Last one for the night. Enjoy! :-)
Jade's nails dug into her palms as she watched the repeat of the competition broadcast on her TV. She stood from her couch and almost jumped into the TV the moment she saw Easton walk up to Scarlet and present the prize to her.She could see how he easily recognized her even though she wore so much makeup. Jealousy burned in her chest as she felt like she had already lost him to Scarlet. He was supposed to humiliate and ruin her, not award her with $300,000!‘She must have manipulated him!’ A voice came and Jade immediately agreed because there was no way this would happen!“How shameless is this bitch?” She screamed as she grabbed a glass from the coffee table and hurled it across the room, watching it shatter against the wall. Servants came rushing into the living room to make sure she wouldn’t hurt herself. “Young Madam, please calm down.” Berth, her assistant and head of security tried to step in when Jade crossed the room in a few strides and landed a hard slap across her face.
“Here is your ID and everything you’ll need. Welcome to Black!” Amanda said to Scarlet as she slid the brown envelope across the table.“Thank you, Miss Lane,” Scarlet responded with a shy smile but Amanda leaned back in her chair, waving her off. “Call me Amanda.” “Oh... I don’t think..”“Scarlet, we will be together for a long time. Just call me Amanda. I insist.” Amanda responded with a straight face. She was the head of programs and a very serious woman. Everyone feared her and none dared to cross her. She was so thick-skinned that she was able to take whatever Easton lashed at them with a straight face. But somehow, she already had a weak spot for Scarlet.“Thank you, Amanda, “ Scarlet took the envelope and stood before excusing herself so she could start her first day.Scarlet was so nervous as she looked around. She was an orphan who never went to any school or college. All her designs were self-taught and she was afraid of making a mistake knowing Easton would eat her alive.
Easton was working overtime and was about to drive off when he saw a woman bending over to remove her heels. He was about to drive away when he saw the hair and instantly knew it was Scarlet even though her face wasn’t visible. He’d recognize her anywhere. It was almost like he subconsciously felt her presence before his eyes landed on her. “What the fuck are you doing Easton? She’s your enemy!” He muttered under his breath as he tapped the steering wheel and debated his next move. He hated how he felt the pull to get her out of the rain. “I just want her healthy so I can punish her. How can I get my revenge when she’s sick?” He reasoned with the voice at the back of his head and drove towards her. Easton slowed down his car as he approached her, watching as Scarlet struggled against the downpour, her heels clutched in one hand, trying to shield her bag with her jacket. Rain drenched her hair, the loose curls plastered to her face and neck, he was about to step out and cover her
The next morning, Jade hurried into Easton’s office, her heart racing with a mix of jealousy and anger. She had spent the night replaying their conversation, wondering why he’d dismissed her concerns so easily, and now she was determined to get answers. She was about to walk into the elevator when her gaze landed on Scarlet, her mood worsening as she turned to face Victoria and Lilian, “What is she doing here?”The ladies exchanged glances, but that annoyed Jade even more.“Do I have to repeat myself?”“We were working outside the office yesterday, so we don’t know what happened,” Victoria explained but that made Jade fume even more.“You two never know anything! Get out, I want to ride alone.” She spat and the two walked out hurriedly. When she reached Easton’s office, she was taken aback to see Easton reviewing sketches, designs spread out on his desk. But what was more shocking was the sight of Scarlet’s name on the folder in front of him.Why was he reviewing her work personally?
Scarlet entered the private lounge, maintaining a composed smile despite her nerves. A part of her knew the client she was about to meet had something going on but she didn’t know what. She wore her curls down today, a white pencil skirt, a pink smart shirt, and boyfriend shoes since she had to take a bus.Grace refused to organize her taxi saying it was a waste because it wasn’t so far but Scarlet was glad she decided to change her shoes because it wasn’t exactly, ‘Near.’ Her client, Mr. Grant, an older man, with wrinkles and yellow teeth with a smirk that didn’t quite reach his eyes, was seated on a plush armchair, sipping his drink. His gaze weirdly roamed over her as she approached, but she forced herself to stay professional. She hadn’t met him before so she wasn’t entirely sure it was him until he called out to her,“Miss Frost, come in, come in!” he called, gesturing to the chair beside him.“Thank you,” Scarlet responded wondering how he knew it was her since they were meetin
"Hi, sweetheart," Scarlet answered softly... Jasmine’s small voice chirped from the other end, "Mama, when are you coming home? You’ve been working so late lately, and… I miss you."Scarlet’s heart melted, and she smiled, even though her chest ached with guilt. “I know, honey. I miss you too. I promise I’ll try to leave early tomorrow, and… how about a date this weekend, just the two of us?”“Really? Just us?” Jasmine asked excitedly. “Can I get cotton candy? I’ve been a good girl!” She negotiated making Scarlet laugh. She was swamped at her desk working overnight again. It was like Grace was unto her peace and would load her with swamps of work the moment that knocking off time was near. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, with some strands dropping. She was barefoot, with her jacket off, leaving her with only her smart shirt, which had the first top buttons opened. She leaned back in the chair with her eyes closed as she spoke to Jasmine. “Yes, really. We’ll go wherever you want,”
One week later….It was friday night and Scarlet was working another late night. From the time she had a conversation with Easton, her work trippled and she was barely able to keep up with Grace breathing down her neck during the day.Scarlet dragged herself through yet another late night of work as she cursed Easton for not letting her enjoy herself after work hours. She had received many requests from Easton himself to design suits and dresses for their VIP clients and supervised the process himself. When she submitted the drafts, he would point out stupid errors like the color was wrong, or the buttons were in the wrong place and made her redo one design over five times before moving on to the next. While everyone thought she was extremely lucky for the CEO to ask her to do something personally, she couldn’t help feeling as if Easton’s plan was designed to keep her chained to her desk. The hours seemed endless, her eyelids were heavy as she finished sewing the last buttons of the
Two days later….Easton pulled his Mercedes Maybach EQS to a stop at the underground parking lot. He unbuckled his seat belt and was about to unbuckle Scarlets when he stopped himself midway and cleared his throat instead. “Come.” His voice commanded as he walked to the elevator.“You behave like a grumpy old man sometimes,” Scarlet commented as she ran behind him so she could catch up. It was a weekend, so she wore Jeans and a white T-shirt with sneakers while Easton wore dark jeans and a black smart shirt with his sleeves rolled up showing off his Rolex on his wrist. His hair was roughly combed making him look hot as the dark colors made the sharp contrast against his fair skin, making his ocean-blue eyes appear even more piercing. “Is that why you can’t keep your eyes off me?” He teased as he pressed the elevator button.“You wish!” Scarlet rolled her eyes even though she was biting the inside of her cheeks to hold back her smile. Scarlet stood in stunned silence, still proc

Ten years later…The Black estate was alive with laughter and warmth, a stark contrast to the cold, intimidating mansion it had once been. “It wasn’t me!” Michael Black, once known for his gruff and no-nonsense demeanor, had long since abandoned any illusion of control in his household. He stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows of his office, sipping his morning coffee, and watching the chaos unfold in the garden below. His ten-year-old daughter, Sophia, a whirlwind of energy with her mother’s stubbornness and his sharp mind, was currently chasing her younger brother, Eli, around the backyard. Eli, at six years old, was just as mischievous as his sister, but with a charm that let him get away with just about anything—especially with his mother. Vivian had always been a force to be reckoned with, but as a mother, she was even more terrifyingly devoted. Michael smirked as he watched her from the window. She was standing with Scarlet, laughing as she scolded Sophia for attempting
“What is going on?” Vivian asked, her voice laced with curiosity as Michael carefully led her outside, his large hands covering her eyes. “Just trust me,” he murmured near her ear, his deep voice sending a familiar shiver down her spine. Vivian huffed but didn’t argue. She could feel the cool evening breeze against her skin and the soft sound of music in the background. The scent of roses filled the air, mingling with something delicious—her stomach grumbled in anticipation. Finally, Michael stopped his hands slowly slipping away from her face. Vivian blinked as her vision adjusted, and when she finally took in what was before her, her breath hitched. The backyard had been transformed into something straight out of a dream. A large mattress covered in rose petals was nestled under twinkling fairy lights, and a beautifully set dinner table stood nearby, illuminated by the soft glow of candles. A huge screen was set up, ready to play what she assumed was one of their favorite
The grand estate was transformed into a dream-like setting, decorated in soft hues of pink and blue. Fairy lights twinkled in the trees, and elegant floral arrangements adorned every corner of the sprawling garden. A large "Baby Black" banner hung over the beautifully arranged dessert table, where an assortment of sweets and a magnificent tiered cake waited to be cut. Michael had spared no expense, ensuring the event was perfect. Vivian, of course, had demanded something extravagant, and he had gladly complied. Vivian stood in the center of it all, glowing, her six-month baby bump accentuated by a flowing satin dress that curved just below her bust. She had chosen a shimmering gold gown, refusing to blend into the pink and blue theme. Her hair had been turned into soft curls, and her eyes sparkled with excitement. Michael, ever the grumpy billionaire, stood beside her in a white shirt and black pants, looking both inpatient and ridiculously handsome. Vivian had complained a
Michael unlocked the door to their home. A cake in one hand and flowers in another. His mind still running through his conversation with Easton. Foot rubs, space, asking what she needed—it all felt a little… too simple. But he’d try. He needed to try. The moment he stepped inside, he was hit with the scent of freshly baked cookies. He paused, taking a slow breath. His heart rate quickened. Was she really baking? Vivian didn’t exactly strike him as the domestic type. His curiosity led him further into the house, and that’s when he saw her. Vivian stood by the kitchen counter, a wide grin on her face, clearly waiting for his reaction. Her apron was askew, flour streaked on her cheek, but she looked happier than he’d seen her in days. “Michael!” she exclaimed, her voice laced with excitement. “I made cookies! I thought you’d like them.” “Really? I got you your cake and some flowers.” Micheal responded, hesitation filling his voice as he searched for a reaction.Vivian’s smil
Michael sat across from Easton at a secluded café, nursing a cup of coffee. His eyes were bloodshot, and his hands kept fidgeting as if he had no idea what to do with them. His mind was racing, but he was at a complete loss. Easton sat back in his chair, eyes scanning the menu as if Michael wasn’t about to have a mental breakdown in front of him. Finally, he looked up, raising an eyebrow as he studied his older brother. “You look like shit,” Easton said with a smirk, clearly not concerned with Michael’s state of mind. Michael glared at him. “You always have a way with words, don’t you?” Easton chuckled and leaned forward, folding his arms across his chest. “So, what’s going on? The great Michael Black losing his cool over a pregnancy?” Michael huffed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “I can’t do anything right, Easton. She cries all the time, and I don’t know how to handle it. Everything I do seems to upset her. I just want her to be happy.”Easton raised
Michael’s grip tightened on his pen as his phone vibrated again. He ignored it. For the past thirty minutes, Vivian had been bombarding him with messages—most of them utterly useless. Vivian: [Where’s the cup?]Michael: [Kitchen.] Vivian:[Where are the plates?]Michael: [Same place as the cups.] Vivian:[Should I bring you lunch?]Michael: [No.]Vivian:[Why not?]Michael inhaled sharply, fighting the urge to rub his temples. He was in a high-stakes meeting with top executives, discussing a billion-dollar deal, and his wife was acting like a toddler. They had moved into a new home because she hated penthouses and apartments. So he had built her a house she could turn into a home but now he was regretting having had everything done. He should have let her decorate to keep her busy. Another buzz. Vivian:[What are you doing?] Michael clenched his jaw. [Working.]Vivian: [Boring. Want me to send you a funny picture?]He didn’t reply. Two seconds later— Buzz.He g
6 months later….“Vivian, please! You have to talk to your husband!"Vivian held the phone away from her ear, staring at it like it had personally offended her. She sighed, reclining further into the oversized armchair, her silk nightgown draping over her six-month belly. Her father’s frantic voice continued. “He’s taken everything! The company, the house—do you hear me? I have nothing left! Your sister's savings for her tuition!" Vivian swirled the fresh orange juice in her glass, utterly unimpressed. “Mmm. That does sound like a problem.” "Vivian Chen!”“It's Mrs Black. Don't make me lose my temper this morning.”“Right. Right. You see you're his wife make him reverse it!” Vivian had no idea what Micheal had done but she was bored and would enjoy every moment of it. She sighed dramatically. "Oh, I’m sorry. I should be more understanding. After all, when I needed help, everyone rushed to my aid, didn’t they? Oh wait—no one did.” "This isn’t funny! Tell Michael to stop this
The room felt impossibly small despite how grand the ceremony was. Vivian’s pulse thundered in her ears as the priest began speaking, his voice a distant sound compared to the storm of emotions within her.So this was happening. Instead of being sold to an old hag, she was now marrying a stranger who she had a one night with. It's not the best option, but it's definitely the lesser evil. Michael’s hand remained wrapped around hers—firm, warm, unshaking. He looked like he was sure about this. Calm and collected while her mind was going wild, and she was about to go insane from the number of thoughts that were spinning in her head. Doubts. Fear. Uncertainty. He had always been a mystery, with a strong aura she folded to. Yet, standing here, the certainty in his eyes sent a shiver down her spine. This was real. The priest cleared his throat. "The couple has chosen to exchange personal vows. Michael, you may begin."“We have?” Vivian blurted out, making everyone chuckle. It was li
