Chapter Twenty-Four: Never Fall In Love

Marissa's POV

I looked up to him finally. "Did you read mine, sir?" I asked. "I know that it could be too much, but I do not want my worth to be wasted just for the mere fact that I am your secretary."

Mr. Montero had a ghost of a smile on his lips before answering. "Of course. All of your conditions and requested benefits are implemented. No exceptions," he said and tilted his head with his mysterious, prolonged gaze. "And I know how capable of a woman you are, so I will follow what you want."

I averted my stare at him and focused on the papers plastered on the table. I read them discreetly and nodded in satisfaction. But before I signed them, I looked at him again, who had been staring at me for a long time. It's awkward, alright? I am not used to being showered with focus and attention just like he is doing to me right now. Before, he just rolls his eyes or disregards my presence.
