Arabella Rivera
I stared at my reflection one last time in the mirror. I couldn't believe I cut my hair last night.I lift my hand to glide my fingers through the short strands. They weren't evenly cut, but that's the price you pay when an inexpert cuts your hair. In that case, I was the inexpert.Did I regret it?
My eyes burned through the ones my reflection showed me.
No, I didn't. Not even one bit.
Smiling at myself, I tucked a few strands behind my ear and left the bathroom. It was morning already and I admit I didn't catch much sleep last night but today, I promised myself I'd be strong.
I wouldn't be the girl who let things slide anymore or let a mere guy get in the way between my heart and logical mind. I was done. I was going to be strong now and forget about, him.
My fingers latch around the strap of my bag and swang it over my shoulder. I took my phone too and began typing away a text to send to Gwen.

Arabella Rivera"Chewing gum in class is prohibited Gwen." Mr. Boyd's tone is rough as he glares at Gwen from across the room. "You better swallow it or throw it in the trash." His eyes narrowed, daring her to argue.Gwen's confused eyes turn to me as she chews the gum obnoxiously. "What does prohibited mean? Oh don't look at me like that, you know my brain hasn't updated to that level yet."I shook my head, biting my lip to not laugh at her expense. " It means banned, forbidden, not accepted-"Okay enough genius I got it." She rolls her eyes.My shoulder lift in a shrug. "You asked, I answered.""Gwen." Mr. Boyd growls, impatience seeming to twirl itself in his voice.Gwen snapped her head to face Mr. Boyd and sends him an apologetic smile. "The gum now." Giving her a pointed look that warned her of the pending trouble she would be in, Mr. Boyd pointed at his thin mouth."And stop talking during class, you too Arabella.
Arabella RiveraChristian: Miss me?Christian's message lits up on the screen of my phone. My thumb hover over the text as I chewed my lip.I felt guilty for even forgetting about him.Arabella: Yeah. Is something wrong, did you catch something? I erased the text before I sent it. It just seemed vague and like I was uninterested."Watch out!"I move out of the way before a football makes my head its goal. I swear those damn guys can't keep their stupidity only on the field. "Hey I just did my hair!" Gwen screeched at the two culprits."Sorry babe."I shook my head while typing a text to Christian. Definitely, it's seriously not the same when you're not here. I kiss your dorky ass. I sent it before I could overthink too much.I lift my head when a boy curses when he nearly bumps into me. Rolling my eyes, I fix them back on the opened chat. I reread my message, my cheeks flaming when I saw my mistake. But it was
Arabella RiveraWhat the hell? Grumpy?Confusion was all I felt right now as I stared at mother like she grew a second head. She was acting strangely and quite frankly I didn't know if to run for the hills or not. Only that there weren't any hills around here.I could run for a tree but what help would that be?"Are you feeling well mother?" Asking her so seriously made a foreign look of amusement settle on her features, surprising me even more than I am already. She sighs when my blank features did not change. "Look Arabella, just get in, I'll explain on the way." Her voice swirled with a plea. Her voice drops and her eyes soften when I don't make a move to enter the car. "Please."What could be so urgent that she couldn't wait for after school? Not only that, but she was okay with me ditching the rest of the day? In fact, she was the one who wanted me to ditch. Did some alien take over my mother's body without me knowing?I kn
Arabella RiveraMother's eyes saddened considerably. My words got to her, which is exactly what I wanted. I wanted to hurt her like she had done to me for years. Too bad those words I told her wouldn't compare to
Arabella RiveraGwen: Seriously this is our last year, we need to make the most of it. YOU need to make the most of it.
Arabella Rivera"This is totally peer pressure and a lot of other bad shit. Why am I friends with you again?" I groan as I closed the door behind me.Gwen whirls around and winks, resumes walking while doing it backward. "Because I'm the best friend you could ever ask for. Hey come on you gotta loosen up a little. It's only a party and I'll be beside you the entire night. Promise."I grunt, rolling my eyes in annoyance. "That's exactly what I'm not looking forward to."Her mouth parts as her eyes turn into a dark glare. "Don't pretend you don't like my company bitch."" I don't." I spat and walked ahead of her. I didn't want to go to the damn party and she very well knew that. But she wouldn't stop until I do, something I was now starting to resent.I entered the car, slamming the door shut roughly. "Hey hey, careful with my baby bitch."Gwen rushed around the hood to enter the driver's side. She turns to me when she's buckled u
Arabella Rivera"What are you thinking about? You've been so quiet." Gwen asked.I looked out the window and peered at the road. "Oh nothing, just wondering how much damage I'll cause if I just jump out of your car." I shrugged nonchalantly."That way I'll have an excuse to not attend the party.""One. Don't you dare and two, it's already too late we're pulling up to Samantha's." Her tone was filled with amusement as she slows down before a huge gate."This bitch is so loaded I'm fucking jealous." Gwen groans as she presses a button on the wall. "It's me bitch, open up."It buzzes and Samantha's voice bubbles through. "Party!!!" She squeals. The huge iron gate groans as it pushes open automatically. Gwen drives in slowly, looking around in amazement. I couldn't blame her, The entire estate looked spectacularly rich and beautiful."Hey, I don't think I packed clothes for the party or for the sleepover." I drawled out.
Haiden CrossA grunt of irritation leaves my lips as I remove the white tape around my hands. They were bloody, dirty and mocked me for what I had done an hour ago.I threw them at the back and slammed the back of my head on the car seat headrest. "Fuck." I clenched my eyes shut and gritted my teeth. My jaw hurt from the force of knuckles slamming onto it without mercy. It may have broken then but I wasn't about to go to a hospital to raise questions. One look at my face and knowing my reputation they'd know I'm into some illegal shit.I grunt, fingers reaching for my throbbing ribs. I winced, my split lip pulsating with pain as it tore again. I could taste the bitter coppery tang of blood as it stained my teeth and crawled its way on my tongue. How many more?I didn't even know the answer to my own question.I lost count on how many fights I'd have to participate in just to reach some sort of spinning wheel on the huge number of debt
*Two months after finding out she's pregnant* Arabella Rivera "Shit," Haiden groaned as he pressed into me and roughly slammed his lips on mine. He pushes me into the closed door, lifting my silk white dress. His palm burns my skin as his fingers inch closer to my bottom to hold. "Can't believe you're my wife now," He groans, detaching his lips from mine to skim them down my jawbone to my neck. I moan, arching my neck to give him more access. "Can't believe you're my husband," I whispered shuddering when he presses his bulge on my heated core. Only the material of his pants and my thin white lace panties blocked him from penetrating me. But the feel of him so hard against me was enough to have me quivering for more. We had only just come from the courthouse. I didn't want to wait any longer to marry him and he had the exact thoughts. It was his idea to just say fuck it and elope without a big wedding. I couldn'
*Graduation day*"Haiden Cross!" Mr. Boyd yelled over the mic.Haiden turns around to peek at me and sends me a wink before standing up. I bit into my bottom lip from stopping the giddy smile from emerging on my face."You're one lucky bitch Arabella," Meredith giggled playfully. This time I couldn't help the smile from stretching out on my face. "That I know," I whispered while never leaving my gaze off my man as he gets his diploma. The crowd cheered and I pushed my fingers into my mouth to whistle. Haiden turns to me and grins happily. I mouth out, 'You did it.'"Can I have him?" Samantha be
Arabella RiveraWhat was she planning?I could see her eyes on the gun, sense the wheels turning in her head. Haiden's sudden presence was like a light bulb in her head that couldn't go off. Whatever she was planning, I only hoped that she wouldn't get hurt.I didn't want to witness her death too."I forgive you, John. For everything. We can make this work. You don't have to hurt anyone else. " She whispers nearing him.I held my breath looking around the room.I felt helpless and useless that I couldn't stop him.
Arabella Rivera"Get away from her John. They're just kids leave them out of this sick game you're trying to play." Mother begged beside me when father said those nasty words. He snaps his eyes to her. "This isn't a game Margie. I'm serious. We just need to get rid of that boy and we all can start fresh-""No."His cold furious eyes draw back to me. "What did you just say?"Mother's grip on my hand almost turns brutal. "I said no. You're not going to hurt him. I'm not going to let you hurt him." I lift my chin in defiance but I didn't feel powerful at the moment, especially when the barrel of the gun aims at me.He looks at me like I had grown another head. "You don't have a choice Arabella," He snaps lowly. When I don't waver under his glare or tip my chin down, father snarls. "You fucking ungrateful brat. I did everything for you! You're the one who led me to fucking kill those people. And just to pack up and leave you
Arabella RiveraIt's her lifeless eyes staring directly at me that I knew would haunt me for the rest of my life.I couldn't remove my eyes from her. The woman who was like a second mother to me, who basically raised me as her own. Was now dead.I looked at the man who had done the deed. I couldn't see him as anything other than a monster. And that he was. A cruel sinister monster. A fucking demon.Someone who doesn't have a heart. You'd have to be heartless to even hold a gun towards an innocent person.I choked on a sob, a cry, a silent scream. I didn't know what to do, or say. My heart thuds pain
Arabella Rivera"Margie-"No shut up and let me finish," Mother spat. I was tempted to go downstairs and face him as well but she did tell me to stay there. I had to trust that she could handle it."I did everything to be a better wife for you. I tried so fucking hard to make this work. Yet here we are today. Turns out my husband for years have been sleeping with an underage girl that I once considered as a daughter-Mother laughs dryly but I could hear the raw pain in her voice. "I should've seen this coming, the late nights, the not satisfied with anything I do for you. You've been doing this for years behind my back weren't you?" Her voice cracks and my heart squeezes painfully. She didn't deserve this."Margie she came on to me-"Great, a cliche line overused by many cheating husbands. What does a bastard do when he's approached by underage teenage girls? Oh he accepts their advances and even pays them like they're prostitut
Arabella RiveraMy phone buzzed. I had been in my room, toweling my hair as I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I wasn't sure how long I had been standing there, gaping at the girl who looked like a total stranger. It was like I wasn't myself anymore. But wasn't sure if this was the better version or not.It all took a couple of hours to have my life turn to nothing but ruins. My so-called perfect family wasn't so perfect anymore. Sweeping or gluing the pieces back together was impossible now. And the look on mother's face said exactly that.My phone starts to ring and successfully draws me away from the mirror. I walked stark naked to my bed, wrapp
Arabella Rivera"Please don't take too long in there Arabella," Gertrude whispered, looking down the hallway then flicking her eyes back to me."I'll just take a second, I'll be out before mother gets back here. " I promised while scanning my eyes over father's study. It was very neat for a man who didn't allow his maid in there. Everything was lined perfectly and one would think he had never touched the place. If I needed mother to believe that her husband was a cheating bastard and a drug lord, I needed proof. Not only for her, but the police. I just really hope I would get some evidence even if I didn't know what I was looking for specifically."I hope you know what you're doing Arabella," Gertrude sighs and closes the door. I hear the soft padding of her footsteps as she leaves me alone in my father's study.I pressed my lips together looking around the room. I didn't know where to start first. I didn't even know what I was looking for.
Arabella Rivera"I'm coming with you," Haiden breathes out as he catches up with me.I looked at him. "No, you can't. I'm going home Haiden, if he happens to be there and sees you then he'll be angry and I won't be able to do what I'm planning."I get that he was trying to protect me but I was so tired of people protecting me. He needed to make me fight this battle on my own. All this mess was my family.Haiden scowls. "Are you fucking kidding? Did you not hear what I said Bella, he's dangerous. He put a fucking bullet-I clenched my eyes, forcing out the image that crept into my mind. I didn't want to picture father doing what Haiden said he had done. It was very hard to."Shit sorry. I just don't want you to get hurt Bella." Haiden whispers, tugging my hand to make me stop.I sighed heavily, looking at him. "He's my father Haiden, he won't hurt me," I said those words yet I knew they were utter bullshit. But if I needed this t
