"From what I know, you took in Evelyn after you lost your pack," Raymond frowned, nailing his eyes on Noah White.
"We lost our pack to the war," Noah White closed his eyes, "and James Black only declared that war because of Evelyn." "But we couldn't leave her there," Sarah added after Noah White, "she's suffered enough before we found her, so..." Raymond pursed his lips. He didn't even do anything to Evelyn before the Whites disowned her like she was some kind of disease, and now they were saying that they abandoned their home for her? "Please, Alpha Raymond," Noah White had his right fist over his heart, showing his loyalty and respect, "can you please take us in?" "I seem to remember telling you to get out of my city if I don't see both of your daughters today," Raymond sneered coldly. Though he already found Evelyn, he wasn't gonna let a nobody like Noah White challenge his words. "I'm terribly sorry about that, Alpha Raymond!" Noah jumped up and pulled out his phone, "She WILL be here, I promise!!" "No need to rush," Raymond waved his hand indifferently before he stood up and walked toward Ava, "while we are waiting, I was wondering if I can have a small chat with you?" "Oh my..." Ava's eyes brimmed with joy and surprise, "Me? Really?" She knew the man from the legend was handsome and hot, but only today she knew how far the rumors failed to deliver how true it was. She never thought he would even talk to her, not to mention in this tender and gentle way! Sarah cleared her throat lightly and the smile on Ava's face faded a little -- she heard the warning in her mother's voice. "Of course, I'd be honored, Alpha." Ava stood up, nearly throwing herself into Raymond's chest, but Raymond took a step back and kept his distance. "Can I have a quick word with my daughter though?" Sarah came up to Raymond as they headed out. "I'll wait for you in the backyard," Raymond nodded and left. Walking on the lane in the backyard, Raymond saw the huge belltower in his new school, and a smile crawled onto his lips as his eyes moved to the window facing that direction-- No wonder Evelyn looked into his school, Raymond chuckled to himself, the bell tower DID ruin the view. But then he stopped, frowning when he realized what he was doing-- He had never been into anyone, in fact, he himself was convinced that he was mateless, it was almost like Sisyphus can't love. But that night was different. Sure, he was under sex drugs, but he knew she turned him on. He felt his heart beating for her, and he had been so excited ever since -- or even, nervous -- to meet Ava. But now when he finally had, all the feelings were gone, and all he could think about was a tiny small thing Evelyn mentioned days ago?!Across the garden, inside the kitchen, Sarah grabbed Ava on her arm hard with an anxious look while Ava gazed at Raymond's figure with smitten eyes.
"Are you listening to me?!" Sarah hissed at Ava under her breath with an anxious tone, "It's all Evelyn's fault, so do NOT tell Alpha Raymond you were there in the club that night! This has nothing to do with you! You ARE innocent!"
Ava wanted to deliver the contract, and Sarah stopped her without letting Ava know her real plan, but Ava followed Evelyn to the club anyway.
She just didn't let Sarah know.
"This wouldn't have happened if you let me deliver the contract to Raymond," Ava snorted with an indifferent tone.
Sarah only told Ava that Evelyn messed up with Raymond badly, but not the drug part.
"He's here for revenge!" Sarah snapped at her naive-eyed daughter, "I drugged him through Evelyn's hand, and made him have sex with Evelyn!"
"What?!" Ava opened her eyes wildly with shock. Instead of understanding the danger they were in, jealousy filled Ava.
Ava followed Evelyn secretly that night out of jealousy, but then Raymond and Evelyn left in a hurry, and Ava only found Raymond again when he was talking to Theo in front of a room--
Room 207.
Now she knew what Raymond was doing there that night.
He was doing Evelyn!
"Why did you let her do it?"Ava pouted, wronged tears brimming her eyes, "Is it because...that she's your real daughter, and I'm just a mistake?"
That was Ava's biggest fear ever since she found out that she wasn't the White daughter -- she was afraid that they would abandon her, and there was no way she would give up her luxurious life to let Evelyn be the princess she was born to be!
That was why Ava had been trying to make Evelyn look bad in front of her parents.
"Of course not! My silly little wolf..." Sarah sighed and softened her voice, "what gibberish do you have in that little brain of yours?"
"You helped Evelyn get the most handsome and powerful Alpha!" Ava pouted and real tears burst out of her when jealousy in her chest burnt her so badly, "I want Raymond, too! I have a huge crush on him ever since we moved here!"
"You can have him if you want, baby," Sarah pulled Ava into her arms and petter Ava's hair gently, "you can have anyone you want when your magic wakes up because when that happens, the whole world would kneel at your feet!"
"You always say that I have magic in me, but it just won't wake up..." Ava asked in a timid murmur, watching Sarah with fear in her eyes, "Will you love Evelyn more than me because of that?"
"You are more powerful than she will ever be, silly," Sarah smiled patiently, "and no, I would never love Evelyn more than you. You are my daughter, you are the little cutie that I loved and nurtured for 18 years, aren't you?"
Ava gave Sarah a bright smile.
"But what if my magic never wakes up?" Ava dragged Sarah's cloth and shook it with a clinging pout, "Will you still love me?"
Sarah's look froze into an angry frown.
"Mom?" Ava murmured, turning back into the timid girl.
Sarah spoiled Ava with whatever Ava wanted for the past 18 years. She never even raised her hand at Ava, nor would she allow anyone to make Ava upset. Ava was a spoiled little princess, well, most of the time--
There was one thing Ava never dares touch -- the possibility of her not having magic.
That question only slipt out of her tonight by accident, and instantly Sarah's look turned cold.
Ava never understood it.
Sarah told Ava her birth mom was a powerful witch, and her father was also one of the most powerful Alpha. There was great blood washing through your veins -- Sarah would often tell Ava.
Sometimes Ava felt like Sarah cared about her magic more than her.
But Ava knew Sarah loved her -- because even though most mage's magic wakes up in their childhood, Sarah never showed any impatience nor worry when Ava's magic still hasn't woken up even when she turned 18 months ago.
Even Ava felt like she was only a werewolf, but Sarah just had this strong faith that her magic would wake up one day.
"I'm sorry, mom," Ava quickly amended her slip of the tongue, "I will work harder than I ever have and wake up my magic as soon as possible!"
"Don't be too hard on yourself," Sarah smiled, stroking Ava's face as if that awkward moment didn't happen, "it will happen when it happens."
"You are the best mom!" Ava hugged Sarah with a genuine smile.
"Just remember, you weren't there at the club that night, okay?" Sarah glanced at Raymond's figure with worried eyes, "Tell him that Evelyn has left us and is no longer a White; tell him that we will help him catch Evelyn if needed!"
"He seemed friendly enough," Ava mumbled, smitten eyes pasted on Raymond.
Her hand still felt burnt where Raymond's lips touched her. She remembered how he gazed into her eyes when he asked to talk to her, gentleman-like, and how he constantly pays attention to her throughout dinner.
"Actually, he did seem friendly to you..." Sarah bit her lips, her worried eyes darted to Raymond out there, "Maybe he can feel the power inside you, and is taking an interest in you."
"You think?!" Ava's eyes glittered brightly at that possibility.
"I don't know, but..." Sarah mumbled to herself before she made up her mind, "If you can put in a word for us, do it. Maybe he would take us in for your sake."
Ava blushed at that thought. Raymond Reid?! The god-like man might have an interest in her?!
"I will get us into his pack," Ava curved her lips, her eyes pasted on Raymond's figure in the garden like a predator, "I'll complete the mission that Evelyn couldn't do."
Ava found Raymond in the garden, leaning against the stone arch with his hands in his pocket and his head low, his swan-like neck showing a pretty curve under the moon. Ava let out a longing sigh at the desire burning in her chest, and Raymond looked up instantly. "Miss Ava," Raymond said, walking toward her, graceful as a prince. Ava was lost staring at him, with a smitten face until he was towering over her. "Sorry I kept you waiting, Alpha..." Ava snapped out of it and lowered her eyelashes, her cheeks blushing. "It's no problem..." Raymond suddenly frowned lightly and tapped her chin up a little with those beautiful dark eyes gazing into hers, "...did you cry?" His voice was so gentle and soft that Evelyn's heart melted. "I'm fine," Ava murmured, putting on her timid act that would always get Sarah's affection, "thanks, Alpha." "What is it, you can tell me." Raymond softened his voice, but Ava just shook her head tamely. Raymond watched Ava carefully. He couldn't say she wa
In the aftermeth of the argument with his wolf, Raymond left the Whites without saying goodbye, or else he would notice the black S.U.V. that was following him the other night just passed his car as he left. The S.U.V. stopped in front of the White's house."Sure you don't want me to go in there with you?" The driver, a tall man with a hard jawline asked in a cold tone."Positiveeee," Evelyn smiled brightly, not at all influenced by the man's cold look, "but of course, you CAN if it's not too awkward for you to meet the bio parents of your adopted little sister who took the place of your real sister.""She is never my sister, especially when she CHOSE to be with the Whites when we needed her," The man snorted coldly, dodging Evelyn's taunting look with a frown."I'm choosing the Whites, too," Evelyn chuckled, making a naughty face, "should I worry about getting on your blacklist as well, ALPHA James?"James rolled his eyes, but in face of Evelyn's cute smile, only a resigned smile esca
The Alpha was NOT in a good mood.Ever since Raymond came back from his dinner plan with the Whites, Theo had yet to see a single smile from him, not even when he was with Mathilda. He basically escaped from home and hid hide at his work all day.No one knew what went wrong. All they knew was -- they got more workload and it got harder to please the already hard-to-please boss."Alpha?"Raymond's eyes shivered when Theo's voice snapped him out of his deep thought, but he didn't want to admit that his mind had been wandering for he didn't even know how long. He found it quite hard to concentrate these days. The serenity of his quiet life was gone and he couldn't restore it when he was doing the exact same things he had been doing before -- before Evelyn showed up. The thought of her frustrated him. "Continue," With a frown, Raymond waved his hand at Theo.Theo: "..."Should he remind his Alpha that he just asked a question?"So..." Theo's brain turned at full speed to avoid the poten
"Alpha?" When Theo came back, Raymond was standing by the French window, watching over the city with a drink in his hand. In bright daylight! Theo cocked an eyebrow at that rare scene, knowing his Alpha was very deeply bothered. "She left?" Raymond took a sip of his drink, his voice rough as if he just ran ten miles at high speed. It was more tiring than that -- Raymond just got into a huge fight with Sisyphus. "A moment ago, Alpha." Theo bowed lightly, "She said she wants to be an actress, and was hoping us to help her." Ava knew her chance with Raymond was getting thinner, and she thought getting something out of this mixed up mistake was better than nothing. So when Theo asked her what she wanted like Raymond instructed, she instantly blurted her wish-- To be a star at the help of Casmo Corp, the biggest entertainment company in the city, which was part of the Element, of course. She knew she had to find a way to support herself instead of relying on Sarah and Noah's love when
"Did you just hang up on the police?!" Evelyn let out a surprised chuckle when Raymond put the broken phone down. She knew he was rich and powerful, but that was out of the line even for him!"It didn't go through," Raymond sneered coldly, throwing the cracked receiver back into its place before he sat down across from her, "two can play this game."Evelyn burst into giggles before she cleared her throat and put on a somewhat serious face, except this time Raymond was warning himself in his mind to NEVER trust that girl's look--She got only evil and worse-than-evil ideas in that little brain of hers!"You know, I CAN get Mathilda to attend to Forks," Raymond put on a poker face, playing with the pen on his table."Without ropes, kidnapping, and perhaps using your Alpha Aura?" Evelyn tilted her head with a harmless curious look. The pen in Raymond's hand broke in half."You must have a high bill on repairing stuff," Evelyn let out a dry laugh, "with your speed of breaking--"Raymond pu
"My pleasure, Alpha," The woman answered in a dead cold tone, not looking at neither of them.If Sisyphus was not able to love, then Annie's voice sounded like she wasn't capable of any emotion."I'm sorry...ma-ma'am..." Evelyn mumbled, still standing in front of the woman like she just lost her soul. The woman's ice-cold eyes fell on Evelyn, her eyes were red like dark burning magma, but there was no warmth in there."Evelyn," Raymond called her warningly before he pulled Evelyn out of the woman's way.A pack witch is extremely superordinate in rank. A pack can only have one pack witch, and while they couldn't overrank the Alpha, no Alpha dares to take the pack witch light."I'm sorry if I have offended you..." Evelyn murmured, her eyes still pasted on Annie as Raymond dragged her away, "ma-ma'am..."The woman simply nodded before she passed Evelyn, heading to the chair with emotionless eyes."Evelyn--" Raymond managed only one word out before Evelyn swung off his hand and dashed off.
Raymond got off the car when he saw Evelyn before he could stop himself."Raymond, you didn't have to get off for me," Ava turned to Raymond with a flattering smile, pasting herself to Raymond's chest, "thanks for dropping me to the school." Raymond glanced at Ava's move, and Evelyn escaped in that split second. "This is the last time I'm gonna tolerate your touch, woman," Sisyphus pressed to the surface and gripped Ava's chin roughly, but Ava suppressed the pain and maintained her smile. "You could have just said so if you didn't want me to go, Alpha," Ava grinned at him, and Sisyphus pulled away his hand instantly with a frown. Wolves don't play the tricks and schemes of human all that well."Bye, ALPHA Raymond!" Ava skipped away from Raymond before she turned and gave him a bright smile, knowing all eyes were on her right now. Screams and whistles burst out in the crowd as Ava winked at Raymond before she entered the school's gate.Evelyn had already escaped to the side of the g
Evelyn only sneaked into the club to avoid the awkward trash talk, only to her surprise, she bumped into Ava at the bar."I thought you said you didn't want to come in," Evelyn frowned at the drink in Ava's hand, "you are not 21 yet."Alcohol works less on werewolves than humans because of the whole metabolism thing, but most packs enforce a 21-year-old drinking policy as the human do because underage drinking gets human attention too easily."YOU drink!" Ava rolled her eyes with a frustrated huff before she gave Evelyn a naughty grin, "Have one with me! Bartender!"The man grabbed an empty glass quickly. The last time Evelyn had a drink with her, Sarah made Evelyn go to bed without dinner for bad influence on Ava -- as if Evelyn needs to live on the allowance from her parents."Neither of us is having a drink!" Evelyn took the glass out of Ava's hand, not sure if Ava was already drunk, "I'm here to get you home, princess.""I'm not the princess, YOU are the princess!" Ava let out a fr
Raymond has been working overnight for days.[Eve, why was the big bad wolf working late again last night? I miss him!] Willa nudges Evelyn in boredom, demanding. Like Evelyn missing Raymond, Willia misses Sysiphus and maybe more. The spell's breaking restored the memory of Scarlett, James and Raymond, and Evelyn suddenly got all her family and friends back with no life-threatening risk hanging over her head. But that isn't the case for Willa. She is clean like a newborn baby and the only one she knows now is Sysiphus. Not to mention, Sysiphus adores Willa like no one else. Willa would only talk to him and Evelyn, not even Raymond.Things were so great for a month or two after Sysiphus marked Evelyn, but then he suddenly got busy, and so did everyone else. Though they see each other at breakfast, that had been their only chance to see each other in a whole day.[I'm sure we can see him tonight, it's Friday after all,] Evelyn rubs her forehead, getting a headache from the baby that had
Raymond came early. He didn't dare take more people against Killian's request, but he sent men to monitor all the mages in the city when he came to the warehouse hours early and lurked around. When it was reported to him that several important members of the coven disappeared, he knew something was wrong. So he woke up Sysiphus and came close to the house, only in time to hear Killian's words.Killian: "I can explain..."But Sysiphus wasn't in the mood to hear.[You can't go in rage right now!] Raymond was watching Sysiphus carefully in his mind, ready to take control at any moment, [I told you she would be in a bad condition, and you--][I have learned my lesson, Raymond, I won't lose it. I went into deep sleep because I was worried about the witch's mate bond spell, but not now when I see my mate with my own eyes.] Sysiphus answered calmly, his eyes landing gently on the white wolf floating in the air.The shade of cocky that had always been in his voice was gone, replaced by an earn
Killian persuaded Ava to use the same warehouse where she peeled off Mathilda's wolf.He saw real fear in Ava's eyes and he knew to Ava, the moon goddess truly existed and that Ava really believed she wouldn't be protected in that warehouse by her goddess. But why stains two places on the earth when she obviously enjoyed peeling off wolves, right? She might do more in the future. This logic persuaded Ava.Right now there they were. Ava and Killian, standing in the dusty, empty, abandoned warehouse, with Evelyn between them in a magic bubble, covered in burnt scars, barely alive. There was only one beam of moonlight throw the window, and Killian put Evelyn right under it.Ava kept her distance -- she had developed a moonlight-phobia since Mathilda. Killian glanced at his watch before he bowed to Ava: "Would you want me to do the honor?"Ava shook her head. It was so scary last time, and she couldn't even imagine how she pulled that off all on her own. But this time she felt a frantic
For four days straight Evelyn was kept in a magic bubble, naked.Fire would burn her skin crispy before ice froze her limbs. Then again, and again. Until she was at the edge of death, and that was when the mage guarding her would heal her wounds to prevent her death. And then a new cycle of fire and ice.Every day Ava would come visit Evelyn with only one question: where is your totem?Ava saw Evelyn's power. It was a much more pure and strong magic than anything Ava had ever seen. Maybe Killian's was stronger, but his power wasn't as pure.Ava wanted Evelyn's power. She had been stealing from Evelyn all her life -- she stole Evelyn's mother, father, identity...Everything! Why not this one more thing? Sara stole Scarlett's power successfully! But Evelyn wouldn't budge. Even at the edge of death she never begged. There were a few times when Evelyn tried to take her own life, and Ava had to add more men on guard just so they wouldn't kill Evelyn by accident.Evelyn really wanted death.
Midnight, a warehouse.Killian stood in the darkest corner of the warehouse where Mathilda's wolf was peeled off her, waiting.Raymond slipped a piece of paper into his collar when Raymond grabbed his collar before punching him in the face. He only realized that when Raymond patted over it. On the note were these words--[Midnight, THE warehouse]Even now Killian was still shocked at how far Raymond really could see.Raymond saw through Ava's whole plan when he didn't even have magic! He tricked everyone when he accused Ava of the crimes Evelyn was supposed to have done, so they all thought Raymond was only there to clear Evelyn's name when--What Raymond wanted was to meet Killian without anyone's attention! The depth of Raymond's plan made Killian's blood run cold. Once again he felt fear for what an awful enemy Raymond would be.No doors moved, nor any windows. But suddenly Raymond walked out from a shadow into the center of the room. His head held up high and he was looking at the
Ava never loved Raymond, but it didn't mean that she didn't want to conquer him. The man who every girl in the city admired, how could Ava not want him?! But all he ever gave her was insult and humiliation! Finally she got power and she even stole Evelyn from him, but this man just wouldn't submit in front of her! How dare he?!"You kill me now without me accepting your rejection, then you can never have another mate in your life," Raymond threatened with a serious tone, but instead of looking worried, Ava lay back with a cocky smile.Raymond curved his lips."What are you laughing at?!" Ava's face twisted -- the annoying Alpha! She hated his arrogant confidence!"I'm laughing at how simple you are. It's so easy to read you," Raymond shook his head slowly, taunting Ava with a smirk, "I just threatened you with a life of no mate, yet you don't look afraid at all. You should at least act, because now I know--"Ava held her breath without realizing it because she was nervous that Raymon
Raymond finally woke up on the fifth day after Sysiphus went in rage.Mathilda dropped the glass in her hand when she noticed his finger twitching: "Raymond? Raymond! Oh my God! Someone! He's awake!!!"James came first, followed by Emma and Scarlett. Theo was called to the Alpha house later that day, but Mathilda didn't let him in until Raymond's mind cleared up late in the afternoon.Raymond wasn't in a good shape though--Sysiphus was still in rage, trapped in deep sleep. Sysiphus was hurt too badly and couldn't wake up, but somehow he managed to give control before he went into deep sleep to heal. Or else Raymond couldn't have woken up yet."Where is Evelyn?" Raymond asked James, his tone calm with a shade of desperation. He knew a lot of horrible things would have been happening to Evelyn while he was trapped, but he had to face it.Sysiphus took the most hit, yes, but Raymond was the one suffering the most. He saw through the situation earlier than anyone, and yet he was trapped
Suffered through so much: getting a rejection, refusing a rejection, and then watching his beloved little sister suffering the devastating scar, but none of them hurt Sysiphus more than Evelyn's few simple words.Evelyn didn't expect that in the end, it was her own words that pushed Sysiphus into rage!Bursting into a painful growl, Sysiphus lost it and shifted under rage. He charged in Evelyn's direction and instantly everyone reacted. The mages shot all colors of beams at him while his own wolves followed him and tried to stop their Alpha -- their most powerful warrior in rage.Of course they failed.Werewolves flew out from Sysiphus's hits like leaves in the autumn winds, and the beams shot by the mages didn't seem to even get Sysiphus's attention. With a loud growl, James shifted the same time Sysiphus did and jumped in front of Evelyn and finally he stopped Sysiphus inches before Sysiphus could reach Evelyn.[Leave! He can't think!] James mindlinked Evelyn, [He could hurt anyone
Evelyn froze where she was before anger burst into flames in her chest."You did what?!" Evelyn hissed under her breath, not sure if she heard Ava right. Her voice and her body shook under anger, too. She knew Ava was evil, but she never thought Ava would commit the worst crime there is!Peeling off the wolf spirit from a werewolf! It's like castrating a soldier captured in a war, like raping an underage girl in front of her family. You don't do that, not even in a war!How dare she?!Tears of pain burned Evelyn's eyes, and for the first time in her life she felt the urge to kill. She wanted Ava dead! She wanted to see regret and horror in those vicious laughing eyes and she wanted to inflict pain!Ridiculous that Ava did all this just to reveal that she had magic, but if that was what Ava wanted, then fine! Evelyn raised bother her palms and walked up to face Ava, like the death goddess with the power of life and death in her hands!Ava curved her lips, but she avoided Evelyn -- she
