Kian's POV While the first day was a stressful event, and we found ourselves being bullied by one of the Cabinet members to admit something we really had no idea in, I was still worried about what would come next.In the next trial, Lessia was accused of betraying her mate as well, and conniving with me to kill him. The only reason the trial didn’t push through was because of her pregnancy. She wasn’t feeling too well, so the trial had to be adjourned. Although, some of the cabinet members accused us of using Lessia’s pregnancy as an excuse to avoid the case.Lessia was really scared of what might happen. She complained heavily to me on how the entire Cabinet seemed to be a bias bunch and truly, I saw nothing in her words that I couldn't agree with."It's true. They are a bias bunch," I said. "The Alpha Cabinet has always been corrupt. But not corrupt enough to judge us without having concrete evidence. So don’t worry my love, we have a chance at this."Lessia still seemed less conv
Lessia's POV The thought of having to go to the court again made me sick, coupled with the fact that we were being accused of a crime we did not commit. Everything seemed extremely annoying. But in all, the evidence Kian had managed to find was my only happiness. I was certain that the case would finally be over and our name, cleared. My annoyance towards the entire situation fueled my reluctance to get out of bed. I laid there with my eyes wide open, staring at the ceiling furiously. The door suddenly creaked open and I jerked in it's direction. Kian looked so handsome in the black suit he wore. As he walked in, I smiled widely at him, but he watched me with bewilderment."Good morning, love." I greeted, totally ignoring the look on his face."What are you doing in bed at this time, honey? We're supposed to be on our way to the court, if not there already." His voice echoed earnestly."I'm trying to get some rest, Kian. This whole thing is stressing me out. The mere thought of it m
Kian’s POV It was refreshing to come back home with no guard from the Alphas Cabinet hounding behind us like dogs. It was truly refreshing in deed, and the wind blowing on to our faces as well, made it a more superb feeling. The feeling of freedom. The feeling of triumph. The crippling fear Lessia had when we were first summoned to the cabinet was now a distant memory. Despite how much Calvin taunted us and wanted us to be punished so bad for a crime we technically committed out of necessity, we were still able to prove our innocence to them.Lessia's smiles beside of me was yet another charm that kept me happy. Seeing her smile, made it occur to me that whether or not we had won, a happy her would be enough to pull me through the day. Any day at all. No matter how gloomy or sad I'd find myself in."I assume that you'd be throwing a party this evening," Lessia concluded, staring at me quite intricately on my face."Ugh, what am I supposed to say to that?" I asked sarcastically. "Of
Lessia's POV: I smiled as Kian’s notifications popped up on the screen. He had been sending me a couple of naughty texts, since he read in a book that pregnant women were extra horny.I once asked him if that was we the only thing he learnt from the book about pregnant women. He insisted that was the one that piqued his interest the most.Hey Lesi, just a reminder that if you need to brush up some things, or parts, I am on call away, or flight rather, cause I will literally fly to you. XoxoI was already exhausted from replying the ton of messages he sent, so I placed my phone on the vanity table, and stood at the balcony, thinking about how far I’ve come since running away from Maddox.Prior to when I left his pack, if one had told me that I would ever be free from his clutches, I would have never believed, I would have probably thought the person was crazy, however, here I was, with the love of my life and a child on the way, since I left him.All had been going well, a bit all to
Lessia’s Pov As I groggily opened my eyes, the rays of the sun entered into the room, filtering through the curtains. I glanced at the wall clock to know what time it was. It was a few minutes past 10 am and I realized I had overslept. This pregnancy made me lazier than ever, and Kian didn’t even help to abate that. He kept insisting I should rest at any opportunity that presented itself.Sometimes, I would stubbornly refuse him, just to be able to leave the house, but he insisted I didn’t leave without the guards trailing behind me.Kian wasn’t in the room, I guessed he had probably gone to a meeting. It definitely had to be something very important for him to leave without saying goodbye.I felt a bit sad that I didn’t wake up to him beside me, cuddling and smiling at me, but I understood that he had some important things to attend to, and we can’t always be together in our room cuddling all day. He was an Alpha, which came with a great amount of responsibilities, one he couldn’t
Lessia's POV: I had an appointment at the hospital. The doctor was to do some antenatal check ups on me. She took my blood sample, a urine sample, my weight, measured everything that was measurable. I laid down on the bed waiting for results and watched the ceiling fan above my whirl around, creating coolness in the room.I hated being in hospitals because they usually had the smell of blood and sometimes death. Maybe it was because a couple of loved ones I had all died in the hospital. Each time I went to a hospital, I had this nostalgic feeling, and I always wanted to leave as quickly as possible. The only reason I endured coming here was because of my baby. I needed to ensure it was healthy, and to do that, I had to get used to going to the hospital. Kian often accompanied me, but he was busy, so I had to go alone.I glanced at my phone occasionally, to see if he had called or texted, but I hadn’t gotten any notification from him. Maybe he was really busy and he would call when h
Lessia's POV: It already was dawning on me that I had made a mistake. Kian’s face could show it. A look of worry smeared on the color of his eyes were more than enough to tell me just what he was thinking. The news had made him furious.Initially, I didn’t want to tell him about it, but our child was involved, so I had no choice but to let him know about it.Things had been going pretty well, after we were summoned to the Alphas cabinet, but I still had the strange man’s threat on my mind. He did say he would make us pay for what happened to Maddox, since he insisted we were guilty, so maybe he had decided to act on his threats."You said you were followed? By who?" he asked, I didn't know if he really did mean the question or was just being sarcastic. I knew that he surely wasn't being sarcastic so it left me with the option of assuming he was being serious and really wasn't listening to his words. Before I could answer the first two questions he hit me with a third. "Why did you n
Kian's POV: “Lessia, come on, don’t be like that.” I pleaded, as I knocked on her room door. I had been standing there for over thirty minutes, but she still didn’t budge. After our not so little altercation, Lessia had been locked up in her room, refusing to come out, even to eat. She had the maids bring her food to her in the room, she never let them inside, they handed over the food to her at the door and came back to pick it outside the room whenever she was done. She had been avoiding me as well. My calls, text messages. Even when I went to her room occasionally to reach out to her, all she gave me was a defeating silence that seemed to pierce my heart.I didn’t know what else to do to make it up to her. But one thing is for sure, I wasn’t going to change my mind about her security protocols, no matter how angry she was.I knew how upsetting and hard it was for her to have been told by me not to leave the Pack house. It was an equally hard decision for myself to make as well. B
