrive last night from your business trip and I haven't had the chance yet to do what I want..." he complained. After giving birth to the twins, Mattis and Alexis, Athena formally accepted her grandfather's offer to replace his position as the CEO of The MONROE's Group and Terrence also agreed to it. However, during the times that she's out of the country for a business trip, Terrence was left to take care of the kids until she return and he had them enrolled in kindergarten just a couple of months ago. "Mommy!" The little girl's melodious voice resonated outside. "Please open the door!" BANG! BANG! BANG! "Daddy!" This time the voice belongs to the little boy, shouting. "
Terrence and Athena was surprised to know that their families prepared a world tour as their wedding gift. Perhaps because they were stucked at the island for months that's why they want them to enjoy freedom to go wherever they desired to go and do whatever makes them both happy therfore they took advantage to it. They spent four months roaming in different places all over the globe, experiencing various types of traditions and delicacies in every place they went. They also discovered a new and healthy way to help her restore what she lost before in the most effective way. Needless to say, by using such method, she won't just be able to get back to her old self but regain more than that. Terrence didn't hesitate to urge her to try it and she agreed after the doctor assured her that it won't affect her pregnancy. During those months, Athena's skin has fully recovered, transforming it into a glassy white complexion so even if she was about to give birth, she remained glowing especiall
"I didn't plan these all to make you cry, Enah." Terrence said. "In fact, I want to let everyone know how sincere I am to be with you that's why I prepared this wedding to surprise you. The first one was unpleasant, not a good story to tell to our kids so I want that to change..." "I just can't believe that you did these all behind my back." She replied. "Thank you..." "This is just the beginning..." he smiled as he hand her over his hand. "Athena Adams, will you marry me for the second time?" he asked her. "I swear to be a devoted husband to you and a loving father to our kids in the future..." Under the veil, she beamed. "Can I say no?" she bluffed. "Of course you can't..." he chuckled. "You're mine and you can't refuse me either." "Right!" She laughed. "I've been yours since then..." As she took his hand, the old man said, "Young man, you probably know how much she means to me, right?" "Of course, grandpa. I promise to take care of her 'till my last breathe." Terrence swear s
While Athena was being picked up by her grandfather, Terrence took different cars to the airstrip for the Stanford and Adams family. In two hours of waiting, their jet finally landed. The first to come out was none other than Trisha, his younger sister who camecd[ running down the iron stairs. "Oh my God, brother!" she shouted out. "You look different! What happened to you?" Terrence just smiled at her and asked "How's your trip? Is everything fine?" "Yes, everything is fine." His father, Mr. Adams, chimes in to their conversation. "Dad," Terrence went to hug his father. Then he came next to his mother, kissing her cheeks. "Mom," "My boy..." his mother cried. "I never thought that this moment would actually come. I feel so proud of you, son." His father snorted. "He's going to be a father. When will he man up?" "Come on, Dad." Trisha yanked her father away from her brother and said, "I want to stay here for vacation." Terrence watched her sister trying to divert her father's
Perhaps Athena enjoyed the process of her make over so much as she didn't notice that she had been sitting in her comfy chair for almost three hours. If not for Vincent who came up to inform them that the car has arrived, she wouldn't realize that her husband has been gone from her sight for a couple of hours already. Curious, she asked the butler. "Uncle where was he?" "You mean your husband?" "Yes. Have you seen him?" "Ah," Vincent smiled. "He went to get the car ready for you and he also left a few instructions." "Instructions?" Her newly trimmed brows raised as she asked. "What instructions if I may ask?" "He said that he won't be here to pick you up and that someone else will do that for him. He will wait for you at the venue, Mrs. Adams." Vincent narrated fluently according to Terrence's instructions earlier. "Since that was the case, please tell the driver to wait for a little bit longer." She said without thinking too much. "Alright Mrs. Adams. Please take your time..."
Unbeknownst to Hannah, her movements were being monitored fom the outside. To make sure that she won't do something horrible during her detention period, Terrence asked someone to keep an eye on her. Even her pregnancy was being reported to him and he firmly instructed that no matter what happened, the innocent child must be born safe as it has nothing to do with what she has done. Therefore when she suggested for an abortion, the nurse shook her head and refused her request right there and then saying that... "I'm sorry, Miss. We're not abortionists. That was against the law of human and God." Hearing this, Hannah laughed. "Do you think I still care about that goddamn law? Look where I am." She said, "I'm here in jail so why should I give a sh*t about the law?!" "Miss," the nurse sighed helplessly and replied, "...why do you sound like you have lost all your hope? Have you known that you might given the chance to come out if you truly show your sincere repentance? You're convicte
Ashley felt her knees turning jelly when his cold and dominating voice rang in her ears. 'What was he doing here?' she wondered. The man's oppressing aura was too much for her to bear, turning the usually peaceful atmosphere into tense. However, this was the area that men are strictly forbidden according to the establishment's rules and regulations therefore she has all the freedom to move whether he likes it or not. Moreover, working hours has long been ended after he dismissed her harshly at the office so why was he still barking at her at this hour? As per their agreement, she has to look and obey him as her boss during working hours but not in places like this. This is the moment of her privacy and she had all the freedom to do whatever she wanted therefore she turned around without hesitation and spoke in an ironic manner. "Mr. Stanford, do you prefer the ladies room now rather than the men's room?" "Miss Mills," Anton glared at her and spoke, ignoring her stunt. "I think I
It was around noon in the island where Terrence and Athena stayed. However at NY City, the surroundings appeared to had just gotten dark. In Stanford Building... Ashley was busy sorting out the documents in her office when her boss barged in without further ado which caused her hands to halt and tremble in nervousness especially when his emotionless voice began to rang in her ears. "Aren't you done yet? What took you so long?" Anton asked her coldly. She swallowed hard before she replied. "Y-yes, Mr. Stanford. It was done now." "Put them all in the safe." He barked. "Hurry up! We don't have much time left!" Ashley nodded as she stood up. In one swift, she took all the documents from her table then she scurried out, heading towards the CEO's office. Anton eyed her sharply while following behind. When she reached inside, she bit her bottom lip in frustration while scolding herself in silence. 'Ashley Mills! How fool are you to forget that he was the only person who has the acces
What she experienced way back was indeed a disaster and it was such a huge miracle that she manage to stay alive after the explosion. Though her appearance changed, she was still thankful for having a second chance to live therefore, she bowed to make it more worth it. And by doing this, she has to let lose what's inside her heart. This time, she didn't care if he would laugh at her however seeing him teary, she doubt it if he could even bring himself to do so therefore she continued t recall the things that she haven't told hm eversince... "From the start, I never like the idea of you getting close to anyone aside from me..." she said. "You chose to enter that school because of me and I feel secretly glad but seeing you surrounded by some..." she sighed, halting while fidgeting her fingers as she continued. "Hannah, from the very start, I know why she tries to get close to you. She developed a deep attraction towards you." "I don't dwell about the past. Don't take me wrong." She rea
