SELENA

I had never felt so scared for my life but instead of lashing out in anger, Aiden simply smiled at me. I couldn't believe it. Didn't he just get angry? Was this some kind of sick game he was playing?

I braced myself for the worst, assuming that he would retaliate for my audacity. But he just stood there, still clutching my arm in place. His smile, if possible, had widened.

For a moment, I was completely bewildered. Why wasn't he trying to hurt me? Why was he just laying there?

"They were right about your innocence," he said, still smiling.

Who were they? I questioned in my head as I laid there, bound and terrified, I couldn't help but notice the way he smiled for the first time. He had been so menacing before, always scowling and serious, but now as a slight grin appeared on his face, I couldn't help but feel stunned.
