Marissa's POV

After that scene I had with Diego in his Aston Martin, I took a shower and had my alone time in my room. I called the caretaker of my grandmother and promised to visit her tomorrow. While I was watching N*****x, my phone rang for a video call. It was Diego.

I immediately straightened up and cleared my throat. I combed my hair with my fingers before answering the call as if I was answering a Zoom meeting because of how formal I was sitting.

"Hey," he greeted me. "What are you doing?"

Diego was already lying on his bed. His body was facing the right side while he was holding his phone in front of his face. He had clear skin, I know that. I never saw him with acne or any whiteheads. That is what I liked about him. He is hygienic and he always had this man's perfume that I am addicted to. Now, even though we are just facing through our skins, I could still smell him from my apartment. His hair was damp, making me conclude that he had just taken a bath like me a while ago.

MARISSAWe went home after I granted my daughter a McDonald’s meal. As expected, Diego followed us home, and I don’t know if I should be comfortable with this or not after he called me with his formal address towards me as his former secretary. For a moment, I felt a tingling feeling with nostalgia in it. I must say that I may have missed my job, and also - him. “Elisa, you can take Lilith upstairs now. Make sure to give her a half bath please,” I told Elisa as we arrived in the living room.“Yes, Marissa,” she politely said and guided Lilith towards the staircase.Lilith took a last glance at me and it went through my shoulder, making me guess that she was looking at her father behind me. When they were gone already, I faced Diego who was still placing his hands on his pockets. He was watching me with an intense gaze. I was still wearing my work clothes, and I will feel ashamed if I try to change them when Diego is still my visitor at my own home. I should pay his courtesy with mine

  • To Love My Boss   Chapter One-Hundred-Eight: McDonald’s

Marissa’s POVI could not think clearly while working the next day. Even Ms. Desmon, my secretary, was worried that I could be sick. Mrs. Rivera was even kind to suggest that I should apply for a leave, but I did not. I wanted to get distracted from my mind by doing things at my job.“Coffee, Ms. Dela Cruz?”My eyes lifted to Ms. Desmon who placed a cup of coffee in front of me. I was currently sitting on my swivel chair while typing on my laptop, doing some Excel work. I smiled at her which she reciprocated.“Thanks, Ms. Desmon,” I said briefly. “You’re welcome, ma’am,” she replied and cleared her throat. “Anyway, ma’am, I have something to inform you.”Without minding what she will say, I took the cup of coffee that she offered and played with the rim of it using my index finger. When I did not reply and just made a small whirlpool on the coffee, she took a deep breath.“Mr. Diego Montero asked for your number, and I gave it to him since he said it’s for business purposes,” she rev

  • To Love My Boss   Chapter One-Hundred-Seven: Lost Daughter

Marissa’s POV“I realized along the way that I did not want to live regretting because of the dreams I let go. And so, I reconciled with my parents without the knowledge of your father, and that made us fight numerous times. I wanted to start again to make my dreams come true, but I did not intend to leave you,” Ms. Zeana Tan said, her voice shaking now nervously. “When I came back to the house we are renting one day from signing a contract with my parent’s business, you and your father were gone. Even the landlady was gone. I tried finding you, but your father already took you away from me.”She bowed her head and closed her eyes. I avoided mine, my head venturing around the coffee shop until I met the eyes of George Benitez who was on the other table. The tray of three coffees was in front of him, untouched. He was just watching us, so I furrowed my eyebrows and began to suspect.Don’t tell me…“I am sorry if I left you. I was so selfish and young. I did not want my life to only rev

  • To Love My Boss   Chapter One-Hundred-Six: To Know the Truth

Marissa’s POVI tightly clenched the handle of the glass door of the coffee shop where I am supposed to go. I stared at it, doubting if I should go in or not. I closed my eyes and breathed in and out deeply.Marissa, you are already here. Do you think this is the right time to be nervous? You already called Zeana Tan and wasted her time to come here. To talk about why she was telling you that she is your mother. And the truth behind everything that still lingers everywhere but never been answered. In the end, I pushed the door and the bells rang inside the coffee shop. There were not a lot of people, I noticed. The scent of the variety of coffee kind filled my nostrils. For a moment, I checked if I smelled good and my coat dress was a good choice. It was Chanel and I even brought my Gucci bag. I wanted to look formal but not too impressive. Only subtle, because I would be talking to the most successful woman I have ever known.“I’ve got this…” I said to myself and heaved a sigh again.

  • To Love My Boss   Chapter One-Hundred-Five: I’m Sorry If I Left You

Marissa’s POVAs I prepared the fruits and other food in the tupperwares from the huge back we brought, my eyes would repeatedly look in the direction of Lilith and Diego playing in the playground nearby. He was the only parent playing with his daughter, while the other kids were just enjoying themselves with their parents in their picnic spots, taking photos and talking with other adults. Diego was gently pushing Lilith on a swing. I smiled without even noticing as I stopped and watched them. I could hear Elisa rummaging the plastic so she could get the water bottles.“I thought Lilith looked more like you,” I heard Elisa comment, so I gazed at her. “But now that I am seeing your boyfriend beside her, she does have some significant features from him.”It made me stare intently at Diego and Lilith. I have always thought that our daughter has his eyes and smiles whenever I look at Lilith. Maybe Elisa was just used to seeing only me and Lilith.“He is not my boyfriend,” I found myself

  • To Love My Boss   Chapter One-Hundred-Four: Blushing

Marissa’s POV“You’re late,” I pointed out when I saw Diego outside of the house. He just got out of his car. “Sorry,” he said, caressing his nape while busy looking around behind me. “Where is Lilith?”He did not even try to look at me properly. At least, appreciate my dress, makeup, and hair? But I did not let the disappointment linger over me. Instead, I cleared my throat and pointed to my car parked on the other side of the road. Lilith and Elisa were already inside the car after I went there to turn on the engine, so I can go to him next.“They are already ready,” I answered. “Anyway, you are not busy, right? You don’t have any meetings?”“Well, do you have any in your company?”“No.”“Then I don’t have any. I am only here because of you and Lilith. I invested in the company where you work just to see you,” he said without taking his eyes off me.Small ticklish atoms scattered inside my system, affecting my ability to compose myself because of what he said. The sun was behind hi
