"What the fuck happened?!" James was about to burst when Killian finally left the Whites' house in a leisure movement before he made his way back to the two Alphas waiting in the corner.
"Why did your track spell dissolve?" Raymond was much calmer than James when he opened his mouth. He was the one who stopped James from crashing into the house when the mark on his palm disappeared. "I can't mark Evelyn in there," Killian shook his head, glancing in the house's direction, "she's very likely in the basement, but the whole basement is sealed with a magic field. Sarah would know if I tried anything." "Good enough," James huffed, no longer interested in Killian, "I'm going in!" "You can't!" Killian rose his cane, and James let out a nasty growl, glaring at Killian with his Alpha Aura spouting freely. Killian's grip on his cane tightened, and his cane glowed when instantly James felt a strong pushback on his Alpha Aura. "Killian," Raymond cut in between the two men, "you promised to save her life." "And that's exactly what I'm doing!" Killian squeezed those words out of his clenched teeth. Apparently, it wasn't easy as it seemed for him to resist James's Alpha Aura. "James, let him talk," Raymond took a deep breath and remained calm, ignoring Sisyphus's continuous growl. His head had been in a throbbing pain ever since Sisyphus knew Evelyn was in danger. "First of all, magic fields are tricky," Killian didn't linger any longer, "every magic field consists of different spells, so it's hard to know what would happen if you break it with violence--" "Do I fucking care?!" James hissed impatiently. "Do you care if it would hurt Evelyn?" Killian asked in a light tone, and James pursed his lips with an angry huff. "I might be able to break in safely, but I need time," Killian continued, ignoring James's attitude, "and Sarah can't know about it or she might trigger whatever spells she used." "So, we have to lure Sarah out of the house without her suspecting that it was to rescue Evelyn," Raymond nodded, "tricky, but doable." "That's the second thing," Killian turned to Raymond, "I still need Ava, and I can't risk losing Sarah yet, so, Sarah White is not to be touched until I say so." "Are you fucking kidding me?!" James snapped, reaching for Killian's collar, and this time Killian's cane lit up earlier and James pulled back his hand as if he was burnt. "James," Raymond rose a hand to block James's further move, "Evelyn's safety is all that matters right now. Sarah's punishment can wait." James huffed and turned away, leaving Raymond to talk to Killian. "I appreciate it, Alpha," Killian bowed lightly at Raymond, "with your promise, I'll help." "I won't make a move on Sarah White without your approval," Raymond said solemnly, "so how do you suggest we lure her out?" "With Ava," Killian said without hesitation, apparently having a plan figured out already. "She's at school," Raymond frowned, "we don't have time--" "We don't need her here," Killian waved his hand, "if you tell Sarah that Ava's life is in danger, it would surely put a hold on whatever Sarah is planning to do, including hurting Evelyn." "I can do that," Raymond nodded, but Killian rose a finger-- "Whatever excuse you use, you need to make it happen." Raymond frowned, and James huffed impatiently, apparently getting itchy hands on saving Evelyn. "What do you mean?" Raymond asked Killian, ignoring James. "Sarah would know something is up if later she found out that whatever you told her was a lie," Killian shrugged lightly, "I can't have that. So whatever risk you want to say Ava is in, you need to really make it happen." "I can tell Sarah that Ava is abducted," Raymond thought for a moment, speaking with obvious reluctance, "and--" "I don't think so," Killian cut Raymond off, "Sarah wouldn't have a good reason to leave the house if that, plus, she would definitely ask her husband to mindlink Ava, and we can't risk Ava knowing about our plan." "Then what the fuck do you suggest we do?!" James got tired of Killian's slow way of talking, snapping. Killian didn't get into an angry argument but just turned to Raymond, staring into Raymond's eyes with a straight face. "What do you have in mind, please do tell," Raymond asked politely, holding back his temper. He would have blown out by now, but he knew one of them had to keep a cool mind, for Evelyn's sake. "You are not gonna like it," Killian said in a light voice, his tone stone cold, "so, how far are you willing to go to save Evelyn, Alpha?" "Whatever it takes," Raymond answered without hesitation, and James for the first time, shot Raymond a glance with a genuine friendly look. "Good," Killian nodded slowly before he looked directly into Raymond's eyes, "you need to get Ava in a severe car accident. Are you willing to sacrifice your moral principle, for a wolfless girl who's not even in your pack?" Killian was curious about Raymond's taking an interest in Evelyn. He was pretty sure Ava was the hybrid, so he felt weird and suspicious when Raymond was showing such a huge preference for the "other girl", the girl that was NOT the special one among the only two possible candidates of being THE hybrid. James turned to Raymond with shocked eyes, and Raymond frowned. "You want me to arrange a car accident to get Ava injured?" Said slowly, Raymond frowned in hesitation, "I can't just hurt an innocent even if it's to save a life--" "Raymond Reid!" James protested angrily, and Killian smirked. "I thought you said whatever it takes?" Killian cocked an eyebrow. "There are ways to do things! I--I...Give me time and I'll come up with a plan! Just give me time--" Raymond snapped angrily, but then his eyes darted to the house. He didn't have time. Evelyn could die any moment, and he knew every second he wasted arguing, the chance of Evelyn's survival would diminish a little. James gripped the fence till his fingertips turned white, but he understood Raymond's hesitation. With great power, he and Raymond both believe that the power is to do good, not whatever the fuck they want. "It's not like Ava is that innocent, is it?" Killian lured Raymond, "I'm pretty sure she tried to get Evelyn raped." "What?!" James cut in furiously, but the two other men ignored him. "You knew about that?!" Raymond stared at Killian in shock, "And you still want to recruit her into your coven??!" "It's not a big problem for us," Killian shrugged lightly, "our magic is too rare for us to be picky, besides...what's the good of power if you can't use it to your benefit?" "Not like this!" Raymond rubbed his hair in frustration, his eyes darting to Evelyn's direction again, "I...I can get Sarah to the hospital for a car accident patient, I'll just tell her we mistook that person as Ava--" "And how do you plan to prevent Ava from talking to Sarah ever again after today?" Killian smirked, "I told you, Ava can't know." "And why would you allow me to hurt your precious hybrid like this?" Raymond squeezed the words through his gritted teeth. "She'll heal, right?" Killian played with his cane casually, "It's not like it's a huge sacrifice." "That's too evil, even for me," James shook his head at Killian with despise in his eyes before he turned to Raymond, "but I'm with him. If Ava has hurt Evelyn, then she deserves it." "But that's not the point! Have you lost your fucking mind?!" Raymond burst out, grabbing James's collar in utter anger, "Maybe it's the same, but we are NOT extending punishment, are we?! We are forcing an innocent to be a sacrifice without her consent! How are you fucking okay with that?!" "I'll do anything for Evelyn," James pulled Raymond's hand off his collar coldly, "especially when it sounds like Ava deserves it!" "And if we have to hurt an old lady who has nothing to do with this, would you still do it?!" Raymond pushed James on the chest. "Then I'm glad it's Ava," James answered with a cold face. "But..." Raymond hesitated, couldn't bring himself to make the decision, but all the eyes were on him now. "Or is your precious conscience more important than Evelyn's life?" Killian curved his lips, smirking. "Get your annoying smirk away from me!" Raymond gripped Killian's collar, "Why are you fucking doing this?! You KNOW Ava would join your coven with or without--" "I admit," Killian shrugged with an indifferent look, "it's my way of making sure Ava won't choose you, if I ever need to tell her that you choose to sacrifice her. But it's up to you." Raymond let go of Killian's collar as if he just lost all his strength with utter shock in his eyes. "I'll do it," James stepped up, "I'll go--" He couldn't. It was Raymond's city, and it would take much longer if James were to try to make such an arrangement. "No," Raymond closed his eyes with a heavy exhale, "I'm guessing, it has to be me?" Killian gave Raymond a bright grin in silence. "I have no intention of staying on the good side of Ava White," Raymond opened his eyes, looking into Killian's with a firm tone, "I do not value her power over integrity, but..." Raymond paused for a second before he continued-- "...but I WILL join the dark side with you, Killian Dunn.""Raymond?" James said in hesitation -- he understood the weight of this decision on Raymond's conscience, but Raymond's eyes flickered already -- he was mindlinking."Please, Alpha," Killian snapped his finger and Raymond's phone flew out from his pocket, "use this, if you will?"Killian forced Raymond to use Ava just so he could make sure to get Ava to hate Raymond if he needed to, so he wasn't going to let Raymond mindlink anyone to make other arrangements without sacrificing Ava.After all, Raymond didn't need to hurt Ava to begin with.Understanding Killian's intention, Raymond snorted coldly before he grabbed his phone and called Theo instead of mindlinking."Theo?" Raymond asked when the phone call was put through, "I need you to do something for me."Killian tapped his own ear twice, and seeing that, Raymond put the phone call on speaker."Anything you need, Alpha," Theo answered swiftly, and the noise on the other side faded instantly. Theo was in a war room, having people loo
Sarah went to the basement after Killian left. There was no light in the basement -- even the small blinds were closed shut. And in the corner was a filthy bunk that smells of puke and blood. That was where Sarah kept Evelyn."How are you feeling now?" Sarah smirked coldly, stopping inches away from the bed when she frowned at the smell, "You didn't piss yourself, did you?"
Raymond turned to Sarah at her exclaim."Thank God you are--" Raymond's voice took a sudden halt before he continued, and this time his voice was shivering slightly as if he was in fear, "...a-are you alright? I smell blood on you..."It was Evelyn's blood, he recognized the scent, but he couldn't ask Sarah directly. He had to stick to the plan."It's nothing!" Sarah checked herself half-mindedly before she grabbed Raymond's arms, "What about Ava?! Is she alright
Sarah got a call from the hospital informing her that her daughter was involved in a car accident when he and Sarah almost reached the hospital."Where is she?!" Sarah almost threw herself over the counter as she grabbed the closest nurse, "Ava White, where is she?!""I'm sorry, ma'am, please calm down," The nurse gasped in shock, grabbing Sarah's arm to support her, "calm down, tell me who you are looking for so I can help--""Don't tell me to calm down!" Sarah let out a desperate shout, "Ava White! Where is she?!"Raymond walked up to Sarah in heavy steps. Sometimes Sarah amazed him with how much she cared about Ava. She obviously was able to be a good mom, just not to Evelyn.Sorrow filled Raymond's heart as he watched Sarah worrying about Ava, when he knew her other daughter, her real daughter, Evelyn's life was on the line because of this same woman."Sarah! Sarah White?" Theo's voice suddenly rose, and Raymond and Sarah both turned to look, "Over here! Quickly!"Sarah dashed ove
Raymond's weird mentioning of Nightingale did get Theo's attention, and he did make his own call--He sent men to steal Ava's wallet as he headed to the hospital, looking for car accident patients without confirmed identity. The hardest part was to find someone not too far from Ava on the figure, but luckily there was a 20-year-old female patient that looked no different from Ava with her face wrapped in heavy gauze. And the rest was easy. The hospital took the driver's license in the wallet planted on her by Theo as her identity and called Sarah, completing Theo's play. All Theo needed to do was play along and take the injured girl as Ava, claiming he was mistaken also by the hospital, and then wait for Raymond so he could get his confrontation."That's not my Ava!" Sarah threw herself on Raymond, grabbing his collar yelling, "Where is my--"Before Raymond could answer, Sarah took a sudden gasp in horror and froze where she was with her eyes lost focus, and then blood oozed out of t
Evelyn passed the critical period three days later, but Raymond didn't get to see her for another whole week. He highly suspected that if it wasn't in his city, James would have flown his little sister back home already.Even if James didn't bring more than a dozen men guarding her private ward, Raymond wouldn't have try to barge in pass James. He did feel responsible. He should have known. He should have paid more attention. He SAW how Sarah was treating Evelyn! Yet he didn't do anything, and that almost killed Evelyn. So on the Sunday afternoon when James texted him, he was very surprised that he got the approval of the protective brother. The dozen bulky men lined along the quiet hall in front of Evelyn's private ward watched Raymond pass in mean looks. Raymond knocked on the door and Evelyn answered quickly. But he didn't go in at once. He took a deep breath to calm his speeding up heart at hearing her lively voice for a moment, and then entered.James was in there, too. Leaning a
"You can't be with her."Said James, standing on the balcony of the second floor, looking over the quiet, green land of the hospital, waiting for Raymond.Raymond was right after James. Hearing this, his step paused for a second. He wanted to say "I don't plan to", but he realized he couldn't force those words out of him.[Mine!] Sisyphus roared, suddenly getting riled up. He would have roared at James if Raymond didn't stop him.Raymond wasn't really surprised by James. He knew his exaggerated care for Evelyn would get James's attention sooner or later, and he knew, his offer of the Alpha house would probably make it "sooner". But he WAS surprised. He was shocked when James's words rose fear in him--He fear that it would happen! He feared that he can't be with Evelyn. He had always found Evelyn interesting, and he couldn't stop himself from getting closer to her. But until James said so, Raymond never really realized that he WANTED to be with her!"Did you hear me?" James turned ar
While Raymond was shocked frozen with his ears ringing at the fact that his wolf purred at a girl, James grabbed Evelyn and ran before Raymond could stop him.Raymond wasn't stopping him either.[What the hell?!] Raymond demanded Sisyphus after James and Evelyn left, leaving him alone on the balcony with a moment to breathe and lash out at his wolf, [I know you are relieved that Evelyn is recovering now, but even so you can't...you can't...!]He couldn't say the word purr in the end, and his ears kept heating up.[I want her,] Sisyphus totally didn't get what Raymond failed to say, but simply sniffed the air, grasping on the faint scent Evelyn left.[She's not ours to want, you stupid dog!] Raymond rolled his eyes. He had been waiting for Sisyphus to say something like this for so long, but when it actually happened, somehow it happened at the worst timing --Evelyn said she could help them find their mate.Meaning she not only knew they weren't her mate, but also knew they had anothe
Raymond has been working overnight for days.[Eve, why was the big bad wolf working late again last night? I miss him!] Willa nudges Evelyn in boredom, demanding. Like Evelyn missing Raymond, Willia misses Sysiphus and maybe more. The spell's breaking restored the memory of Scarlett, James and Raymond, and Evelyn suddenly got all her family and friends back with no life-threatening risk hanging over her head. But that isn't the case for Willa. She is clean like a newborn baby and the only one she knows now is Sysiphus. Not to mention, Sysiphus adores Willa like no one else. Willa would only talk to him and Evelyn, not even Raymond.Things were so great for a month or two after Sysiphus marked Evelyn, but then he suddenly got busy, and so did everyone else. Though they see each other at breakfast, that had been their only chance to see each other in a whole day.[I'm sure we can see him tonight, it's Friday after all,] Evelyn rubs her forehead, getting a headache from the baby that had
Raymond came early. He didn't dare take more people against Killian's request, but he sent men to monitor all the mages in the city when he came to the warehouse hours early and lurked around. When it was reported to him that several important members of the coven disappeared, he knew something was wrong. So he woke up Sysiphus and came close to the house, only in time to hear Killian's words.Killian: "I can explain..."But Sysiphus wasn't in the mood to hear.[You can't go in rage right now!] Raymond was watching Sysiphus carefully in his mind, ready to take control at any moment, [I told you she would be in a bad condition, and you--][I have learned my lesson, Raymond, I won't lose it. I went into deep sleep because I was worried about the witch's mate bond spell, but not now when I see my mate with my own eyes.] Sysiphus answered calmly, his eyes landing gently on the white wolf floating in the air.The shade of cocky that had always been in his voice was gone, replaced by an earn
Killian persuaded Ava to use the same warehouse where she peeled off Mathilda's wolf.He saw real fear in Ava's eyes and he knew to Ava, the moon goddess truly existed and that Ava really believed she wouldn't be protected in that warehouse by her goddess. But why stains two places on the earth when she obviously enjoyed peeling off wolves, right? She might do more in the future. This logic persuaded Ava.Right now there they were. Ava and Killian, standing in the dusty, empty, abandoned warehouse, with Evelyn between them in a magic bubble, covered in burnt scars, barely alive. There was only one beam of moonlight throw the window, and Killian put Evelyn right under it.Ava kept her distance -- she had developed a moonlight-phobia since Mathilda. Killian glanced at his watch before he bowed to Ava: "Would you want me to do the honor?"Ava shook her head. It was so scary last time, and she couldn't even imagine how she pulled that off all on her own. But this time she felt a frantic
For four days straight Evelyn was kept in a magic bubble, naked.Fire would burn her skin crispy before ice froze her limbs. Then again, and again. Until she was at the edge of death, and that was when the mage guarding her would heal her wounds to prevent her death. And then a new cycle of fire and ice.Every day Ava would come visit Evelyn with only one question: where is your totem?Ava saw Evelyn's power. It was a much more pure and strong magic than anything Ava had ever seen. Maybe Killian's was stronger, but his power wasn't as pure.Ava wanted Evelyn's power. She had been stealing from Evelyn all her life -- she stole Evelyn's mother, father, identity...Everything! Why not this one more thing? Sara stole Scarlett's power successfully! But Evelyn wouldn't budge. Even at the edge of death she never begged. There were a few times when Evelyn tried to take her own life, and Ava had to add more men on guard just so they wouldn't kill Evelyn by accident.Evelyn really wanted death.
Midnight, a warehouse.Killian stood in the darkest corner of the warehouse where Mathilda's wolf was peeled off her, waiting.Raymond slipped a piece of paper into his collar when Raymond grabbed his collar before punching him in the face. He only realized that when Raymond patted over it. On the note were these words--[Midnight, THE warehouse]Even now Killian was still shocked at how far Raymond really could see.Raymond saw through Ava's whole plan when he didn't even have magic! He tricked everyone when he accused Ava of the crimes Evelyn was supposed to have done, so they all thought Raymond was only there to clear Evelyn's name when--What Raymond wanted was to meet Killian without anyone's attention! The depth of Raymond's plan made Killian's blood run cold. Once again he felt fear for what an awful enemy Raymond would be.No doors moved, nor any windows. But suddenly Raymond walked out from a shadow into the center of the room. His head held up high and he was looking at the
Ava never loved Raymond, but it didn't mean that she didn't want to conquer him. The man who every girl in the city admired, how could Ava not want him?! But all he ever gave her was insult and humiliation! Finally she got power and she even stole Evelyn from him, but this man just wouldn't submit in front of her! How dare he?!"You kill me now without me accepting your rejection, then you can never have another mate in your life," Raymond threatened with a serious tone, but instead of looking worried, Ava lay back with a cocky smile.Raymond curved his lips."What are you laughing at?!" Ava's face twisted -- the annoying Alpha! She hated his arrogant confidence!"I'm laughing at how simple you are. It's so easy to read you," Raymond shook his head slowly, taunting Ava with a smirk, "I just threatened you with a life of no mate, yet you don't look afraid at all. You should at least act, because now I know--"Ava held her breath without realizing it because she was nervous that Raymon
Raymond finally woke up on the fifth day after Sysiphus went in rage.Mathilda dropped the glass in her hand when she noticed his finger twitching: "Raymond? Raymond! Oh my God! Someone! He's awake!!!"James came first, followed by Emma and Scarlett. Theo was called to the Alpha house later that day, but Mathilda didn't let him in until Raymond's mind cleared up late in the afternoon.Raymond wasn't in a good shape though--Sysiphus was still in rage, trapped in deep sleep. Sysiphus was hurt too badly and couldn't wake up, but somehow he managed to give control before he went into deep sleep to heal. Or else Raymond couldn't have woken up yet."Where is Evelyn?" Raymond asked James, his tone calm with a shade of desperation. He knew a lot of horrible things would have been happening to Evelyn while he was trapped, but he had to face it.Sysiphus took the most hit, yes, but Raymond was the one suffering the most. He saw through the situation earlier than anyone, and yet he was trapped
Suffered through so much: getting a rejection, refusing a rejection, and then watching his beloved little sister suffering the devastating scar, but none of them hurt Sysiphus more than Evelyn's few simple words.Evelyn didn't expect that in the end, it was her own words that pushed Sysiphus into rage!Bursting into a painful growl, Sysiphus lost it and shifted under rage. He charged in Evelyn's direction and instantly everyone reacted. The mages shot all colors of beams at him while his own wolves followed him and tried to stop their Alpha -- their most powerful warrior in rage.Of course they failed.Werewolves flew out from Sysiphus's hits like leaves in the autumn winds, and the beams shot by the mages didn't seem to even get Sysiphus's attention. With a loud growl, James shifted the same time Sysiphus did and jumped in front of Evelyn and finally he stopped Sysiphus inches before Sysiphus could reach Evelyn.[Leave! He can't think!] James mindlinked Evelyn, [He could hurt anyone
Evelyn froze where she was before anger burst into flames in her chest."You did what?!" Evelyn hissed under her breath, not sure if she heard Ava right. Her voice and her body shook under anger, too. She knew Ava was evil, but she never thought Ava would commit the worst crime there is!Peeling off the wolf spirit from a werewolf! It's like castrating a soldier captured in a war, like raping an underage girl in front of her family. You don't do that, not even in a war!How dare she?!Tears of pain burned Evelyn's eyes, and for the first time in her life she felt the urge to kill. She wanted Ava dead! She wanted to see regret and horror in those vicious laughing eyes and she wanted to inflict pain!Ridiculous that Ava did all this just to reveal that she had magic, but if that was what Ava wanted, then fine! Evelyn raised bother her palms and walked up to face Ava, like the death goddess with the power of life and death in her hands!Ava curved her lips, but she avoided Evelyn -- she
