Tonia's POV
I needed someone to squeeze at my arm because I couldn't actually assimilate what I had just seen. My legs faltered and I had to grip the door frame for support.
Logan noticed me then and an expression of guilt washed over him as he quickly stood up and started towards me.
He reached out to touch me but I stepped several inches backwards. With a shuddering breath, I turned sharply to run but his hands grabbed my shoulder and he swiftly pressed me to the wall outside the room and sit the door behind us.
"I was only consoling her!" He gave the understatement of the year. "Lisa is still traumatized about the rape and all. She started crying and I didn't know what to do."
I wasn't even sure anything he was saying was sinking in. My vision had turned blurry with tears but I pushed it back with all the strength left in my body. I couldn't break down now. Not yet!
"Kissing your fated mate doesn't mean anything to you, is that what you mean?" I yelled but it only came out as a broken whisper.
An expression of pity crossed his face and he opened his mouth to say something when the door opened and Lisa came out.
She walked up to Logan and clung to his arm. "Logan, I don't think I can stay longer for the rites. My baby seems to be moving as I have to get home. Could you drop me off?"
A bright smile instantly appeared on Logan's face. "Alright." He told her before turning to face me.
"I'll be back soon." He merely told me before leaving with Lisa.
I stopped him. I just wanted to be sure. I was giving room for the faint streak of hope in my heart. I wanted to know if I still had a place in his heart.
"Logan, I don't feel too well," I told him. "I think I need to see a doctor."
A thorned expression crossed his features as he glanced between me and Lisa, grinding his teeth against each other.
"I'm sorry, Lisa." He said, and I could already guess his answer. "I'll call the Royal physician to come over. I'm sure you're strong enough to wait, right?"
I couldn't even say anything. I could only nod as he gave me an awkward smile before leading Lisa towards the stairs.
As I watched their retreating figures, I couldn't even cry any longer. It felt as though my body had gone so numb I couldn't really feel anything anymore.
I couldn't continue with the rites either, but staying in our matrimonial room would be too much pain. Everything there would remind me of the way I had seen Logan kiss Lisa.
Left with no other option, I went to the guest room I'd stayed earlier. After several moment of trying to force myself to sleep, my phone rang.
I smiled when I saw the caller ID— Olivia.
"What's up, girl?" I tried to sound fine.
However, she knew me better than anyone and seemed to have detected the pain in my voice.
"Are you okay, Tonia?" She asked, concern evident in her voice.
I swallowed hard. "I will be," I said.
She sighed deeply. "I can understand. I was also surprised that Alpha Logan postponed the crowning ceremony till next tomorrow. Is everything okay? Did you guys fight?"
My whole world shattered. Did Logan postpone the crowning ceremony? He was hesitating? If there was anyone who detested hesitations more than anything in this world, it was Logan.
He'd never hesitated in his life, not when we'd met and definitely not when he had married me, but now he was hesitating when he wanted to crown me his Luna.
It only meant one thing— he was confused.
He was contemplating choosing between me and--- Lisa. And that was why he hid it from me.
Realizing I had been silent for a while, I cleared my throat awkwardly. "Everything's fine. He must have had his reasons." I told her.
I heard her swear something along the lines of 'fuck his reasons." Right! Did I mention that Olivia didn't approve of Logan? For some reason, I didn't know she'd never liked him right since I'd been dating him.
"So, did you hear about the Lycan king's banquet that's tomorrow?" She asked. "Only top persons were invited, and I'm sure you're going with Alpha Logan too."
I arched my brow. Sure, Logan hadn't told me about that. Anyway, I wanted to believe that he had postponed the crowning ceremony because of this banquet, but I already knew it wasn't.
Lisa was probably also the reason he didn't tell me about the Lycan king's banquet since he'd be taking her instead of me.
"No, I didn't hear about it. Logan didn't tell me." I confessed.
"Good thing, then!" She exclaimed. "I got an extra invite just for you. You'll be there right?"
"No!" My answer was firm.
There was no way I would humiliate myself by going to a banquet that my husband would be going to with another woman. I would just die of heartache.
"Are you really sure?" Olivia was trying to convince me. "I heard the Lycan King is extremely hot!"
I rolled my eyes. "Like I care. I'm a married woman! You should really settle down too instead of spending one night standing with different men!" I chided her and she laughed.
We talked for a little while before finally disconnecting the call. A few hours later, I still couldn't sleep. Even as much as I hated to admit it, I was waiting with bated breath for Logan to return.
However, at midnight, he was still not back. I knew too well what that meant and it stoned a knife through my chest— he was spending the nights at Lisa's place.
I tried hard not to think about what he would be doing with her but I failed. Thoughts of them together, doing things should be doing with him continued to seep in till I couldn't take it any longer.
I need a drink, ten maybe. Just anything strong enough to clear my head. And I knew just the place for that.
I went into the room, changed into pajamas, and took the secret passage that led to the Royal bar. The bar was a private one specially designed for royal visitors and it had different rooms, each with its own winery.
Just as I expected, the bar was quiet and empty. I entered the first room by my right, making straight for the shelf. I grabbed a bottle of whiskey, and poured myself a glass.
Squeezing my eyes shut, I gulped the whole content at once. It bittered my throat and dampened my stomach. I could feel all the knots in my body begin to lose. Loving the feeling, I took another shot.
"What are you doing here?" A cold voice sounded so close to my ears.
Startled, I peeled my eyes open, almost choking on my drink as I turned. I sucked in a sharp breath as my gaze fell on the bluest eyes I'd ever seen.
My gaze raked over the man's finely sculpted face, his perfect jawlines, and his full lips. I let my gaze lower to his bare chest, outlined by bulging muscles. Shit! He didn't have clothes on, except a tiny towel wrapped around his waist.
I struggled to take my eyes off the bulge reflecting beneath his towel that I shouldn’t notice— oh, moon goddess, I really shouldn’t notice it— because I was still married!
Seen enough?" His voice jolted me out of my reverie and my cheeks boiled hot.
"Now, what are you doing alone in an unmated, naked man's room?" He asked again, this time, in a dangerously low voice, making a chill ripple down my spine.
Tonia's POVMy lips quivered slightly as I felt the dark and domineering aura exuding from his body. Alpha male. Carnal energy! But how did he get access to the Royal bar? A rogue? My heart beat faster as I stepped a few inches backward, immediately thinking of how to either escape or haul something at him. However, to my horror—and moon goddess, be merciful— excitement, he strode towards me. I quickly turned to run, but he blocked my path.Gosh! How did he move so fast? I swallowed hard as his scent intoxicated my senses. He lowered his head towards my ear and breathed."You look so hot. Did you come here to seduce me?"Either it was the alcohol messing up with my brain badly, I couldn't say. But his breath fanning my face sent a rush of desire through my veins."I think I came to the wrong room," I said, unsure of if I was making any sense. "I'll leave now."I sidestepped him but he snagged at my wrist and pulled me flush against his body."I never said you should go." He said, pred
Tonia's POV. Did King Jayden just call her inferior? I had to hold back a laugh at his choice of words."Excuse me? I am his mate!" Lisa spat, looking offended by his words."Mate? What am I missing here?" King Jayden asked, sounding confused."King Jayden, it's more complicated than you think and I don't want to concern you with family matters," Logan bowed slightly again.Family matters indeed! If he wanted to keep this situation private, he wouldn't bring her to such a public function while leaving me out of it all.King Jayden suddenly tightened his grasp around me and my breath became uneven."I'm pretty concerned about your behavior. You have a wife and also a mate, but isn't it a bit disgraceful that you would bring her instead of your wife who has been married to you for years? She deserves to be at your side, but I guess you don't deserve her."I glanced up at King Jayden and was touched by his words because I never thought of things that way. I had supported Logan through
Tonia's POV.I gasped at his words, he said them with such authority that I was tempted to say yes.I didn't want to see them anymore but I didn't want to cause more drama either."No, I don't want that. I just want them away from me." I responded and I could feel my heart beating fast. "You heard her," King Jayden turned his gaze to them.He lowered his gaze again and laid another kiss on my hand. My cheeks reddened as his lips nibbled on my skin. The fact that he was doing this in front of everyone made me so...so..."King Jayden, you shouldn't get handsy with someone else's wife!" Logan snapped, his voice laced with jealousy.I glanced at him and felt even more irked. How dare he try to act like he had any right to make demands?"You're one to talk, Logan," King Jayden chuckled mockingly.A furrow appeared between Logan's brows. He was pissed that King Jayden kept calling him by his name and disrespecting him over and over while he had to endure it all."I'm only saying the truth.
Tonia's POV.Did he just ask me to call him my mate? What did he mean by that?"King Jayden—""Jayden," He corrected with a soft smile."I don't understand what you mean, but why would I call you my mate?""Because we're both fated by the Moon Goddess to be together forever," He responded."What? I believe you're getting things confused , we can't be mates," I argued."Why? Is it because I'm a king and you think that you don't deserve me?" He quizzed. Well, that was true. Why would I, a weak omega, be mated to such a powerful and highly respected King? He wasn't just any king but a Lycan King."It just makes no sense. I don't have a wolf!" I revealed. He let go of my chin and lowered his hand to my chest before responding, "I know, and that's why you can't sense the mate bond between us. But deep inside, Antonia, you know that we have a connection."He said each word while looking straight into my eyes and I was starting to believe that he was right. There was an undeniable connectio
Logan's POV.I looked around and couldn't see Tonia anywhere. Where had she gone? I saw her running out earlier? Had she gone home? I hope she wasn't with King Jayden anymore. Why did he even gain such sudden interest in her and go as far as touching her that way?He should count himself lucky that he was a powerful King, if not, I would have taught him a lesson he would never forget.I wondered how he had lasted so long in that position with such an insulting attitude. I would not be the only one to ruin him once he falls."Tonia is more despicable than I thought!" Lisa suddenly spat. She had pure hate in her voice and I didn't blame her. She was my mate and deserved to be treated well, but the circumstances surrounding us weren't good at all."Lisa, you shouldn't get agitated, especially because of the baby," I whispered and held her hand. She yanked her hand away from mine and snapped, "I shouldn't be sitting here among these people. I should be with other reputable Lunas, but ins
Tonia's POV I hoped he couldn't hear how loud my heart was beating right now. Sitting so close to Jayden wasn't easy, and Olivia made matters worse by not even accompanying us. She was a darling for helping me pack my things from that cheater's house but I wished she had come along with us. "Do you always behave this way when you're nervous?" His majectic voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I glanced at him, and he had this amused expression. I shook my head. "What? I don't understand." "You keep playing with your fingers and biting your lip sometimes," He noticed. I immediately released my bottom lip and separated my hands."I'm sorry," I quickly apologized. "You do not have to be sorry for being nervous, you should just know that I do not entertain bullying in my kingdom or around me.""I'm not going to let anyone harm you or speak badly to you." He spoke with such authority, I almost believed him. "You might be the king but you can't control everyone's actions," I blurte
Tonia's POV.Logan wouldn't come for me. He was obviously carried away by Lisa, why would he want me back? But the maid just mentioned that the Alpha wanted something that Jayden took for him. "I took what belonged to him?" Jayden asked with a confused look on his face. "Yes, he kept repeating that and keeps calling what you took his love or wife..." My heart started beating faster as my fear seemed to be confirmed. It was Logan. Logan was here for me, but I was certain that Jayden wouldn't let him take me. This could get bloody. "Jayden," I breathed heavily. He didn't respond but held my waist firmly and effortlessly lifted me onto the piano. The instrument made off-tune melodies as my body pressed against the cold keys. "Stay here, okay?" He held up my chin and instructed. Then he turned to the maid and said, "Let him in." My heart almost stopped at his instruction. Why would he let Logan in? "Jayden, no—" "Stay here," He repeated and walked away before I could stop him
Tonia's POV."What!" I exclaimed in shock. I clenched the sheets beneath me as beads of sweat formed on my skin. This was worse than I thought. "What will I do now?" I asked, my voice trembling. "Luna, please don't mind what she's saying," The second maid chimed in. "What?" I became confused. "King Jayden is not wicked person and you don't have to run away from him. She's just trying to scare you because she can't accept that he has you now," The maid explained. I was still confused. "Tina had a crush on his majesty and she is not happy that you are here. She has been convinced for a long time that the king would never find a mate since he had nearly passed his mating stage," She explained further, shocking me.I glanced at Tina, and she lowered her gaze. "She's just trying to scare you. I know the king might seem harsh at times but he always has a good reason and he's also nice to us all. He doesn't harass us like other Pack leaders do, he's very respectful and fair," The se
Jayden's POV.I had gotten myself into trouble. I should have thought twice before suggesting this.I looked back at Antonia, and she had not even noticed anything."I wonder if the water will be warm or cold," She said, walking slowly into the water.I watched the water envelope her entire legs, leaving the rest of her glorious body visible."The water is warm," She giggled, flapping her hands in it. "I can't believe that it's glittering in my hands.""Jayden, come here and see this," She invited and looked at me.My face paled and I quickly turned my back on her. I couldn't let her see that I had a full blown erection right now.It wasn't just embarrassing but insulting. I just wished that I could control it more like I controlled my wolf."Fuck!" I cursed."Jayden, are you okay?" She asked, and I sensed when she moved deeper into the water.Oh no! did she suspect something?"Yes, I'm fine. I just have a little cramp in my leg," I lied."It must be so painful," She mouthed with a wo
Jayden's POV.I heard her yelp from outside the training place, and I rushed inside like a mad man. When I entered, I was surprised to see Ryker holding her so closely. I didn't expect them to get so close. I interrupted whatever was going on, and Antonia looked at me in shock. "Jayden." I shouldn't feel any jealousy right now because I knew they were training, but my wolf wasn't helping my emotions. Draven had always been possessive, and right now, he wanted to take Antonia out of Ryker's grasp and slam his face against a wall. But I was glad that I could put him in control. "Jayden!" Antonia screamed this time and ran over to me. My heart pounded as she approached me. I missed her so much. I thought of her every moment that I was stuck in that place. "Antonia," I grinned and widened my arms. She fell into my arms and wrapped her hands tightly around me. "Jayden, you are back," She laughed. "Yes Antonia, I am back," I laughed as well. I wrapped my arms around her and in
Tonia's POV. I couldn't focus on my breakfast, or rather my brunch after learning that I would be training with that unbearable Lycan for the next few days. I had been so sad and upset about this sudden change. I was also worried about Jayden. Jayden had always tried to spend time with me, so I was very surprised to hear that he wouldn't be returning. Something bad must have happened for him to take such a drastic decision. I also doubted that he would willingly leave me alone with that nasty piece of work. "I just hope that he's fine," I bit my lip anxiously. "He didn't sound good earlier," I said worriedly."What if something bad is happening?" I shivered. "I think I should call him, hearing his voice would give me some reassurance." I dropped my fork and grabbed my phone from the table. I called his number, but it was unavailable. "Unavailable?" I panicked. I called him again, but it said the same thing. I dialed his number up to ten times, but it was always the same 'un
Tonia's POV. "I am not training with you until I talk to Jayden!" I didn't wait for him to reply, I just ran to my room. I took my phone and called Jayden. He answered after a few dials. "Jayden, how are you? How is your brother?" I questioned in a worried tone. It must have been very serious for him to leave at midnight. I just wished that he came to wake me up before leaving the mansion. "We are fine," He sighed. I didn't believe his words at all. He sounded tired, and there was some noise in the background. I just hoped there wasn't a war over there. That would be so horrible. "Are you sure that you're fine? You don't sound good," I quizzed. "I'm just tired," He responded briskly. "Antonia, I have to go. Please take care of yourself and do whatever Ryker asks you...""I am sorry for disappointing you today." "I don't mind—" The call disconnected before I could complete my sentence. "What just happened? Is he fine?" I asked, feeling very concerned. The door suddenly
Tonia's POV."Excuse you?!" Ryker glared at Jayden. "There's no way that I'm teaching this rude, silly—" "You're the rude one here!" I snapped. "Everything about you screams rudeness...you're very unpleasant!" I had never been so angry since Logan made fool of me. And I had never felt so nauseated like I was right now. He was rude, mannerless, and he didn't even see a need to hide his disgusting attitude. I heard everything he said about me last night, and I had never felt angrier. I wondered why he became friends with someone as wonderful as Jayden. I overheard how he defended me yesterday, and it made me trust him more. "You're the only unpleasant one here! You are an abomination to every one of our species!" Ryker insulted. "Ryker, that's enough!" Jayden shunned. "No, it's not. I want him to continue ranting like an idiot. I enjoy watching you make a fool out of yourself! Disgusting twat!" I affronted without restraint. "Stupid piercings!" I added. His expression turned d
Jayden's POV. It was wrong to think of my mate that way, but I couldn't stop myself. It seemed like reality was more concerning than I thought. My enemies had always tried finding a weakness in me, and Antonia would certainly be their target. In times of war, she would be helpless, and I would have to think of ways of keep her safe."What am I going to do about this?" I asked, running my hands through my hair."How would the people, and others react when they find out she doesn't have a wolf? My family don't know that detail, and Leah couldn't suspect that because she doesn't have a wolf yet," I thought restlessly."She doesn't just lack a wolf, but doesn't seem to have basic survival instincts. She hardly notices me around her until I speak. This is bad," I mumbled, feeling more agitated than ever."But I can't give up on her. She's my mate, and I have to help her," I asserted, and stood to my feet."I had promised to help in reviving her wolf, but how do I do that? I couldn't even
Jayden's POV. "Ryker!" I grabbed his shoulder and made him face me. "What was that about?!" I snapped, glaring at him. I didn't expect him to behave so rudely towards Tonia. "You promised to behave yourself when you meet her. Why are you acting this way?" I rebuked. "Jayden, can you hear yourself?" Ryker shot back. "You said that she was a werewolf." "You never said that she was an omega!" "I didnt think that such an information was important," I raised my voice. I was so angry at him right now. "Are you for real? How can you even say that such information isn't important?" He thundered and bit the piercing on his lip. "She's an omega, what's wrong with that?" I demanded. "She's my mate and that's all that matters to me." "To you? What about the pack? How can the lowest rank in all of Lycanthrope rule over us?!" He argued. "Antonia is an intelligent woman, and I'm sure that she'll do her best for this pack," I defended my mate. "No one cares for her intelligence. We are i
Tonia's POV. Did I hear him right? "What did you just say?" I gasped. "Antonia, I want you to be by side at all times." He replied. I didn't want that. It would be harder to resist him. "Jayden, I will be fine and you do not have to be with me twenty-four-seven. I have the guards and they will protect me." He didn't still look convinced. "Jayden, please don't worry about me." I quickly added. "I don't want to act controlling, so I'll trust you," He caressed my cheeks. "But I still want you to stay with me tonight." Sweat formed on my skin, and I felt the air become more thick. How was I going to survive spending a night with him? Sharing the same bed? I was already tempted by his handsome face, and having a hard time resisting all his charm. How would he even control himself? I knew very little about Lycan sexuality, but I knew he was having a hard time controlling himself. What was the guarantee that something wouldn't happen tonight? "I promise not to touch you," His vo
Tonia's POV.It had been an hour since I returned home with Leah, and still, no one had called to tell us anything about the person that took my picture. Back at the shopping mall, It seemed like I wasn't the only one who saw him because the second he ran out of the shopping mall, Timothy chased after him. Timothy didn't come back as fast as we expected, so Nath decided to bring us home. But since I returned, I had been so restless. I wondered who the person was and what he wanted to do with pictures.I hoped this wasn't another Alpha that didn't like Jayden. I was starting to feel unsafe with dangerous enemies lurking around. I knew Jayden was a king, and he had a lot of enemies, but it had not even been up to two weeks since Alpha Keith's attack. Why were they also targeting me? Was it because I was Jayden's mate and an easy target? "Tonia," I heard Leah's voice and lifted my gaze. "You should stop thinking about what happened. I'm sure that Jayden and the guards will take ca
