Chapter 1

Zachary’s POV Justice. If there is one person to equate that word? It’s me. Zachary King. The werewolf King. And I am damn proud of it. The blood of culprits on my hands fill me with a kind of thrill. It may sound insane but I love the sound of their cries, their pleas of mercy as they take their last breath. It’s bloody peace. Disposing off those shitty people from the world. Execution is boring, I love torture. Raw, carnal and unrestrained. However today? It was different. Very different. That thrill, that excitement were dead and I wanted to be anywhere but here. Yet being the King, I have to sit here, witness this. See her. One last time. The crowd suddenly went rabid, their cries for blood clawing at my ears. And that’s when I knew, she was here. “Kill him!”
“Monster!”
“Burn him alive!”
“Show his face!” I sit there, silent, my hands gripping the armrests of my chair so hard I might snap the wood. The noise means nothing. It’s a distant roar compared to ...

Accidentally chanced upon this book .. The first 2-3 chapters had already moved me to tears by the deep love the female lead had for the male lead . Great start! Love it so far..

Chapter 2
Chapter 2 Zachary's POV The ink on the parchment was barely dry, yet the weight of my signature hung heavier than the air in this cursed room. My hand still trembled as I stared at the damning order, the scrawl of my own name sealing Eirene’s fate. I couldn’t breathe. The room felt smaller, the walls inching closer with every tick of the clock. My chest constricted, and I fought to keep my composure. "The traitor is with child," the healers had announced, their voices a strange mixture of awe and hesitation, as though they knew the storm their words would ignite. And ignite it did. I saw their eyes on me—on my shaking hands, my unreadable face—as they waited for my reaction. The announcement hung in the room like a guillotine ready to drop. But my silence betrayed nothing. My silence screamed louder than any words could. I didn't look at her unconscious body, those serene features. I couldn't. The guards carried her unconscious body back to her cell, rage flooded my

Chapter 3
Eirene’s POV I stirred awake, to only feel every part of me aching from the hours spent curled on the damp, unforgiving floor. How long was I unconscious? What happened? Why didn’t they execute me? My eyes opened slowly, the dim light stinging as my surroundings came into focus—bare walls, stone slick with moisture, and shadows that seemed to stretch endlessly. The cell. I was back here. I didn’t bother moving. What was the point? Even the thought of sitting up felt like too much effort. The tattered shawl clung to me like a second skin, rough and threadbare, barely shielding me from the cold. My legs, bruised and exposed, were drawn to my chest in a desperate attempt to hold onto some semblance of warmth. My teeth chattered uncontrollably, the sound echoing faintly in the silence of the cell. Each breath I drew felt like a struggle, the icy air clawing at my lungs, making me shiver harder. The dried blood on my skin pulled painfully with every movement, a constant

Chapter 4
" Zach!" I couldn’t hear it anymore, I thrash in the chains and he tugs my head back mercilessly to have his nose touch my chin. A wicked smirk lingered on his lips as he looked into my shocked teary eyes. " What? It's the truth dewdr-" " I never intended for this to happen, Zach! Just listen to me once! Please!" Who would have thought that I, the great Phoenix would beg someone, but then Zachary King wasn't just anyone? If there was one man who I wanted to believe in me? It was him. Atleast he of all should know, why I killed those men. There is a story behind every person I killed. A dark tale. No one is born villain. They are made into one. And I was one of them. I wouldn't give a damn about what the world thought about me. I only needed him to trust me, believe me. He deserves this explanation. Hell, he deserves way more, but this is all I had to give to him right now. Words. And nothing else. Words he is not ready to listen. " I may have lied to yo

Chapter 5
Raven’s pov Starting into those brown deadly orbs seeping with coldness, I felt something familiar. Those eyes, I recognised them…. Could it be really her? But how is it possible…. Hoe could she be the Queen, how could the King let this happen. I opened my lips to speak, knowing these may be my last words if not chosen correctly. "No fire can ever burn you, let alone touch you if the one burning inside you is brighter than the one around you. " As soon as those words left my lips, those dead eyes shone with a flick of an emotion. Phoenix's grip on the syringe loosens as she furrows her brows to seethe. My doubt got confirmed. She is really…. her. " Who are y...ou?" " Someone you may not remember, but you are someone I can't forget. " "24th August, Filian Street, a house was set on fire. You saved my child." " Risa" Those brown orbs search for something in my determined ones and then click. Phoenix throws aside the syringe to move back, leaning on the wall

Chapter 6
Eirene's pov The bile in my empty stomach revolts and I push my palms on the floor to get up. Gagging out the shit I sigh to breathe. My heavy eyes look around at the dark dungeon. No one is here. Not even that woman Raven. She hadn’t returned in the last seven days. And nor did anyone else come in to give me food or even water since then. Hold on… Her last words reverberate in my mind and that’s all I have been trying to do. To survive. Looking around at the dark stoned walls, my eyes stop at a water ingress on the roof of the old worn-out place. Pushing my numb legs. I reach the wall right under it. Pressing my fingers on the stone wall, I feel something wet touch my finger pad and a smile forms on my lips. Water. Leaning on the wall, I lick the wall of all traces of water. Each drop felt like heaven. Desperate? Crazy? I know. But one needs to do a lot of things to survive. At least I am not asking those fuc*ers. Sucking off all the remnants of traces, I

Chapter 7
My chain of thoughts is interrupted by the door creaking open. Wilson stepping in and I sigh. Not him again. Now that he can’t touch me because I am pregnant, he is thinking of other ways to break me. “ I see you are still breathing bitch. Saved by that bastard kid in your womb.” I am sure it is somewhere around 3 am. No one visits at this hour. Whatever. Closing my eyes, I try to go back to sleep when suddenly my front is slammed on the floor. And then click. He locked my hands behind me. " Fuc* off bastard!" I trash to no avail. My body was too weak right now. Another click follows and I see him locking my ankles together. Moving back he cracks his neck to a side to whisper. " Perfect" " What is the meaning of this!" I seethe, trying to squirm and get it off when he replies. " Your Highness has made his decision...and he has asked me to inform you. " He speaks, with a smirk lingering on his lips. And my stomach churns in anxiousness. Zach. " I wa

Zachary's pov "Goodbye, Zach." “ I love you, Zach…” “ I may have lied about a lot of things… but I never lied about loving you.” “ Save me Zach… I don’t want to die.” “ Please… Zach..” My eyes snap open as I hear her voice. And I suddenly felt breathless. Princess... A strange heaviness settled in my chest. And I felt suffocated. It didn't feel right. Running my fingers through my hair, I find myself sweating profusely. My forehead was dripping. Pressing my palms on the mattress I try to get up when I feel something pressing down on my chest. I look down to find blonde hair sprawled on my chest and that earlier feeling in my stomach only worsens. It's not her. Emerald's eyes flutter open to look at me and I immediately missed seeing those brown eyes instead. What's wrong with me? I don't feel anything for my mate because I am still obsessed over a girl who is imposed as my mate. " Zach. What happened baby?" My fists clench and I throw aside the comf

Chapter 9
Thunder cracked above, splitting the sky in a vicious roar that seemed to echo the storm inside me. The rain was relentless, cold and sharp as it soaked through my clothes, but I couldn’t bring myself to move, couldn’t bring myself to care. A crowd had gathered at the cemetery, their hushed voices a dull hum I barely registered. Their judgment didn’t matter—not now. Not ever. My hands hung limp at my sides as I stood at the front, watching. A half-buttoned black shirt clung to my skin, the rain weighing it down. My hair was a mess, sticking to my forehead, but my focus wasn’t on the cold or the discomfort. My focus was on her. The body wrapped in white muslin cloth was lowered gently to the ground, soaked and soiled by the storm. My fists clenched on instinct, nails digging into my palms, but I couldn’t feel the pain. Pain like that wasn’t enough. Her voice whispered through my mind, soft and broken.
"Tomorrow, after they kill me... I want you to touch me one last tim

Chapter 10
6 months ago. Runderwood no man's land. 7:45 am Eirene's POV The two things I love more than anything in this world are sleep and food. And I don't compromise on them for anything. None. Nothing. "Please... please...leave me I beg! Please..." A woman's shrills of pleas continue to drill into my eardrums like pointed knives and I groan. Turning to another side, I fold my plans and press them under my ears. A feeble attempt to block the noise. "The princess is beautiful. What if we have our share of fun with her boys?" " Grab her." " Agghhh nooo! Please....take anything....but leave me...helpppppp!" The ripping of clothes follows her yells and my fists clench. Sleep has become really underrated these days. I travelled a thousand miles to find silence in this no man's land of wildness, to only hear this? " I...I have money...please take it..but let me go...I won't tell anyone...please." I am not ashamed to admit but this piqued my interest. Did
