Most times, you just wish you listened to your hunch and prevented most situations, Victoria thought to herself as she stared at the wall mirror in the restroom.

She inhaled and exhaled as she constantly looked at herself in the mirror wondering what she could have done to have prevented herself in the situation she had found herself in.

After a while, she left the restroom, ready to go and see Mr Smith, the man she clashed with earlier today. "It's gonna be alright." She said to herself, forcing a smile to her face.

Victoria inhaled and exhaled deeply as soon as she was in front of Me Smith's office. All her life, all she ever wished for was to work for Smith Technologies and most especially meet the brain behind Smith technologies.

After the former president of Smith technologies passed away, his son took over but there was no image of his son. Many outstanding achievements were done by his son yet his face was never seen by anyone in the company and she wished she got to see him.

She didn't know if it was normal to be idolizing someone whose face you haven't seen but she didn't care as she thought he deserved it and hoped one day she'd get to see his face. When she got the call that she made it into Smith technologies, she jumped in joy, celebrating like it would be her last day on earth after accomplishing something big.

It was hard to get employed into Smith technologies as they were known to take people with outstanding achievements and experience. She had taken part in some activities related to computer programming in the past to create a solid profile for herself and before coming for the interview, she had prepared herself really well.

Looking at the door once again, she shivered with worry. After a while she sighed deeply. She made an attempt to knock on the door but stopped whenever her hand was about to touch the door.

She had delayed herself in the restroom after being told to meet Mr Smith in his office for some confirmation to her skills and intellect. She knew she had wasted more than enough time and her delay could create more issues for her but she was more worried about facing the man she looked up to.

She was glad when Mr Smith ignored her after requesting to see her in his office and had checked on the new plans made by the computer analysts before leaving.

She was sure she would have peed on her body if he hadn't left as his presence intimidated her making it hard for her to breathe in peace. Every once in a while, he would glance at her in a while in a demeaning way making her so uncomfortable.

"Take control dear lord, your child is worried." She muttered. "Oh see what you have caused yourself Victoria. You should have just greeted him instead of arguing with him this morning." She muttered.

"But I wasn't wrong! He almost hit me with his car and I have every reason to challenge him." She defended her actions.

"You can do this! Remember Victoria you can!" She encouraged herself.

Just as she was about to knock on the door again, she felt a figure standing behind her and she flinched. "Oh my gosh!" She gasped, placing her hands on her chest.

She was about to curse at the person when she saw his face. She bit her lips and scolded herself for wanting to repeat the same mistake that put her in the position she was in to the same person twice.

"Were you going to knock?" Mr Smith spoke, his voice raspy.

His hands were in his pants pocket and for some reason, Victoria felt the urge to take them out. She felt intimidated by it as she felt he was showing off to her.

His presence alone was intimidating and the way he stared at her terrified her more. She could tell he didn't like her and even if she did perform well, he might reject her. She had managed to put herself in a bad situation and didn't have a very good first impression with the man she looked up to.

Staring closer at him, she was wowed by his structure. God had definitely taken his time to create him and give him good brains too, she thought to herself.

She didn't think much whenever she thought of the face of the late Mr Smith son but looking at him, she wished she had imagined him this hot so she wouldn't be so shocked when she finally sees him.

As intimidating as he looked, Victoria couldn't deny he looked good and oozed power. She wished she had recognized earlier and kept her mouth shut.

"You sure do like me to repeat myself and do you know what I hate most, Miss Perkins?" He asked, his voice calm yet frightening.

"No sir!" She replied as fast as she could, adjusting her suit jacket very well.

"Well I guess that was a wake up call for you. Join me in," he said to her and walked into his office not turning to look at her at all.

Victoria felt shivers down her spine once her eyes set on the office of Mr Smith. It looked fine and well decorated. The smell of the room was pacifying and cool.

It was big and the outside world was in clear view for him to see. She had completely forgotten she was in the office for an interview that she took in every piece of tools and views in his office.

The large flat screen TV was diagonal to his office table and chair. On top of his office table was a computer and a flower vase.

Her eyes moved around until it fell on the beautiful painting on the wall. She fell in love with the painting although she didn't know what the details were about.

She was so lost in the things she saw in the room that she had not heard Mr Smith call for her attention.

He sighed, "I wonder how you got employed if you have earring issues?" He asked but more in a rhetorical form.

Victoria cursed herself mentally for having being stupid from this morning to present. She knew something was going to happen as she had woken up with worry today.

She was already messing up without being given a chance and that made her eyes teary.

"I'm sorry sir," she muttered but loud enough for him to hear.

He cleared his throat. "You are sorry? I do not take people who are sorry in this company because sorry people only make more problems than solve them!" He spat out, his forehead creasing in the process.

She felt her heart break into a thousand pieces. She felt hurt from his words and knew she had shown him that side of her to use against her.

She swallowed the lump in her throat, refusing every urge to speak and defend herself until he was done talking.

Mr Smith knew Mr Lucky wasn't a man who easily employed workers. Mr Lucky took many things into consideration before employing anyone and it was hard for anyone to get employed while Mr Smith was in charge.

"What are your qualifications?" He asked her.

Victoria took in a deep breath before replying, "I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer science. I also participated in the 2019 college computer programming competition and won. I worked in Logan technologies for six months in Texas when I was a junior in university."

Mr Smith brows raised, "Saying it doesn't mean you can. Also you talk too much, lack ethics and you have issues with earring which is a minus for you..." Victoria interrupted him.

"Sorry for that sir. I hear properly and might have been lost in my thoughts to realise I was being spoken to. It won't repeat itself." She said, hoping she would sound assuring enough.

Mr Smith glared at her. "Do you know another thing I hate, Miss Perkins?" He asked and she shook her head.

"I hate being interrupted." He tells her.

"It won't repeat itself," she said and he shook his head.

"You talk too much and that's something I won't be able to deal with. You do not know when you keep quiet, do you?"

"I'm not usually a talkative sir. It's the position I am in that requires me to speak."

"And that position will make you lose this opportunity before you earn it. So let me tell you something, since the position you are in requires you to speak, then the position I am in requires me to not hire you." He smirked and her heart broke.

"What?" She utters in disbelief.

"I...I..." He interjected.

"It is just as you heard Miss Perkins, You are not good enough for a position here in Smith technologies." He said firm and stern.
