The professor

Selena came out of the car and put on her sunglasses, ignoring the sea of eyes that stared at her.

She wore the angry face she had always been using and sauntered casually towards her office.

“Miss Santa Cruz,” the most annoying voice Selena had always wished not to hear echoed behind her.

She bit her lips and turned, forcing a smile into her face.

“Hello, Mr. Rodrigo,” she greeted, glaring disgustingly at the stout potbellied man standing some distance away from her.

“Mere glancing at you brightened up my day,” he chuckled, showing off his large teeth as he ran his lust-filled eyes over Selena’s body.

Selena turned up her lips in disgust, clenching her fist in fury.

If only they knew who she was, they wouldn’t dare talk shit before her.

“Hmmm, I hope your day remains bright,” she tried to sound as polite as possible.

“Well… if you’ll pull off those odd sunglasses, then it will shine brighter,” he grinned.

“Well… I hope your day will remain dark forever!” Selena wanted to spit those words at his face but refrained from committing such an offense.

“I guess your day will be okay with that level of brightness,” Selena said and didn’t wait for him to respond before spinning around and walking briskly into her office.

She sighed out and walked towards her desk which was piled up with documents and projects submitted by her students.

She glanced over at the list of names for the first-level students of the psychology department and sighed.

A bouquet laid on one of the seats caught her gaze, she picked it up and turned up her lips in annoyance.

“They break into my office too?” she hissed and threw the sweet-smelling bouquet into the trashcan, then tore the letter tucked into it bits by bits.

She hoped she wouldn’t end up killing someone in the university someday.

As she picked up her books and headed for her first lecture, another note caught her eye.

“What the heck is this?” she growled and picked up the decorated letter. She didn’t bother checking the contents before turning it to shreds.

As she heaved loudly, glaring at the bits of paper in the trashcan, her phone rang.

She swerved her attention away from the discarded gifts and dug out her phone.

She accepted the call and pinned the phone to her ear, waiting to hear the caller’s voice.

“Boss, it’s me. Tiger,” a rough voice boomed out.

“I know,” Selena snapped, narrowing her eyes.

“There will be a gathering at the sinner’s hall tonight, will you be there?” Tiger, Selena’s wingman asked.

“I guess they are going to talk about her, isn’t it?” Selena muttered a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.

“After the brutal murder of Alonzo, they all find it necessary to find a way to bring forth the end of the Invincible Queen,” Tiger said, making Selena chuckle sinisterly.

“Why the hell won’t I be there, besides, I need my title back. I can’t keep sharing my position with some invincible woman,” Selena said, licking her lips.

“I’m fucking going, prepare some boys. You know shitty gatherings like that always end up turning bloody,” Selena said and Tiger hummed a response before the line went dead.

“Am I interrupting?” a male voice muttered behind her.

Selena’s eyes widened as she muttered a curse under her breath before turning around to face a young chubby boy wearing large glasses.

“Yes?” Selena tilted her head, glaring at the boy.

“Are you Miss Santa Cruz?” the boy asked, feeling inferior and intimidated as he stood before the most beautiful and intelligent woman in Starlight College.

“Yes,” she snapped a reply, eyeing him suspiciously.

She memorized the words she would throw at him if he dared talk about anything else aside from his studies.

“I was directed to you by the Dean—”

“Why?” she cut him off, fuming in impatience.

“My… my project,” he replied, avoiding her eyes.

“When were you expected to submit it?” Selena inquired.

“Last semester, but—”

“Then keep it, you’re getting a carryover,” Selena rasped and grabbed her books.

Horror spread across his face as he slumped to his knees, clasping his hands together.

“Please, forgive me, ma’am. I was admitted to the hospital some days after the project was given; I couldn’t complete mine before the semester ended; give me another chance.”

Selena narrowed her cold eyes at him and replied hoarsely.

“That is what I have just given you.” And with that she was off to the lecture hall, leaving the disheartened boy behind.

She ignored all greetings and kept a straight face that kept everyone off her path.

Immediately she walked into the hall, silence fell over everyone.

Their eyes roamed around her body in admiration and awe as they waited for an introduction and the commencement of the lecture.

“Hello, everyone,” she muttered, not bothering to take off the dark glasses.

The students exchanged glances when they didn’t get any formal introduction from their professor.

Selena set down her books and turned around to the board on the wall.

The door burst open just as the lessons were about to begin and a young boy rushed into the hall, panting heavily.

His sparkling green eyes locked with Selena’s dark cold eyes.

Selena felt her breath cease as she stared at the handsome beauty before him. From his dark brown curly hair cascading down to his shoulders down to his mesmerizing green eyes. Her eyes traced his sharp square jawline to his broad chest, everything looked perfect to Selena.

Selena swallowed hard and batted her lashes, returning to her senses.

“I’m sorry that I’m late, ma’am,” he muttered, his eyes glittering with guilt.

“What is your name?” Selena asked.

The boy sucked in his lower lip, glanced around at everywhere aside Selena’s eyes.

“What is your name?” Selena snapped, getting irritated with his behavior.

“Tyrone. Tyrone Miller.”

Selena nodded and waved him off to his seat. Her eyes followed him till he settled down into a seat

She faced the board and bit her lips, a dark smile dancing in her eyes.
