A Restraining Order.

It’s been three days since Tobias showed up unannounced, and I’m hoping that he has come to his senses and returned to New Zealand. I’m so tired, the sleepless nights have been getting to me lately, and I’m so paranoid that I catch myself constantly looking out my living room window or over my shoulder when we are out in public.

I steer the car into our driveway and notice a black sedan is parked up in front of the house. My stomach begins to churn, and my grip tightens on the steering wheel as the driver gets out of the vehicle and stands next to his door with a placid look on his face.

“Who is that man?” Awez asks, rubbernecking out the window as I drive past him.

Lifting the handbrake, I kill the engine and put the windows down to let enough air into the vehicle. “I’m not sure, honey girl, but I’m about to find out,” I say as I unbuckle myself and turn to face both her and Ryan. “I need you both to stay here while I talk to the nice man and see what he wants, okay?”
