I got to the top of the stairs and found Remi standing and waiting.

His face was slightly turned upwards as he admired the beautiful ornamental portraits that hung on the wall.

“Remi,” I called out, and his gaze quickly left the portrait and followed me as I came down the stairs.

As usual, he was full of warm, comforting smiles. When I got to the last step before the landing, he offered his hand and I took it, feeling like a proper lady from an 80's movie.

He was such a gentleman.

He took my arm and we walked hand in hand towards the door. He was ready to leave.

“Is everything okay with your sister?” He asked, “I heard a bit of yelling some minutes ago.”

I briefly closed my eyes and nodded, “Everything is fine. It's just Beth being a teenager.”

I appreciated Remi's concern, but I wasn't ready to share Beth's secret with anyone, not even him.

We reached the door, and he turned to face me, his eyes locked on mine.

AnaTaking Beth to the doctor was the foremost thing on my mind when I woke up early the next morning.I needed to be sure she was really pregnant before I decided whether to tell Ben or not. His actions last night had been pretty intense and scared me a little.Who knows what he would've done if I hadn't held my ground and kept my mouth shut about Beth's possible pregnancy. It was 5:00 am when I got off my bed and headed for Liam's bedroom. I wanted to see my son first before going about my day. It was going to be a tough day and I needed some ray of hope and joy to dilute the bad news if there ever turned out to be any.I got to his room and pushed open the door, walking on tiptoes so as not to wake him in case he was still sleeping.A few toys and games lay scattered on the floor all around the room. Liam lay peacefully on his bed, his breath relaxed and peaceful. He had a stuffed animal clutched in his tiny hands. I shook my head and smiled. He must have slept off while playing w

Ana “Right. There goes the party pooper,” I murmured to myself. I wonder what took him so long. I stood outside Dr. Childs' office with the phone still pressed to my ear and Ben's angry voice echoing through the line. "Where the hell are you?" He repeated, his tone dripping with annoyance. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my rising anger. It was too early to get into a screaming match with my fake husband. "I'm at the hospital, Ben. Beth wasn't feeling well." "What's wrong with her?" Ben's interest seemed forced. "Nothing. It turned out to be a false alarm. She's fine." I kept my tone neutral, unsure how much to reveal. "Good. Now get back here, immediately. We have an emergency at the office. The Tokyo branch is facing a major crisis, and I need you, or rather us, to handle the PR damage control.” I frowned, feeling a surge of resentment. "Can't it wait?" "No, it can't. The situation is critical. Every minute counts." Ben's urgency seemed genuine. I sighed wear

When I greeted him from the back, he was startled to find someone else sitting in his precious jeep, clearly forgetting that he'd given the order himself.I shook my head in displeasure, dug into my handbag and brought out my phone. I completely ignored him while pressing my phone. “Ana,” he subtly nodded at my disinterested face and then faced the driver. BenStanding in the elevator all alone and in such close proximity to Ana made me lose my cool for a split second; something that had never happened to me in five years. I bit my lip in annoyance; more at myself than the current situation I'd found myself in. ‘I must be pretty banged up by the stress of this Tokyo mess,’ I thought and closed my eyes for a moment to relax.I opened them in a second to find Ana staring at me with an usual expression: concern.“Everything okay, husband?” She asked in a small voice as she avoided my eyes.Husband? Why was she sounding so…nice? Since I met her, Ana had been nothing but a pain in the ass, constantly undermining me and making everything about herself. Now she's asking me if I'm okay? This must be a trick. She's probably trying to play coy while planning something behind my back. She must think I'm stupid, or that I've forgotten about her and Remi's suspicious friendship. So I took a calming breath, nodded at her and answered in a very nonc
